This made a huge impact!! I saw some video saying I should deactivate my internal GPU so that my RTX 4090 would get all the work load. A load of nonsence it now turns out. My big project went from rendering in H265 in 1 hour 46 min, down to only 22!! minutes when enabeling the integrated 630 gpu. Both worked hard, more memory was used(I have 64gb) and the load on my CPU was reduced. Thanks alot mate!!!
You're totally right. I love having Intel iGPUs even on the older CPUs (which I am currently on still). Would love to see a video on 12th gen Intel perform with AV1 playback though. There's a lack of good content out there discussing this specific use case. It would be great to elaborate on it more since newer CPUs and GPUs now include AV1 hardware decoders. 😁
They wanted to sell me a build with model F, but with a little research I bought model K, since I was not going to buy a video card yet. For an integrated one, it performs very well, plus I usually encode videos with HandBrake, and with the igpu better results are obtained.

Was recomanded ages ago to disable igpu? Now during my build I have come across a few interesting things. Because I work as a photographer I have my dual monitor setup & everthing configured to work on my old build I have not yet completely moved over due to having to calibrate screens, etc... I have been using Task manager to monitor Gpu usage etc while working, ( Workflow Bridge - ACR - Photoshop.) So one day I am using ACR & realize my Igpu is shooting up & down from 100% & my 1660 is doing like 1 -10 % hardly anything but in Photoshop was mostly 1660. So I checked & in Photoshop my 1660 was activated but in ACR only the igpu & I could not change it. Then I realized I forgot to plug the monitors back into the 1660 so they were connected through the mother board. I did not realize Photoshop could use the GPU 1660 when connected through the motherboard, and then why does Camera raw not? Just makes me wonder with Davinci Resolve & Premiere what difference it would make connecting through the mother board or GPU?
Photoshop was using your GPU coz it's programmed to use NVidia GPUs if they're installed and Drivers are up to date and then your iGPU was running the monitors. Generally I'd recommend running your monitors through the dGPU. ACR most likely can't utilize NVidia GPUs, but I'm not sure how they've programmed it. :)

Honestly, the biggest pro to having an iGPU is troubleshooting. What are you going to do if your GPU suddenly has no display out? If you have an iGPU it's easy. You plug your display cable into the mobo and start trouble shooting. If you don't? Well, you pretty much have to start swapping parts and tearing down your rig.

I wish there was something similar for Ryzen. I love me some AMD, but I'm going to go 12th gen Intel to get Quick Sync to encode and decide my 4k h. 265 60fps FPS video footage. My Nvidia Titan X GTX and Ryzen 1800x can't handle it.
Yes, same question. I'm thinking about a build with either i5-12500 or Ryzen 5600G. With either option, I won't be using a graphics card. From what I can tell, the 5600G would be better for gaming, but I don't know how they compare for video editing.
Started working with more 4K and timeline was getting chunky, until I enabled the iGPU. If your system is close to bottle-necking on RAM than you definitely will need to add more to take full advantage of the iGPU benefit. I went from 32G to 64G of ram and the system is very smooth, plus it added a few more years of life to this 4yr old system.

Does this advice go for AMD apu’s as well? Should I enable my Ryzen 7 5700G internal Radeon graphics in addition to enabling my RTX 2060 graphics? Or does this only make sense for intel since their encoders are better?
Very interesting video!! Thank you for your time, but i feel the need to repeat the question posted by Nathan Wells (few hours ago): ''Also genuine question about the iGPU I know you are explaining more with editing but can it also help out in streaming as well?'' It would be nice to know if enabling both GPUs will give us smoother and better result on streaming.

