Simply "Out of this World" Fantastic. As as always your work is stunning. I end up having to watch them a couple of times trying to wrap my mind around what you're doing. Hard to believe a total work of art being created in 3 1/2 minutes with spray paints, and magazine pages!
I am an artist, and I am amazed by the process and the completed painting. I have an idea to make it even more "rad". Use a box canvas using neon paints. Have a stenciled cutout/cutaways and then put a black-light on the inside. Unreal effect.
Very cool techniques. I remember seeing an artist doing something similar to this on the street in NYC years ago and wondered if you were the same artist.
Give it a try. I did and I was amazed at how easy space paintings were. Nature paintings like water falls, trees and mountains are challenging but if you start with outer space paintings, it is a piece of cake. It would only cost you around $7 for paint (white, black, red, blue, green and clear at walmart each for 1$) and paper (30 cents for a big piece which you can cut down). You never know if you don't try.
@Drewcevus thank you kindly, I use glossy rustoleum spray paint, shake them cans really well and try to paint in warmer weather or warm your cans to room temp before painting, best of luck, go for it!
For those who wonder why he does the "same thing" over and over, I'd like to point out that it's made clear that his preference as far as spray painting is making outer space landscapes (as his username is "spacepainter" after all). He's not shy about it. He's shown in other videos that he's capable of creating other things. His technique is quick, clean, and well done. However, I will always love the space paintings the most.
its done with all the layers of paint, the newest coat is still wet so it can be scraped off to reveal the dry paint underneath, hes also probably using different amounts of pressure to scrape off more layers and get different colours (i think) and bam! instant mountains
Unbelievable rattle can work! I would like to see a wall painted like this instead of all those word tags you see everywhere you got some talent there!!!
This is completely AWESOME!!!!! I so wish I had the talent or mental capacity to do something this awesome, but unfortunately I'm about as good at art as a walnut. If you don't mind I think I'll just ponder my existence now in a dark corner. You're amazing dude XD
I guess the illusion is just perspective. He did a fantastic job of fore-shortening to make it appear that the painting has depth (IE you perceive the upper waterfall to be behind the lower waterfall). It's a trick that has been used in paintings since painting began, but very effective nonetheless.
@svenenkoen You can start out by using A4 photo paper, works really well and cheap. The white line effect you are looking for is simply scraping back the paint to the white of the photo paper and as supra pointed out if your paint dries and you can't scrape through it, simply add some clear (laquer UK) and it will thin the paint so you can scrape again.
Reminds me of jackson pollocks style. he used a brush to fling paint at an empty canvas. Youre doing something similar with spraycans. The only thing is youre making something concrete out of the paint while pollock's is abstract.
try spraying an extra coat of clear over the area you are using the pallet knife on, you want to keep the paint nice and damp so you can scrape it away easier.

I am an artist, and I am amazed by the process and the completed painting. I have an idea to make it even more "rad". Use a box canvas using neon paints. Have a stenciled cutout/cutaways and then put a black-light on the inside. Unreal effect.
I'm actually crying because of how beautiful this is.

let me tell you, id give bout anything to have the ability to do this kinda painting. i can't even draw stick figures much create this amazing art!!!
The tools are pallet knives. You can get them at your local art supply store. Oil painters use them. Get the metal ones. The plastics are flimsy
this guy has art on his hands
@FutJJ nice to meet you Brandon :) thanks for you comment.
gotta love light n shadow.

well done - i love this stuff. Really inventive, resourceful and creative :-)
@riookierin I think the "illusion" is the depth. A flat piece of paper looking like 3 dimensional scene with multiple planes and levels
try spraying an extra coat of clear over the area you are using the pallet knife on, you want to keep the paint nice and damp so you can scrape it away easier.
