Oh man, This is some of the best music you'll ever hear. How lucky I am to have grown up with the best music, and Vanilla Fudge is one of the best.
I used to deliver pizza to this little room in the back of a florists shop (circa 1968-9) in Oceanside, L.I., N Y, where the Vanilla Fudge used to practice ! Sometimes I’d walk in and they would be playing and I’d just sit and listen! Way cool! Aah the old days 😎
Wow How lucky you were -
Hello Dave what Pizza place in Oceanside in those days did you deliver for?My Dad owned a pizza place in Oceanside in those days I worked there as a kid .I know there was a Blossom Heath Florists but dont remember where on Long Beach Road somewhere maybe by Nathans not sure. My Dads restaurant was right in front of Oceanside Junior High School. Was Cafe Maria then he sold it and it was Marios for sometime after that. Glenn P.
WOW!! 👍 What great memories you must have!!
I love this band's version of this song, and this is my favorite video of the song. I also love their version of Bang Bang. VERY COOL!!
In fact, every video performance I have seen of Vanilla Fudge is WAY COOL. They put their own unique and wonderful stamp on everything they do, and I really enjoy them. They look like they would be down to earth, cool guys, as well. ❤
@matt stockton That would be correct. I was ridin' shotgun with Dave R that day. The Fudge preferred Italian sausage, black olives, and green peppers.
Fabulous memory ; wow !!!!
Holy shit. Even after 50 years, they still sounds amazing. Totally unreal.
Yes , they smash it out of the park !! Better then new !!!
They ALL look so good for their age--compared to the Stones, The Who, Zeppelin, KISS, and Aerosmith, bands with members of similar age. Time has been VERY good to the Fudge--especially Mark Stein! I do hope they outlast the Rolling Stones. They are a national treasure, respected by musicians all over the world!
Overall, I agree, but I have to take exception with one thing, in particular. I saw The Who in concert last year, and Roger Daltrey looks MIGHTY FINE to me!! 🔥🔥 I think Paul Stanley is HOT, too. I do really enjoy the music of Vanilla Fudge, and would love to see them in person some day. Their videos are SUPER COOL. ✌ I LOVE their versions of this song and Bang Bang. Are you familiar with the song, Tin Soldier, by the 60s group Small Faces?
How do they look so good ?

Carmine still is one of the best drummers of all time.
He did a clinic at the local music store in town when I was in high school, maybe 1974-75. Changed my life as a drummer forever. Right after he got the Ludwig Octa-Plus kit. He was so good and still is.
Absolutely great. Love him. His harmony is good too, even still.
Don't forget about MR.GINGER BAKER !! 😎
Or Jon Bonham.
Stan clearly stated: "...one of the best drummers..." There is no need to add any other names to this opinion.
After Once Upon A Time In Hollywood I want to listen to every version of this song by this band... Awesome!
Me too
@Pete Corna Yep. Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Rainbow, Iron Butterfly, BOC, Yes, King Crimson, ELP, Trapeze, Wishbone Ash, Black Sabbath, Keef Hartley Band, Jimi Hendrix, way too many to list actually.
@@markrago7217 Your right, way to many. Except maybe BTO and a few cuts from Bloodrock or GFR.
Stupid movie, typical Tarantino crap, racist and banal
@@classicrockstation racist? Ok. Dusk til Dawn? Kill Bill? Maybe, but he specializes in retro schmaltz. Can't glorify all humans...
They just get better with age Mark still has his pipes. One of the best rock bands of all time period! RIP Tim bogert. A legend in his own right
Simply an amazing underrated rock band with classic sound. If anyone 200 years from now asks what classic rock was ...they can just listen to this performance
I remember listening to Vanilla Fudge while in the Army in 1967. The song forever reminds me of that time.
Appice kills it on those drums. Love it.