I recently ordered an Intel Core i9 12900KF Processor. Despite spending over $5k on a new system, I didn't really see the point in an extra $10 for the Intel Core i9 12900K Processor with it's iGPU. iGPU Graphics performance is not even close to the 3080Ti. I also didn't need to rely on it as a backup as I have backup GPU's to seemed a bit pointless. I was not aware they could work in tandem, especially after reading so much that the iGPU disables itself when a dedicated GPU is installed. Anyway, if they can work in tandem, from my experience I've seen many compatibility issues when trying to run a Hybrid GPU system, including many content creation and engineering titles. Also, why do so many video editing programs have options to enable various encoding, etc via the GPU if that wasn't a good option. Having said this, Ive revised my order and are now getting the K version.
So, have you tried to use igpu and gpu in tandem in davinci resolve? Is there any difference between using them together and using only gpu for video editing?
Here's the real question. What about in things like Blender or Keyshot where you're rendering a scene with a 3d model and other 3d assets you've created? Are you using the encoder/decoder then? I googled around briefly and it doesn't seem so?
So all you do is just enable it? Believe mine is already enabled. My question is if one is running dual monitors, should one of the monitors be connected to the IGPU? I’m currently using a low budget monitor that’s only 60hz, a 240hz and they’re both connected to the DGPU. Thanks 😊
Igpu is worth it. There are many benefits, having additional display options, also the video output can be calibrated easily, if gpu fails atleast you can troubleshoot with igpu running the system, etc.
I agree. I have ryzen 5 3600 and getting some problem with the gpu. I can't use it. I have my old backup i7 6700 (my old pc) that have i gpu. Yeah not for game but when i need for something like excel i can use it. Omg it helps a lot with my work at that time.
this is why amd is making all there ryzen 7000 series iGPU's, because it's important at the very least to have something as a backup incase your video card goes out.
Really glad i saw this video because i am going to build a 12th gen intel system with the IGPu.. But really wished you had used actual 4k footage and tested the actual time in minutes with and without the IGPu vs Nvenc so i would of get an idea of how faster the IGPu is. But thanks again for the information.
I couldn't agree more. In fact, I can edit 4K H264 10 bit 4:2:2 on a laptop with 7th Gen Intel 7700K (HQ) and Nvidia Quadro M1200 mainly because the two GPUs work together.
@@derJackistweg Long story short, I select "Intel Quick Sync" as encoder when exporting from Davinci Resolve (works with H.264 and H.265). Task Manager shows 100% utilisation on the integrated HD Graphics 630, and 50%+ on the Nvidia Quadro, depending on the grading.
I do wish I had known this before upgrading my 5600X to a 5900X, especially since I bought it for $650 just before it plummeted in price to $150 less. I should have gone for the 5700G and saved about $250. In your opinion, is the 5700G the best AMD Zen 3 5000-series CPU with IGPU?
what games are those? those games either have a bug, or old enough to run on iGPU (and doesn't have GPU auto-selection). Never experienced such a thing for years.
Spot on. 👍🍕🍺. With my 12700k and z690 mb and 3 Gen 4 m.2s my limitation is rendering w my older gtx1070. Question does 64gb over 32 make a difference? (And speed?)
As far as I know speed does not make a huge difference. DDR4 3200 and 3600 will be pretty similar in perf. Capacity limitations can definitely slow you down, just check how much ram you are using while working and see if you might need an upgrade. But if you have 32gb at 2666 (example), I don't think it is worth it to go with faster ram, just add other 32gb at the same speed if you need them
Is using 12th gen iGPU enough to run OBS without the dedicated GPU losing performance? because I currently using my 3070 with 3700x and there is some lose in performance in game somehow
what about a AMD Ryzen 7 5700G. 8 core 16 thread cpu with built in vega IGPU.....will it be a good choice for creators as well in combination with a RTX card?
I have a 9900k with a rtx2070 and a laptop with a i7 8750h gtx1050ti using premier pro 2018,20,22 (i have old edids) In my time line when i render in-out all 3 are used to render my time line so everything is green. Now my issue is that my new laptop with 11th gen 11400h and 3050ti doesn't use all 3.... Only cpu and gpu or cpu and igpu.... And for this reason the ''New'' laptop is slower than my 4 year old one.... Do all new hardware stop utilizing all 3?? I have tried a 10700k and is the same with that one as well.... btw i have tried the new adobe as well 2023 but its the same.... Im asking coz you have way more parts available on you to check.... Did they stopped? I have video with my 9900k rendering my time line using all 3 and its so fast and my laptop!! New parts are soooo slow with same footage btw

