THE END! Yes Its a Doors Song! THATS AWESOME!
you got the fast version....i love it ... Jim wrote this about a accident he saw as a kid...it was a rainy day
We couldn't have lived through the 60s, 70 and 71 without Jim Morrison and the Doors. Yes, he was controversial, so were the time's .. the Civil Rights marches and Anti -War protests. Hell of a time and damn proud to be a part of this history.
@@tommytbone9778 actually that was Peace Frog?
I really feel sorry for anyone born after 1980, they missed growing up with the best decades of music in history.
I was born in 1980, but my mom raised me on the Oldies, which included the 70s. I got into them more in high school, but always loved their music eventhough I didn't know the meaning wheni was little. Always gravitated towards the different instruments in music and they absolutely caught my attention!!
Nah, I'll take my 90's.
Ain't that the truth!
Totally agree
The man with the golden fingers on the keyboard is Ray Manzarek. Without him, the Doors music would not be remembered the same way as it is today.
Don’t forget the late, great Ray Manzarek, whose keyboards gave the doors their signature sound.
yeah since the band had no bass guitar and was all done on his keyboard pedals
Drummer snd guitarist are also great, and the guitarist with fistinctuve sound, but Ray the modt distinctive sound.
Of course the lyrics and performances of great Jim Morrison.
Check out Hot Tuna, LP.
No bass
They were master musicans, they were rock, they were jazz. Just brilliant.
The Doors were among the most controversial & influential rock acts of the 1960s, mostly due to Jim Morrison's lyrics & voice. "Riders On The Storm" is my favorite song by them but they had a lot of hits including "The End", "Roadhouse Blues", "Break On Through (To The Other Side)", "Love Me Two Times", "L.A. Woman", "Hello, I Love You", "Touch Me", "The Unknown Soldier", "Love Her Madly". Sadly Jim Morrison died in 1971 at the age of only 27 but left a great legacy of music.
Obligatory Wikipedia copy and paste comment 😵💫
@@DomoWiggly Very funny. I actually have the cd with all these songs.
You missed my all-time favorite, The Celebration of the Lizard off the Absolutely Live album. When the Music's Over is another classic.
And very sexy.. He had some Mojo Raisin.. ; )
I was 17 when this song was released, i never get tired of the doors, thanks for the reaction!
John Densmore is one of the most underrated drummers in Rock music. He is one of my top inspirations to quit guitar and become a drummer. Amazing band that scared mainstream America. Jim predicted the future with scary accuracy, he talked about electronic music/DJing before it existed. I recommend listening to his interviews. The guy was a genius.
Have you gotten into Michael Shrieve?
@@kentclark6420 Of Course. Doane Perry is another fave.
The Doors were the first band I fell in love with. Even if it wasn’t them the saying sex, drugs and rock’n roll were the Doors! I still listen to them to this day. I think they are timeless. Watched it all Adogg!
Now *please* react to their "Light My Fire" and listen to the drummer--amazing! Also, "Break on Though," and notice the words ("I found an island in your arms, a country in your eyes. But arms are chains, and eyes are lies.." Jim Morrison was a thinker and a poet. Thx for the great music and reactions!
Great song, great review. Did anyone else think this was stepped up a 1/4 notch faster than usual, and Jim's voice was a 1/4 step higher?
I noticed it immediately!
Yes. Very noticeable if you listen to it often as I do. His voice was even higher. My daughter listened to this song when she was in labor. Very fitting. Ha !
yes, instantly. The audio is not right.
No. Sounded right to me.
Yeah! Sounded...different. Couldn't put my finger on it. "IS this the Doors?" 🤔 Is what I was thinking. 😆
Often overlooked, but cool, is the fact this song takes a spiritual look at life, seeing our souls coming to the earth as "riders on the storm." We're born into families, thrown into the world. And the families are not perfect, and the world is not necessarily a gentle place. People may develop warped psychologies, like the killer on the road. We're souls riding out a psychic storm.
Amen to that!
Putin as an example.
@@kentclark6420 Never thought someone like Putin would come along and take on the NWO, kicking butt in Syria and Ukraine.
Dang I love The Doors!! Can't get enough of them. They were master musicians and way ahead of their time. Jim's voice is one of the best ever in this industry. Peace Frog, 20th Century Fox, waiting for the Sun all worth it. Thanks for this one.
