Not only did The Doors have a genius for a front man, the band itself was just kick-ass.
This. Exactly this.
The Doors were among the most controversial & influential rock acts of the 60's, mostly due to Jim Morrison's lyrics & voice. They had a lot of great songs such as "Roadhouse Blues", "Love Me Two Times", "The End", "Break On Through (To The Other Side)", "People Are Strange", "Light My Fire", "L.A. Woman", "Hello, I Love You", "Touch Me", "The Unknown Soldier", "Love Her Madly". Sadly Jim Morrison died in 1971 at the age of only 27 but left a great legacy of music.
You got it down my my old school associate. Saw them and Jim was always drunk and a jerk. The Doors never missed a beat.
And they only really got going when he was 21 so that's only 6 years of recording and performing. And his music still lives on. Amazing
These guys were phenomenal. Deep, dark, questioning, exploring, then light, funny, loving, fun. A catalog worth getting into. Excellent musicians and Jim Morrison with his amazing voice.
This is what you get when you combine a group of classically trained musicians with one of the greatest musical poets of his generation.
Thanks for this great reaction video! I grew up listening to these songs and knew all the words to the songs as a young girl. I had no idea what they meant! LOL.. my brother went to High School with Jim Morrison and said that he was absolutely crazy and out there. Those were the Vietnam days and my bro was the first registered hippy in Albuquerque New Mexico. Those were some dark days and we are on the verge of repeating history again.. and again.. and again. Peace and love only
What a song. It's really about the coming of age during that time. I ❤ it.
Moody 60's music at it's best! Jim Morrison's sultry vocals, that keyboard work, amazing bass... This is best listened to on a long drive home on a rainy night!
Roadhouse Blues might I suggest… really there are many great classic Doors songs! Hippie vibe for sure 😊✌️
I'm new to your channel and love your reaction videos. I'm in my late 60s and enjoy watching your reactions to the older music. I've got 2 recommendations for you:
Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade of Pale and
Fleetwood Mac - Silver Springs.
Keep up the great work! 👍
This band is definitely in the genius rank. Listened to The Doors since I was a child. My father introduced them to me. This entire band is unique, beyond talented & intelligent. Thank you for sharing.
Love this song and remains on road trip playlist. ❤ thanks for playing.
Love the Doors!
An all time classic great song by this amazing band. Rock On.
I remember this when it came out new driving to school. Damn I'm old...best music in the 60s & 70s! Love your reactions!
Listen to LA Woman
You are right, Greg. It was a song to light up a joint and mellow out. I saw the Doors in Miami. Unfortunately Jim was too drunk to perform this song. But at least we have it perserved for all time in their albums. You have great rhythm for dancing. ❤. FYI.. Dan Vasc just launched his Christmas song. Epic doesn't even cover it.
The lizard king ,he was a poet with a band who was one of the first to experiment with unique unorthodox sounds and made it tell a story .
WOW! Did that take me back to an enigmatic time and place in my past!! Yikes!! You were correct when you said about being stoned!! That was the 70’s! The music alone is haunting, definitely taking you into a different zone. There were quite a few songs in the late 60’s and into the 70’s that had a mysterious vibe. Glad I made it out alive!! 🤣
Yeah girl! I always wonder how I survived too...high five!
I suppose it's alright to admit having been chewing on cactus when we caught The Doors in Eugene....It was the truth and we all stepped up....every time I get to hear this again, I'm 80 now, it makes me smile 'cause we all did well....Thankyou Jim for burning the candle at both ends and the middle to read us the message.
“Into this world we’re thrown.”
“Damn!”
You could get lost in this rabbit hole.... this is my era.... part hippie part R&B part blues all DOORS.... this is what we call head music.... obviously you figured out why.... great reaction dude! Stoned trippin....
Hypnotic sounds. The instrumental part gives you a brain massage.
so smooth
Love this song
Yes! It was and still is HEAD music. Big fan myself old hippy that I am! Take a trip and never leave my house!
My fav from them great tune Go Saints
Take him by the hand, make him understand.