One of my all time favorite bands and song. Love it.
just awesome want to go back to our time i am 68
One of my favorite live performances was Vanilla Fudge and Rare Earth at the beautiful state theater in Minneapolis. You could really tell they were consummate musicians who had been playing for their whole lives and still loved it.
50 years and still kicking ass. Thanks, guys.
I met Vinny Martel at a Beatles Festival in 2018 and we had about a 30 minute conversation about the time I saw them in 1968. He was really Kool and we took a photo together.
Lovely to hear them play with such verve! Bought the first album when I was fifteen in '67.
Damn! They sound amazing 👍🎹🎸🎤🎼
Vanilla Fudge and especially this song were the best thing I had ever heard back in those days. I still have the LP which I played and scratched to death!
I still have the album too!
@@veritasetlibertas7889 Yayyy 👍
Rock n Roll! It could be the greatest NJ bar song of the 70's......
I was addicted to this song! Had it on tape and took it to VN
One of the greatest sounds of the 60's ..
Great sound and still good vocals after decades of Vanilla Fudge....

Carmine is still one of my all time favoutite drummer, whatever he does is just epic! Outstanding precison in time and dynamics! He is the epitomy of a rock drummer! The band gets better with age!

Wow. 50 years. Greetings From Finland 🐾
WOW love that song. I had the original album and again wow to hear it 50yr's later.
Jim , great still to be around ! This song makes life worth living !!!
In the 80s, don't recall what year, a friend's dad formed an experimental jazz fusion band. I went to one of their rehearsals. The drummer was Carmine Appice. That rehearsal was in Carmine's house on Long Island. I sat right next to him as they played. My jaw dropped and never came back up during the couple of hours I was there.
We did this song in 1968 and got raving applause when ended. The Deep River Rock Band. 1968 LaPorte,Indiana.
Damn, this band just keep on rock n' rollin'....great intensity!!!
Great band, great performance and great hair!
Saw them in Hartford back in 1967. Amazing show!
They own this song. Just a great take on a pop song. Peace, M.A.
one of the few things I regret in my life is that I never got the chance to see these guys live
First concert I ever attended was these guys in St. Petersburg Florida at the Armory in 1968. I'll never forget watching Carmine bang those drums, incredible performance. I was in the 12th Grade and I had to hear this song every morning on the radio before I would leave for school.
Ya , seen them too , In N.Y. opened for a couple of bands ,The Hassles [B.Joel] The Vagrants [Leslie West] "The Rascals"- headlined..Carmine was in awe of Dino as were most and to this day told Me, He's a Great Drummer. This was before J. Bonham got any credits.... Many, do not know the real History.. Peace...
First drummer I ever saw who hit the underside of his cymbals every once in a while _ Philly, 1968.
I am loving these shared memories of songs and what they meant to us.
@@boomer1954ful Me too buddy !!!!
Wow, great memory !
I've only just come to realize how extraordinary Carmen Appice actually is💥
I love this band!
I saw Vanilla Fudge (the original band) live in Ft Worth along with Rare Earth in 1987. Bought the debut album in '67 and their 2nd album the year after. My sons age 42 and 39 are huge fans.
The Fudge are unreal. Saw them in 2019 Kent StaGe Ohio. Will see them again asap. Incredible band.
God I love this song...
Wow. Still a powerhouse 40 years later.
50 years ...
I saw them in Philly in 1968 with Janis Joplin, the Chambers Brothers, Moby Grape, and Buddy Guy. Unbelievable!
Now that's a SHOW !!!!
That was a killer lineup!
have loved them forever, will love them forever
They have my heart. ❤Met them in person in Clearwater, FL.
I really love Tim Bogert I wish he was still there, he stole the show every night every night! Tim and Carmine influenced a hell of a lot of players in their day and that’s a fact!
Go Carmen, love your drumming and enthusiasm.
Fantastic! Just as good as they ever were!!!!
Fabulous. They haven't lost their edge, not one bit.