For me the difference is € 30 for an igpu. Is that to much?
Can you get similar results with the radeon intergrated graphics in 7950x?
this is why amd is making all there ryzen 7000 series iGPU's, because it's important at the very least to have something as a backup incase your video card goes out.
Does it also counts for ryzen apus?
Does it hurt gaming have igpu enabled?
Really glad i saw this video because i am going to build a 12th gen intel system with the IGPu.. But really wished you had used actual 4k footage and tested the actual time in minutes with and without the IGPu vs Nvenc so i would of get an idea of how faster the IGPu is. But thanks again for the information.
Also worth enable igpu on old cpu like the 3770k?
Very cool :) So how do I enable the IGPU in different app, I use mostly Adobe ...
Great info... I am a live streamer and this u for helped a lot...
I couldn't agree more. In fact, I can edit 4K H264 10 bit 4:2:2 on a laptop with 7th Gen Intel 7700K (HQ) and Nvidia Quadro M1200 mainly because the two GPUs work together.
Intel quick sync is NOT supported on 7th gen according to this sheet (which is probably correct)
so on your machine it makes no difference.
AMD Ryzen™ 9 5900HX , 8 Cores/16 Threads
(Total L2 Cache 4MB , Total L3 Cache 16MB , Base Clock 3.3 GHz , up to 4.6 GHz)
GPU AMD Vega 8 Radeon™ Graphics (Graphics Frequency 2100 MHz)
@@lunatik9696 Thanks for mentioning this. However, I am looking for the latest Ryzen APU for desktop PCs and the 5900HX is for mobile platforms.
@@Aaron_Lesse nah it's not worth losing over half your cache.
nope, AMD igpu doesn't have quicksync.
Does i5 11400 have HEVC encoder?
P.S. Awesome video, btw!!!
Yes
@@theTechNotice Then I might buy an RX 6500 and not worry about it not having the HEVC encoder on it. Because I already have i5 11400?
For gaming disabling igpu is better otherwise games have trouble choosing the right graphics card sometimes can also cause some games to not launch
*some games
True
what games are those? those games either have a bug, or old enough to run on iGPU (and doesn't have GPU auto-selection). Never experienced such a thing for years.
what would be benchmark score with JUST UHD igpu without dGPU?
Spot on.
But if you have 32gb at 2666 (example), I don't think it is worth it to go with faster ram, just add other 32gb at the same speed if you need them
Does the same applies for amd igpus?
Is using 12th gen iGPU enough to run OBS without the dedicated GPU losing performance? because I currently using my 3070 with 3700x and there is some lose in performance in game somehow
You wanna run NVENC if you're recording/streaming from OBS.
what about after effects ?
what about a AMD Ryzen 7 5700G. 8 core 16 thread cpu with built in vega IGPU.....will it be a good choice for creators as well in combination with a RTX card?
so if it is for streaming, shoud i use cpu, igpu or gpu?
how good is iGPU quicksync compared with intel Arc GPUs
What's that gorgeous keyboard?
If IGP's are that good then why are top of the line Xeon or Threadripper workstation CPU don't have them?
Can i equalize the missing Decoders from a „RX 6500 XT“ GPU with a Intel 12gen Series CPU? For example the i3 12100 has all the new En/Decoders…
yes.
@@theTechNotice thx for the fast answer! 👍🏻
How does this stack up with Black Magic RAW formats?
Can I combine the VRAM and the two graphics cards?
