Early modern humans colonized land in Europe that was occupied at the time by Neanderthals. So the settler sin is as old as humankind. How far back does one want to go. The answer is the clock always begins at the time that best supports one’s political point of view.

This is incredibly hard to listen to. It's also something that every high school in the western world should REQUIRE. Kudos to Mr. Kirsch. He exposes the moral hypocrisy and vacuousness of an ideology by taking its proponents seriously, in their own words. Without a word of condemnation, he exposes this insanity for what it is, to anyone who will actually listen.

I think I speak for everyone when I say that it would have been better if woman in the leopard skin top with the nervous habits had not been seated right behind the (exceptionally good) speaker for today’s presentation.

At university it is presented as the only legitimate viewpoint- if you disagree you’re an irredeemable person, or fundamentally stupid, and your opinion constitutes violence against anyone who disagrees with you.

The Ottoman Empire was a colonial empire.
The worst colonialists of today are Russia.and China (e.g. Tibet).

All the countries that decolonized and got rid of their colonial settlers, are much worse off than they were during the colonial times: See Angola, Algeria, Kenya, Libya, Mozambique, Tunisia, Zimbabwe.
The whole decolonization movement is based on ignorance.
*Decolonization has been a failure almost everywhere.*
Among the few countries that succeeded after decolonizing are Bahrain, Israel, and Singapore because these countries kept the legal systems and institutions that the British colonizers introduced.
Now what we see is the people of the former colonies settling the countries of their former colonizers. This is true for Spain, Portugal, Britain, France, the Netherlands, Italy.
I’m not trying to justify colonialism and ignore its horrors, I’m just stating that what followed the end of the colonial administrations is much worse.

The lady behind the speaker rocking back and forth is too distracting to continue watching

Excellent talk on a topic I was aware emanated from our university campuses, but I had no succinct understanding of its main points. Recently heard a Land Acknowledgement recitation at a city council meeting and looked briefly into its origins. Part of the recitation spoke of the 'unceded territories' of the local indigenous tribes. After thinking about it, I realized the PoV it came from was quite hostile to the presence of 'settlers' . I think this PoV is hateful and destructive in its implications and is a significant contributor to the culture wars in our country.

You're thumbnail game is abysmal, you have steven kotkin as a moderator, you would get over 100 if 1000% more views on this post, if you're thumbnail wasn't just words.

According to the Center For The Study of Political Islam International, Islam has put to death 270,000,000 people in the last 1,400 years. Does Hoover dispute that total?

A connection could be made as to how one would tolerate someone else settling outside my apartment door or public park. The scales of justice certainly need oil.

Settler colonialism is great. I am looking for more places colonize. Most African countries were improved by Western colonialism.

Rather, the solution to all of this is to acknowledge the God of War, the God of borders, the God who was there and still dwells among us, among those who believe.
