Thanks for this comprehensive tutorial on the FLF. I just bought a Ficus Lyrata Bambino today and I’m hoping it’s here to stay. Will try and incorporate all your tips. I’m just a beginner 😊
Hi Rosette, Since it's been 10 months since you commented, let us know how your bambino is doing. How tall was your bambino when you bought it and how tall has it grown in these months?
Hi Ann, can you please do a video on how to get rid of pests like spider mites, aphids, mealybugs etc.. on house plants. I recently a major problem with spider mites in almost 90% of my houseplants 😭. Tried treating the plants with something mild and safe for household with kids like Neem oil solution for 2 weeks, but sadly it didn't help much. Finally I had to resort to more strong chemical pesticides. But can you please suggest on how to track pests situation , how to avoid it in the first place and more natural treatments. I live in Europe and sadly long winter months here take a toll on indoor plants health in general. Loved your fiddly fig video. I had bought a small plant last year, but even with best care it dropped all its leaving within a weeks time, hence I decided that it's not a plant for me maybe.
Very nice video. The plant is very healthy. I dont know why those 3 dislikes....i think those are by mistake....liked and subscribed to your channel. Thanks
Hi loved ur video I love fiddle fig 💚💚 Bought a new tiny one and it shed all its leaves within 4 days Now just stuck with a 4 inch stem n waiting for it to show a life 😞
Thanks Ann, this information is very helfpful. Can you please help me here...after the leaf drops my plant has gone very bare in its look. What should I do...while new leaves are growing and from this video i conclude that my FLF seems to be going thru an infection/root rot...and needs an immediate repotting. But it hardly has any leaves now...it looks like a plant with just a very sick trunk. Can you please guide me?
Ann, thanks for the video. I love all your videos. I want to know the name of some of my plants, which I don't know and can't get the names from local nursery. How to get help?
Hey thanks, Im glad you like the videos! Why don't you try the app. Google lenses. If that doesn't help you can Dm me on Instagram I'll try my best to help.
Hi, I have recently bought a fiddle leaf fig, bt it's very small plant n I just did not water it for 1-2 days after the soil got dry, n the very next day, it shed it's 3 leaves, so today I changed the potting mix; added Coco peat to it, I have a West facing window n it gets too hot in Chandigarh these days, so should I keep my plant in sunlight that enters the room in afternoon or should I keep it in just well lit area!?
My plant is around 3-4 ft. with new leaves coming periodically. However it has started to bend towards one side from the top, the base of the trunk is almost as thin as the top and the plant has taken almost an F shape with the top section bent towards one side. What should I do please?
Hi Ann...we share d same facing balcony...as u said it doesn't like sudden temp change so is it ok to give it morning 3 hour sun and den keeping it in hall which is very low light....only d light that that come is of tubelight...
My fiddle fig start to get root bound.... very badly. Just now... And winter is coming.. idk what to do.. should I repot or wait for spring.. plz any suggestions
Hi. Thank u for ur video. Just last week I had commented that its doing well and to my horror I have seen the lower leaves getting yellow n brown spots just after watering it yesterday. May be over watering. I will not water it until next week but just wipe n mist the leaves. If u have anymore suggestions please let me know. Hope I stop it from getting further worse
You are welcome😊 Now that you have caught the problem early you will surely help your fig and hopefully he will get all better. If over watering has been an issue then be careful to water when the top layer of soil dries up, that may be 2 days to a week depending on so many factors
Hi Ann my fiddle leaf fig hasn't been growing for the last 4-5 months, no new leaves, but no leaves have dropped either. Don't know what to do, how to make it start growing again, now that winter is also over here in Lucknow.
Hi Thanks for the info. My newly bought fiddle plant leaves look droopy, curled up and dry, they don't look healthy or shiny at all. The soil looks moist and i'm scared of over watering. It's currently placed indoors (no sunlight) but i can keep it in a balcony with more light and more air circulation. Pls guide what i should do /// thanks in advance
Hi, I have a fiddle leaf fig which has grown so tall with no leaves at the bottom ..as such the plant is very healthy .. What can I do to make it more busy like I want it to branch more at the bottom ..
Accidentally i spray cleaned my fiddle leaf fig with a can that was used with kerosene so my water was contaminated. and my leaves started drying and looked like it was rotting as well. and i had to remove all the leaves those were almost 80% affected. looks like even the remaining few leaves will dry out. the fig which i have is hardly 5/6 inch tall. will it grow new leaves even if i lose all the present ones. will removing the leaves promote new growth? i don't know whom else to ask so i'm posting here
I use spent tea leaves which has high nitrogen and low potassium and phosphorus. And for potassium i use banana peels. Phosphorus can be taken from bone meal. I prefer organic fertilizers because they are mild to plants and at the same time improves the soil in many ways. If at all chemical fertilizer has to be used, a small pinch in a litre of water would be more than enough. Its very easy to overdo the fertilizer thing and damage the soil and expensive plant.
I stay in ground floor and have long north east facing corridor with shade. With more of the space at the northern side (rather than eastern side), will fiddle leaf fig do okay there? We stay in bangalore, so humidity should not be a problem
Humidity is good for many plants. It helps them grow faster and requires less frequent watering. But you should be cautious about the sunlight requirement. Some plants need few hours and other whole day.
I got a health big size plant for 250 rupees exactly how much I saved. It is expensive in goa 350 rupees but the happy old man at the nusery gave it for 250 Rupees. I think its atleast 48 cms . I how many day should I repot it.
If you did not give enough water the leaves will droop. If the leaves are brown in colour it is due to over watering. If the plant is inside check the soil before watering
Take a look at your drainage and lighting. Too large container, the wrong soil and too much water can lead to root rot in a fiddle leaf fig. Lack of sunlight makes these conditions worse. If the plant is indoor , keep it where it can get sunlight
Watch the video till the end where I talk about all these issues and then apply it to the conditions your plant is in . Leaf drop is a very common FLF problem and can happen because of many reasons
Yes the leaf does propogate in water. It takes almost a month if done during rainy season. I did that and have three more plants propogated
It's a treat watching ur videos.everything explained so precisely ,clearly n with love.recently I was searching for this plant
