Gaelic never really makes sense when worded in English haha coming from a flaunt Gaelic speaker.
I wish gaelic was spoken more and not a forgotten language in a way. I’m currently making a discord for a group who want to speak the language as bad I do. Let’s try and get the language out there again.

No matter what, hearing one's mother sing this would make anything better. On Mother's Day my mother told me she was glad I was her first. I could not hold back anything. I thank God for her.
True and this song expresses a mother's love so beautifully. I want to sing it to my children even though they are all grown and to my grandchildren.

I just learned recently that my great grandpa’s mother was pure Scottish with a very thick Scottish accent and she knew how to speak Scottish Gaelic. Her name was Susan. And apparently my great grandpa said she was very stubborn, kind and calm who could also be energetic. He said I remind him of her and it was very amazing. I’m getting a tattoo that says:
“O mo chreach, tha e fìor. Tha fiaclan agus sgrìoban aig rudan brèagha cuideachd.”
“Oh my darling, it’s true. Beautiful things have dents and scratches too.”
I’d say O mo chreach is oh good heavens.. mo luaidh is my darling. And fiaclan means teeth, not too sure what dent is.. I’m a native Scottish Gaelic speaker 😊

Even though I don't understand a single word of this song , it brings tears in my eyes everytime I listen to it, it's one of the closest song to my heart ♥️I believe this song is enchanted! it's the power, the magic of music that it can literally convey the whole meaning of a song to someone completely aloof from the original language like me and could get tears in the eyes.❤️❤️
i know what you mean. I have no Scottish/Irish roots, but the childhood school i went to was heavily focused on scandinavian and gaelic culture, and we used to sing songs like this from kindergarten into third grade. I have a lot of strong memories attached to that time. Now, i'm in high school, and reality is not very rose-tinted. Anything that sounds like the melodies i remember so fondly brings me to tears

ME TOO! PROUD SCOTTISH LASSIE! 😀 🏴🏴🏴
Scottish Gaelic is so beautiful!! I'm from a really mixed ethnicity family that's ancestors originally came from Whales to America long ago. Even though Welsh and Scottish aren't exactly the same, this language and song in particular feel like a call back to my roots! :) I really hope to visit the Celtic countries sometime and see the places my ancestors once lived!
Helo, dwi'n o Gymru, ac rydw i'n gallu siarad cymraeg. (I'm from Wales and can speak Welsh)
Interesting, how much information on your family history have you gotten? I know it's really hard. Lol, I have crazy relatives. There's apparently a reason why I'm not fond of the French... :p
Kasia Skyler Haha, thats so cool! My dad does genealogy as a hobby so I know a pretty good amount about my family history. We came from the clan MacGregor. After having to denounce the name MacGregor due to the Act of the Scottish Parliament in 1617, our name changed a lot and eventually became White.
Phoebe White Oooohhh, interesting! What is your opinion on Scottish independence?
An ancestor of mine, who was a woman on my great grandfather's side actually captured twelve french troops during the revolution.
I think my family tree goes back to the sixteen hundreds so far - there are names like (mother's side) Presdee, Venables and my real surname is Davey, so it's cool to hear about ancestors. :)
Well I don't know too much about politics or that case individually, so I don't think I can really have a good opinion on it. With just an outsider's view, I say Scotland could become independent. But again, I don't really know the situation so I can't justly say either way.

Still touches my soul
I lost my parents and grandparents around the time this came to theaters I remember being feeling completely alone a kid with no one..went and seen this movie with my class I cried cause I learned to be brave alone but I wish I still had the protection and love of my mother and grandmother especially I miss them so and this song reminds me of them..
I was 14 when this happened as well
I'm sorry for you loss🙏
How did you lose your relatives if you don't mind me?
I cannot stress how important it was to have the mother sing this instead of just a disembodied voices. Really brought the culture home in your heart and made it so personal
I will use this song on my wedding day
I want my mother to come by my side with this song...
Since this movie describes my relationship with my mother. Conflictive and difficult.
But at least in these last months. My mother began to change, and I with her. I realized many things and asked me for forgiveness for more.
And I realized how much I love her... And how much I missed their hugs.
We recently saw this movie. And she told me at last.
"I want to be able to become happy together. And share with you what you love."
I had a baby girl last week. We have Scottish and Irish heritage, so I sing her to sleep along to this video. I don’t get all the words exactly right, but I know she feels the love behind it.
You know, sometimes I bite my lip and try to stay happy, even though my mother didn't love me or cared for me as a child. The song is still wonderful. Thanks for making it! ❤️
I'm sorry that happened to you and you deserve love
I ve a mother i luv her but not that much she treated me bad when i was a child i was so wierd she never understood that im diff from my sisters she used to say that im a liar while iwas not she used to say that im stupid while i was not she used to destroy my personality i was always crying i cnt fotget these memories
This is very sad, I'm sorry guys. So heartbreaking💔

This hurts when you and your mom don’t have a good relationship.yet you love her so much you imagine her hugging you like the old times when you were a younger singing her own lullabies and making you feel fuzzy inside, every time you were scared or hurt she’d comfort you and do your hair cook for you and play with you like a true mother she’d do everything for you,now you live with the feeling you strayed away from her.I love you mommy happy late birthday I love you

There needs to be Brave 2. That would be more exciting than Toy Story 5
I’m around half Scottish, but I was born and raised in America. I’m really interested in the ancient culture and history there, and hearing this just kind of brings everything back. It’s like a calling I can’t explain. I love this song so much.
This is the song I sang at my Nana's funeral. I cry every time. I practiced so often to learn how to pronounce it. I wanted to have something of her culture to remind me of her. I can't watch brave without thinking of her and bawling.
this is the sweetest song I have ever heard
I didn't have my mom all the time growing up, when this movie came out it was one of those times where she wasn't there. During half that movie little 4yr old me cried so hard especially when this scene came up and merida and her mom sang together LOL I wished so bad that my mom was there for me too
Why did I start tearing up when she started singing. Is she that angelic?
If anyone is reading this I am half Scottish and of the descent. This makes me feel comfort because I feel like I’m around my people and my culture. May god bless my people and there culture
I truly love this song and some think it's boring but you have to appreciate this kind of music
I’m Scottish and speak Gaelic so I was brought up with this music and I’m not gonna lie to you, after 12 years of it, it does get pretty boring. It might also be my age? I’m 15 so my gran is more likely to listen to it. I’ve also had bad experiences in the past at the Mód (a Gaelic ‘festival’ that happens most years and you can enter competitions in) where I forgot words for my song and ran off the stage and it was a big deal but anyway, it scarred me. I do love the vatersay boys tho I would happily listen to them everyday and I love a bit a peat and diesel! But there is only so much of this I can listen to before the memories come FlOoDiNg BaCk.