Yes it was during the hippie generation and smoking going on big time😅 lots of long instrumentals going on
Yeah, hippy, but with true musicians' talent. This song is a classic. I was 19 when it was popular. It's still a major influence in my past.
Love me some Jim ❤❤
I agree, hippie is fair
Love your reactions! Keep it up
Love your reactions buddy
It makes me think of Vietnam every time I hear it😢 it is definitely hippie music. They used to do some kind of drug the name of it. I can’t remember but I think the first time I heard this song was with Robin Williams the movie hello Vietnam.
The Doors movie was great.
If you enjoy a groovy hippie vibe ... Listen to some Traffic.
Very jazzy I always felt. Great reaction.
Absolutely used to smoke doobies and listen to be doors. Watch the movie to get the atmosphere. Yay hippies!
I'm new thank you so much for doing this song take care bye❤
Watch the video the keyboard player Ray Manzarek made of how he came up with the notes to play for this while the bass guitar player was having trouble following it on the guitar with the way he had to hold his hands while playing along with it. Really worth an 11 minute listen on how they came up with the theme of this one also from an old western related tune.
THIS WAS THEIR LAST ALBUM ( L.A. WOMAN ) TOGETHER GREG DUE TO THE PASSING ON OF ( JIM MORRISON ) R.I.P. ☹TO 'THE GREAT AMERICAN POET' YOU NEED TO DO THE TITLE TRACK GREG ( L.A. WOMAN )😊
Calm thunderstorms vibe
Chilling music Man
This will be good!
Yup.....😊
This music from the late 60s/early 70s was meant to be listened to high on weed, we all smoked it.
Jim wrote all the lyrics. The keyboard player Ray Manzarekr wrote all the music.
Not much else can be so ethereal whole also dark and shadowed
How about listening to Apache by the Shadows - fabulous instrumental
Great reaction ! Need to do ROADHOUSE BLUES by the Doors studio version next
My personal anthem is This song, thank you truly! He was an amazing poet, Manzarik and Krieger are not to be outdone, in my opinion. Morrison, I'm so glad he was around for me to experience.😢
Yep. We smoked a little to this. 😂
I'd love to hear a reaction to lesser known one...The Straubs...Hero and Heroine.
Great song
the bass player on this song & album completely kicked @ss
He’s getting deep my dude
Hey Greg! You just ran into one.
If you were a smoker I'd recommend "Mona" by Quicksilver Messenger Service. But since you're not, you'd probably not enjoy the long John Cipollina rif. :-D
Cars hiss by my window is another great song by the Doors.
You should hear the version where Snoop Dogg is in it
If you thought Lola was crazy...you need to check out Lou Reeds song "Take a Walk on the Wildside"
👍👍💯
Your like ok where done 😂 nope buddy..
🤘🏽⚜️🤘🏽
If you're open to more country songs consider reacting to Brooks and Dunn's 1990s cover of BW Stephenson's 1973 hit "My Maria". It's a country band, but in 1973 not seen as a country song.
That's a favorite of mine... my Maria!!❤
Big up bro ❤. Check out some Fleetwood Mack and Eric Clapton 🎼🎙🎚🎛👍
It's a lure lol
Most likely,they were stoned.We call this"trippy" music...☮😉
Ditto lol
Lol very stoned 😊
There is a movie The Doors
The killer on the road was in California. Killing people. Freaked Jim out. If you give this man a ride…sweet Emily will die. Lyrics!
There is no bad Doors song
The Lizard King
Was fortunate enough to see them perform in 19 68 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix.
It was during the state fair. A ticket for one was a ticket for the other.
After the concert the band rode the Tramway across the fairgrounds.
And as they did they screamed obscenities and spit on people below. That caused a little controversy. Something the band and fans was already used to..
✌️
🤠🏞️🐂
dude, where's the blacklight?
Do yourself a favor and take a deep dive into their catalog. You won't be sorry.
Don't try to make sense of hi m is impossible lol
If you liked that so much listen to L A women
You could get lost in this rabbit hole.... this is my era.... part hippie part R&B part blues all DOORS.... this is what we call head music.... obviously you figured out why.... great reaction dude! Stoned trippin....
