Sweet Potato Cobbler: Thank you Mandy!
3 Sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced
    2 C. sugar
    2 T Flour
    1/2 tsp Cinnamon
    1/2 tsp Ginger
    1 T Vanilla
    1 1/2 C. water
    2 sticks of butter
    2 refrigerated pie crusts
Preheat oven to 350. Layer the sweet potatoes in a 9x13 casserole dish. Mix together sugar, flour, cinnamon and ginger. Pour over sweet potatoes. Mix together vanilla and water, and pour over the sugar mixture. Melt butter and pour on top, reserving a little bit to brush on top of crusts. Cut the pie crusts in long strips, and arrange on top in a weave pattern. Brush the crusts with the remaining butter. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
Pecan Pie Dip: Thank you Emily!
    1 CUP BROWN SUGAR
    3 TBS BUTTER
    1/3 CUP KARO SYRUP
    1 EGG
(WHISKED AND REMOVE FROM HEAT WHILE YOU WHISK IT IN)
    2 TBS VANILLA
    1 CUP PECANS
    PINCH OF SALT
    CHEESECAKE LAYER:
1- 8OZ PACKAGE OF SOFTENDED CREAM CHEESE
    1/2 CONTAINER OF COOL WHIP
    1 CUP POWDERED SUGAR
    MIX UNTIL SMOOTH
Fancy Nana Pudding: Thank you Lisa!
Make 2 boxes of instant vanilla pudding, add 1/2 tsp of vanilla bean paste (Trader Joe’s is where I get it)
Add 1 C Sour Cream and 1/2 a carton of thawed cool whip, whisk to make light and fluffy, set aside.
Layer the bottom of the trifle bowl with Lady Fingers, (Mamaw went up the sides of the bowl as well) I find Lady finger cookies at Walmart either Balocco brand or Goya brand, I get 2 packs. The reason for Lady Fingers is Mamaw was making a “statement” and that she surely did.
Peel and slice 4-6 bananas depending on your taste and how many you want.
Layer banana slices on top of Lady fingers and cover in about 1/3 of the pudding mixture and repeat this 2-3 more times. Just depends on how fluffy the pudding mixture is that day, you might get an extra layer.
Mamaw always ended with pudding as her top layer and then she would use the remaining thawed cool whip and as she put it “frost the top”.
I take it a step further and I stick Lady fingers down in the “frosting” so they are sticking up out of the top. Makes a great conversation starter, everyone wants to know what that dessert with the odd cookies coming out of the top is. I think it’s because Southerns are so used to Nila wafers in banana pudding and most Southern men have no clue what a Lady Finger cookie is.
Chill over night (if you can hold off that long)

To keep the egg from cooking, it must be tempered. To temper the egg, stir the egg with a small amount of the hot mixture and pour slowly into the rest of the hot mixture stirring constantly. This will keep the egg from "scrambling".

Bunkey was totally right about how to weave the pie crust. 😂 You have to start with the strips on the outside, and then you lay a strip down, and put every other strip over the top from the outside. Then lay a strip down, and lay the OTHER strips over the top. And then repeat.

You have to temper the egg. You do this by whisking your egg and add just a little of the mixture to the egg. You are bringing up the temp of the egg to the mixture and then add the egg mixture to the heated mixture.

Use chessmen cookies and warm and add the pudding to 8 oz room temperature cream cheese and mix and fold 8 oz. Of Cool whip. Into that. Meijer the bottom of your casserole dish with chessmen cookies thin layer some of the mixture on top of the cookies no baking and involved and it is to die for. Vikki Thompson

For Thanksgiving, I made a brown butter sweet potato pie but I replace the white sugar for brown sugar and I top it with mini marshmallows and put it under the broiler until they are light brown for a toasted marshmallow flavor. My husband was SO reluctant to try it but once he did, he fell in love, requested it for Christmas AND ate all of the leftovers by himself!!

What you want to do with the egg is called "tempering" Take some of the hot liquid and mix the egg and sugar together in a separate bowl and THEN mix it back into the hot liquid. That keeps the egg from cooking.

My sons father and I have known each other for 43 years and I know one of his favorite things growing up was banana pudding. I have never made it for him in all that time because I am not overly fond of bananas. His mother died not too long ago so I invited him to Thanksgiving with our son. I am definitely going to try this recipe for him as a surprise. I am sure he will appreciate it and knowing that I got the recipe.
Please keep me in your prayers as I am recovering from cancer surgery.

My husband and I have been married 33 years as of the day after Thanksgiving. Every year I make a pumpkin pie and a anniversary cake. My husband didn't get any of his grooms cake. And I made pies and a almond raspberry cake for our wedding. So every year I make a cake decorated like the top tier of a wedding cake. My pumpkin pie is super easy. Carolyn's pumpkin pie:
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    Mix 1 can pumpkin puree
    1 can sweetened condensed milk
    1 tsp vanilla
    1 egg
    1 pinch of salt
    2 Tblsp pumpkin pie spice
    1 graham cracker crust
Place graham cracker crust on baking sheet. Pour mixture into crust. Bake 45 mins or until set with slightly giggly center. Turn oven off and open door slightly. Allow to cool. Then refrigerate.

To give you all a good laugh - - - In Texas we always laugh about the way y’all pronounce “Pecan”. A “pee can” is something our great grannies put under the bed for a necessary need during the night. ☺️ Love y’all❣️
** Is it pronounced peecan or pecan?
We can all rest assured that there is no one proper pronunciation for the word pecan; though, the most accepted is "pi-KAHN." The word pecan originated from the Algonquin term pacane and the iteration we are most familiar with was used in the mid-1700s

Thank you! My parents were from southern Indiana and they said piKAHN - and so do I - because at my grandparents in Indiana we used the pee can at night! But my husband and his family members from South Georgia pronounce it PEE can. And that triggers my visual image 🤦‍♀️😂

My grandma was the queen of sweet potatoes and she used to use butter and brown sugar, for she would boil the whole sweet potato until they were just barely forktender peel them and then put butter and brown sugar and then do another layer, butter and brown sugar she would cut them into those little medallions like you did also and layer them with butter and brown sugar and my husband is Mexican and they do the same thing with butter and brown sugar but using pumpkins is a good way to use up your pumpkins from Halloween

When you get to the part where you add the egg, scramble the egg in a bowl and put some of your caramel mixture in with the egg and stir it constantly you get it mixed then add it back into the rest of your caramel mix that is called tempering and you won’t have scrambled eggs

I make a similar version of the sweet potatoes that my friend from Norway use to make. Scrub the potatoes and slice them (don't peel) a bit thinner. Lay them out like you did. The measurements will vary depending on how many sweet potatoes but mix 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, cinnamon, ground cloves, ginger and nutmeg and sprinkle over top. Add fresh squeezed orange with some zest (or Orange extract if you don't have an orange) and also vanilla. Take 1 stick of cold butter and cut it into tablespoons and dot it on top. Bake in a pre-heated 375 oven. When the butter has melted, use a spatula to stir/flip over the potatoes so everyone gets some coverage. Bake until the potatoes are tender and flappy. Remove and cool. These are so good and easy.

To temper the egg is the ticket when you're making candy or sweets or what have you what you do is slowly whisk you with the eggs and you slowly whisk in a little bit of the hot ingredients at a time while whisking the egg at the same time just a tiny bit and then you get it to the same temperature and then you add the egg to the pan since it's the same temperature

I have a folder dedicated to your videos full of saved videos I’ve been binge watching! I also love seeing your home decor! Happy Thanksgiving