Picking up hitchhikers was common in The US up until the late 70's. It was encouraged by the government to save gas during World War 2.
Then guys like Bundy came along. lol
The Doors have such a great sound and so many songs.
Peace Frog is one of my all-time favorite Doors songs. It's greatly underrated. Riders on the storm is a truly amazing song. Try listening to it while driving alone at night. It's creepy as hell.
Jim Morrison & The Doors were amazing. He was known as a poet. Unfortunately, we lost Jim at age 27, which put him in the "27 Club". Many of our talented people died at 27. Between 1969 & 1971, we lost Brian Jones (Rolling Stones), Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix & Jim Morrison. But then you must also add Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse, & Robert Johnson. All that talent gone way too soon.
back when this came out, hitchhiking was pretty common. while there were bad people out there, seems like there were a lot less than there are today.
I hitchhiked a lot in the 70s but I wouldn't do it no more!
Jim was a Kool Kat..
He had that whole Mystic,Shaman,Rebel,Hipster,Muse Vibe goin on ✌
I can see the Doors are in your lane and you’re gonna love the songs recommended to you. I like that you do a little research to get some of the background and context of the group and song. This is an amazing song so well crafted and the mood it creates fits the lyrics to a tee.
So glad you discovered the Doors. Too many amazing tracks to mention.
"Back Door Man" and the Crystal Ship, incredible.
First Bob Dylan and then the Doors have been in my top 10 since I was 10-12 years old, and didn't know a word of English, but their music just touched something in me, when my older brother first played them on his mono cassette recorder, and later on vinyl and in stereo! WOW! 🥰
Turning 60 very soon, the only thing that changed was from age 15; from then I could understand all the words in their lyric! But I keep learning something new when I read the lyrics and listen to the music.
That's art at its finest!!
Just like watching some paintings from the masters that for some reason just get under your skin, and you don't know why and you'll never reach the moment; (just like you never should in life) where you say:
"Self, NOW we finally get it all and there is nothing more to learn!"
Love, Peace and Wisdom! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Do more doors, great band with numerous classic songs. Jim had 3 excellent musicians putting music to his poetry,long-time doors fan from Australia 🇦🇺
Love this song! On playlist. ❤ We girls, loved Beautiful Jim Morrison. Died at 27. My 4 older sisters cried for days.
It's refreshing to see the younger generation discovering the best music Era that I grew up with.
I lived in San Diego, California during the mid and late 1970s. EVERY TIME it rained, which wasn't that often, all the rock radio stations would play this song. Thank you, again for bringing good music forward...into another CENTURY!
He's a symbolist. He's evoking creepy mysterious feelings by talking about a killer walking a dark road.
Great song from a great album. Musicianship is superlative. The atmosphere builds with the music. You can hear the jazz influences here.i wonder what they could have achieved if Jim hadn't passed away then
When I was at Venice Beach I was in heaven. Being where the Doors begin their journey. I love love love the Doors
We always picked anyone up who was hitching a ride. Back in the 50's & 60's.
Love this song. I started drawing a picture of him for my brother. He loves them! lol. Thank you for another great video!
Ah, The Doors, Morrison's voice was mesmerizing. What a story teller. They made a movie about the Doors. Val Kilmer was great. ❤❤❤❤❤
Who ever wrote 'This is to long' during that piano solo is nuts.
Love how the Ivorys sound like rain drops.
People used to pick up hitchhikers all the time in the sixties and seventies. Sometimes that's how I got home from school. This pervert pick me up one time wanted me to go watch some porm at his house. I told him to let me out right here and I still had two miles to go. He let me out
I was a pallbearer for a woodshop classmate, in high school. He, Chris, died when he and another friend hit a tree in a park on the south side of town. Ray, the driver, survived. And almost exactly one year later, Ray and a couple other guys, picked up a hitchhiker asking for a ride. The hitchhiker pulled a gun on them to rob them, but Ray refused, and the hitchhiker shot Ray through the neck and fled. Ray didn't suffer long, however. It was reported that he pass in a matter of only a few minutes. RIP, Ray and Chris
One of the smoother vocal delivers from Jim Morrison. He’s a very unusual lead singer, depending on the song, he sings, he chants, talks, rants, recites poetry, preaches- often, within the same song.
A poet genius🎵❗. Oliver Stones' movie THE DOORS did the band history justice. Great band from a great era.
