He was meaning mike wasn't as strong as he was portraying. And with that board and that run out. Queens was basically a bluff by the river. Any ace x you made 2 pair. Or the ace was good enough. Plus Any set or 98 i believe was the nut straight. That's Phil.meant he knew was not that strong. Which he was not for that board.

Hell, I folded a set of Aces on the river 2 weeks ago...and it was the right play.
It's not necessarily a great play or a bad fold, I think this comes down to knowing the player and playing a strategy heads up vs that player. Like Mike said right after the hand, he knew he wouldn't put it all in. Certainly a lot of players would make the call in that situation. I think Mike even put him on having an Ace in his hand.

Although it was an over bet i think you have to call there, youre literally at the top of yoru range and if youre going to play Ace 7 like this and you river the best possible card besides a 7, you have to call a significant portion of the time. Maybe against a nit yeah but against Matusow and the way Kassouf was talking, Matusow could try to take advantage. I thought Kassouf realized this and that was the whole point of the speechplay. I like his personality and he's good for the game but sometimes i feel like he's just talking out of his ass and not really applying it to the decisions he makes. He's gotta realize how his talking affects the other players perspective of his hand. Against a silent more skilled pro, I dont think Matusow ever does this move, the check, on turn , check on river, and then rereaise overbet all in 2.5x pot. I think any good poker player calls there. Youre ahead of wacky two pairs that could be turned into a bluff, AK, KK, QQ, or Jacks even though I think pocket eights or pocket nines are more likely due to the blocker bluff potential to represent the straight, but youre just ahead of SO MUCH here
robinson Arias yeah but he didn't represent a strong top pair at any moment. I think will played it well, raising pre, betting with top top in the flop, checking back the second pair and betting 2 pair on the river. And if you believe when mike says he has a pair, you can assume that it is more likely to be a small one that could have made a set. I dont really know if its worth it to call an all in to win such a small pot.
what hands in MIke's value range is he ahead of? nothing. he's ahead of a bluff. not to mention he told Mike specifically what he had. He doesn't know if he believes him or not, but it's certainly a consideration.

"You have to know who's playing scared money" very true very true if that was a 1/2 game and he had 400 behind instead of 4K he's getting snapped off. Good play by mike. I've played with will a few times at Grosvenor in Luton and I tried to bluff him in a similar spot and didn't get through.
What stakes were you playing in Grosvenor with Will for it not to get thru? 1/2?
1/3 probably, that's what he plays up in London at the Vic - not 100% sure he plays that all the time but have never seen him play bigger...
Luke these are even stacks I played at in 1-3 games uncapped in Las Vegas. It really isn't that high tbh. This has nothing to do with the betsize of 400 or 4k.
to be fair I play at the vic casino in London and Will plays there a lot so its not unusual to see him at lower cash tables and low buy in tournies

It's hard to know if you can trust body language against very experienced pros, you could get owned pretty bad from false tells if they thought you were making calls based on that.
