Read the book back in the day and do believe some of it but the rest you can tell the author added some extra in there. The media back in the early 90s before that book kind of created this image of MJ as almost perfect. To the point they thought MJ did no wrong. Most people with some sense knew MJ was tough and to be that way and win can only be done via ruthlessness. To win like he did it is the only way. As I said people with half a brain knew better than to believe the image but at the same time people knew not to believe everything in that book either. Remember, MJ about that life and always will be whether as a player or an owner.

Have any of you read the book or any other book by the author. It’s unofficial a team source said or another team source said. Nothing emotional about it. Who said it best. Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing and that was MJ’s satay of mind. I hated MJ in the 80s and 90s. Bad Boys all the way, now that is a team I will get emotional about. Nobody ever brings them up as possibly the greatest team. I mean they had to go through Bird and the Celtics, MJ and the Bulls and then Magic and the Lakers. So yeah not made up shit but the book can also be seen the same. What was made up was everything the book and the image of MJ. He is a man that eats, bleeds and shits like everyone. The difference is he really believed in that state of mind in that Vince Lombardi quote.

"“The most damning thing I remember hearing. And God rest his soul, I can give up his anonymity now: Wes Unseld told me this,” Understandably, Wise asked Unseld how he knew that Jordan had ruined the locker room. The big man responded with a damning piece of evidence.
“How do I know that? I just went around and asked every player if they would chip in for a retirement gift for him, give him something nice. All of them turned their backs on me,” Unseld explained, according to Wise’s retelling. “And [Wise] said, “Every player?” And [Unseld] goes, “Unanimous.”

That's just plain STUPID. Horace Grant made his only Allstar game the year Jordan left. He then was offered big money to go to Orlando and left, and the Bulls missed him in 1995 more than they missed Jordan the year before. Then, that season Jordan returns to the Bulls and Grant DESTROYED the Bulls in the playoffs with Jordan. The next year he gets hurt and misses the ECF and the Bulls, with Rodman, sweep the Magic. Notice a trend? He then joined the Lakers and won another title. He and Pippen carried the ball hog Jordan to titles, not the other way around.

My problem here is with people like you singling out Horace Grant without any proof that he is the only person who shared team issues with Sam Smith. You're trying to put it all on Grant. I could understand if Jordan had only treated Grant that way but that's not the case. It's many people over many years. You truly believe that only one person is gonna speak up to Smith about that stuff? You believe Grant was the only guy because Jordan said so? You think Jordan hasn't ever lied and everything he says is always 100% the truth? We're talking about a guy who cheated on his wife, many times, and who still won't come clean about his part in keeping Isiah off The Dream Team.
Who cares if Grant told things to Smith? Jordan deserves to be called out for that stuff because you shouldn't treat people that way. This isn't the fucking mafia, either. You're probably one of these guys who says "snitches get stitches". Maybe someone from Team Jordan ought to put a hit out on Grant for opening his mouth? Would that make you feel better? You rush to the video to post a comment about Grant being a snitch. Why? Can't handle Jordan being called out so you feel obligated to defend him? It's ok for you to talk shit about Horace Grant but not ok for others to call out Jordan?

@I Am King You guys say the most completely illogical things. When you say "accomplishments and accolades", you are ONLY talking raw scoring ONLY. Wilt MURDERS him in rebounds, I believe 25-5 rebounds a game. Wilt also DESTROYS him in scoring. Jordan had five 60 point games, Wilt had 32. Jordan had 31 50 point games. Wilt had 113. Jordan had 173 40 point games. Wilt had 271. Jordan had 25 career triple doubles, including just TWO in the playoffs. Wilt had 78. By ANY measure, Wilt DWARFS Jordan statistically. So, we have to move the goalposts and say that stats don't MATTER anymore in Jordan v Wilt GOAT debate. Winning is everything now.
Than, you say, welllll, if winning MATTERED, WHY is this guy calling Jordan with three sub .500 seasons and ONE title the GOAT when Magic was still playing and he had ZERO losing seasons, 5 titles, 9 Finals appearances and 3 MVPs? What is Jordan's legacy compared to Magics? WOOOOOO, did we say "legacy"? No, it doesn't matter what Magic has DONE!! It's the "eye test", stupid? It's amazing how Lebron fans always bring up Jordan's 1 and 9 playoff record his first 3 years, when Lebron didn't even make the playoffs his first 2 seasons. Lebron never faced an opponent as good as the Boston Celtics in the first round. It's like Lebron facing the Warriors in the first round. Jordan was a one-man show who couldn't beat a team of 4 Hall of Famers by himself. Jordan only had one other all-star and won 3 chips. Lebron had to go join 2 all-stars and hall-of-famer Ray Allen to win 2 and lose 2. If Jordan was like Lebron, when he came back from retirement and went to the Wizards he could have went to the Lakers and won 2 more chips with Kobe and Shaq.