In the 60s, people hitchhiked across the country, I myself 'hitched' across the State 2x a month to 'get a little' (As Jim would say), from my High School Sweetheart, even in the winter, (I stayed faithful through college).😇
The part that makes this song eerie is that if you listen close he's whispering the lyrics behind his vocals.
The Doors "LIGHT MY FIRE" ❤️
I’ve liked them since I first heard them back in the late 60’s. I never get tired of hearing Light My Fire.
There was a hitchhiker in 1959 that Jim heard the story…the hitchhiker was picked up by a family…he tormented them…before killing them one by one…
Jim was a member of the 27 club along with Jimi Hendricks Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain who all died at at age 27

Hi ADOGG!! YOU HAVE TO HEAR "THE END" !! If you saw the movie "Apocalypse Now" you probably heard it. It's their best song.
There was a short version that was for am radio. This song came out around Halloween in my area along with Classic IV Spooky. Great childhood
Hitchhiking was huge in my day. Everyone did it. No wheels? Hitchhike across the country no problem. We had the BEST music in history and nothing as good since
Love the Doors. N Morrison and the Doors had a special sound that I could listen to always. Riders on the Storm is a very long song. Enjoy!!
Jim had a very sad life.
I listened to this in the 70's and I always pictured a old car in the night in a storm with fog like a killer or a stalker. Scary but cool song. Creepy
Besides a lot more, I like the organ and the drumming so much.
I am happy that you take on the pearls from a time when music flourished.
Bought this record in 73' when I was 15. Had a component stereo worth $500. It was on my turntable Every. Night. For months. It never gets old.
I think you'd really like L.A. Woman by then, just happens to be one of my favorites. When I first found The Doors I listened to nothing but them. For a cpl years. They have a great catalog. Please do more
moonlight drive, hello-i love you, crystal ship, light my fire
This final album had Jerry Scheff on bass from the Elvis Presley band. Prior to this keyboardist Ray Manzarek handled the bass function. Absolutely loved this final album and Morrison actually sobered up for this session due to the addition of Jerry sitting in covering the musical low end.
You got to do:
Break On Through
Light My Fire
People Are Strange
Love Me Two Times
LA Woman
Love Her Madly
Touch Me
The Cristal Ship
When the Music's Over
Peacefrog
Gloria
The End
...and the list goes on
I think the killer on the road lyrics referenced a serial killer that was going around at the time hitchhiking named billy cook.
The line goes "Actor out on Loan" not actor out alone
Thank you! I thought I was going nuts for a second!
I discovered the Doors in the 70's. My father got into my record collection and discovered the Doors and loved them. Then he got into my reggae records.
"TIME HAS COME TODAY" - The Chambers Brothers. Album long version... PLEASE and Thank You. Have a Spectacular Day
YES!! I've been dying for someone to react to that song! But it's GOT to be the long version.
Time Has Come Today 🔥🔥🔥....is one of my favorites from that era & a great tribute to Vietnam Vets. Sheryl Crow even covered it. Its on UA-cam.Real music 🎵 and lyrics back in the day. We were so fortunate.
Check out their remake of the song Gloria!!🔥
my mom bought me this 45 when I was 10 years old! after she heard it she said she never would have bought it if she knew it sounded like that and had those words in it!
This is the first time I've heard the lyric "sweet memory will die", the version I've heard had the lyric "sweet family will die". ?
Yes, Jim Morrison a member of the 27 yr. Club. Too many great artists who died at 27 from drugs. A few others; Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Brian Jones, Curt Cobain and Amy Winehouse very sad and tragic.
Love the storm sounds-make this a great headphones song.
Great reaction, this song has a very chill vibe. Doors are classic... I'd recommend Peace Frog next 👍
A good one brother. Brings back memories of when I was young and foolish.
The killer on the road he's talking about is serial killer Billy Cook. He was known to hitchhike and one poor family picked him up.
Great to see you enjoy the Doors 🇺🇸👍
I was 13 and remember exactly where I was the first time I heard it. I was in the tavern at the lake cottage my parents had rented for the week. I was drinking my first root beer (which turned into a lifelong passion for root beer) and playing the hockey puck style bowling alley game while this song played on the radio.
Best way to experience the great Doors...just watch The Doors movie, with Val Kilmer....brilliant sound track and a great way to understand a tremendously talented group of young muscians taken on a whirlwind ride, by a deeply talented poet and singer, carrying a lot of personal baggage that all leads to an early death
This was on their last album, which was being mixed when Jim died in Paris, so they never performed this live with Jim. I always felt like the whispering background vocals echoing the lead vocals felt like Jim's ghost chiming in.
Love to hear this on vinyl! The storm at the beginning and all the nuances of Jim’s voice and Rays keyboard playing just hit hard with headphones and vinyl. #iamthelizardking #ripjimmorrison #27club If you want to learn a bit about the Doors you should watch The Doors movie with Val Kilmer. He did a great job of playing Jim and the movie was really good. Jim was highly intelligent and highly imaginative and it shows in his lyrics. Hard to believe he’s been dead since 1971 and still making an impact 50 years later. I grew up to the doors because I’m the first born child of a hippie father..an original 1960’s flower power hippie, and he had a vast love of all kinds of music. This song is in my earliest childhood memories and it always makes me think of my dad when I hear it #ripdaddy2018 #missyou
Give this a listen, Boz Scaggs "Lone me a dime" with Duane Allman on guitar.
the road is also called highway men, danger. Even before cars the road is where bad thing can happen
Love to see you dancin', Adogg. Made my morning.
A true poet, Many never understood him, due to the strange lyrics and metaphors he used...His Lizard King really threw people off, but he is a true Lizard King, His alter ego, that imitates a Native American shaman...This one is a reference to a screenplay he wrote called The Hitchhiker who goes on a murder spree. An existential traveler, faceless and dangerous, a drifting stranger with violent fantasies, a mystery tramp: the killer on the road. Beware of Hitchhikers. This was the last song on the last Doors album with Morrison. RIP Lizard King...Sad loss for the music world...Thanx for great reaction, Peace
I love the you reacted to this song i love the doors Jim Morrison was a poet. i subscribed man you ROCK!!!☮
So you know, RUN DMC is one of the originators of RAP........Well the DOORS were are that to Rock/blues. Jim Morrison died when he was only 28. He did so much in so little time..think about 28..SO young. my top 3 bands of ALl-time are Jimi Hendrix Experience-Led Zeppelin and the DOORS
Oh yeah baby, love the Doors! This is great summer evening cruising music. (Not that we can afford the gas anymore. 🙄) "The End" is a trip, from the movie Apocalypse Now. Enjoy the rabbit hole!♡♡♡
I dig the bass line
The lyric video has several mistakes. That line about the hitchhiker should read...
"If you give this man a ride, sweet family will die."
There was a serial killer who hitched a ride with a family and killed them all. I forget his name. Jim made that line about him.
The 🦎 👑 was incredible!
LOVE this one!
This is my favorite Doors song and a great driving song on my commute. Thank you Dagmar S and Adogg. :)
Listen to this on acid. A true trip. Been doing that since it came out.
Just because u responded straight, listen and respond trippin.
Oh, everybody hitch hiked and gave rides before this came out.
Hitch hiking was a big thing in the 70's, it started out safe then the crazies came out!
One of my absolute favorite Doors songs.
You really should listen to the original cut.
"Light My Fire" is a really worth a look Adogg! Lots of talent, gone too soon.
Yeah, Once upon a time, Great music was basically the norm. How many of us miss those days. Happy you enjoy. Check out L A. Women. One of the best.
I swear the lyric video has an error.
It's not if you give this man a ride
Sweet memory will die.
It's If you give this man a ride
Sweet *FAMILY* will die.
Listen for yourself.
Nice groove!
If you really want some lyrics that will blow your mind, do The Doors song, The End.
There was more than one serial killer roaming the roads back then.
Top 5 band of all time
DagmarS forgot to mention the song Peace Frog. My personal favorite Doors song.
Jim Morrison had no problem embracing the mystery of our existence.
YOUR CHANNEL IS GREATLY APPRECIATED , BY ALL AGES ! A GREAT SONG IS A GREAT PIECEOF MUSIC. AND MUSIC IS MEDICINE. MUSIC IS EVERYTHING. YOU GET IT. YOUR A SMART GUY. 🔥❤
"The End" is a great but LONG song
LA Woman should be the next Doors song, I think.
Hitchhiking was a common practice in the 60's and 70's....