My song as a kid... before heartbreak...
" Now what in heck could be better than this .. ? "
nada
Me too a few later to much for S.D.A.' s to handle at home as a kid . Know I play it often !!!!!!!
My cousin played bass and was 8 yrs older turned me on to them in ‘68 great band
Such showmen. Carmen Appice is the best hard hitting showman ever. His cymbal and artwork are tremendous. And they really kick ass with the Marshalls and Hammond.
He enjoys legendary status!
These boys can ROCK !!!!!!
OMG my sister's would play this album everyday I've gotta share this with them I love it oh yeah 🖤AWESOME🖤
Legendary, epic, originality, standards setting, not enough superlatives to describe this talent.
Could you imagine going to see the Fudge, one of my favorite all time bands, and watching a British band as their opening act. This happened in Denver ❤on December 23rd, the opening act was no other than Led Zeppelin.
Same in Vancouver! Second time I saw Zeppelin, Fudge opened for them.
Wow - What year?
Saw them in concert at BLK LIFE IN SCOTTSDALE ARIZONA LAST TURSDAY
THEY ARE STILL AWESOME
Excellent version!! 😑😎 Great Band.!!
the greatest drummer ever lived
I still have my original vinyl LP of this song. Loving it
Timeless classic. Outstanding video🎵🎶
Nice start to a great buildup...
what a powerful version of this song.
I got to see Vanilla Fudge play free one evening. I was parking cars at the high-end bar they were playing at, in 1969,San Diego,ca.
nunyer beeznaz what was the bar called? Im from SD
waht a great performance. VF for ever
still one of my favorite songs
Fantastic song and band.
Kick ass
What a voice!!!!!
damn, i can't believe how good these guys sound! time to light up some doobies!
Astonishing
Stunning as always. I have been fortunate to see the Fudge several times over the years live and they truly are one of the most amazing live musicians in the history of rock and roll. I have all their lp's and never get tired of the 'heavy' sound they created. They changed music for the better and have created some timeless classics.
Great to see these fellas still rocking it, Nice!
RIP Tim Bogert.
I just saw them this past July at the State theater in New Brunswick NJ. Great show Carmine Appice is still unbelievable along with Marc Stein and Vinny Martone, hard shoes to fill bass player good also RIP. Tim
Robert Lofrano Tim is alive and well. He retired in ‘09
Whew. For a minute there. . . .
geese Robert, no RIP. you scared us!
I am English and a big fan since the 60's. Got into them after the Four Tops hit with this track. At that time you could go into music shops and listen to records in booths before buying. Was browsing albums one day and was looking at the album 'Vanilla Fudge'. Had never heard of them but saw this track so asked to listen to it. Loved it, best version I had heard so I bought the album. Now have a collection but sadly never seen them in a live performance.Don't think they ever came over here.
that was good old time !
Robert Jamison
Four Tops? I thought it was The Supremes
@@ricklewis5804 yes the Supreme's did it as well but I always preferred the Four Tops version. Eli Stubbs the lead singer had an amazing voice.
Carmen Appice and Ansley Dunbar, 2 of the best drummers of the 60's,70's.
If you like Dunbar and Appice, then you like very hard hitting drummers, mate. Guess who else likes them (besides me, of course): Jeff Beck. He's played with both of them.
Rest In Peace Tim Bogert :°(
Excellent band !! Good music welcome back
Saw these guys several times in the 60s at the Roseland Ballroom in Massachusetts. They were just up on a riser so we heard them from about 10 feet away - practically blew my head off but I loved every minute of it.
Brilliant version the dynamics , tone power so good.
私の特別な曲。忘れられない曲。スプリームの曲。
I love itmore then when it came out ! My dream is to see them live !!!
I wasn't ware about this band till I heard this song in tarentino's movie- Once upon a time in Hollywood 9Climax scene). The band is amazing!!
This song helped me battle alcoholism.
Saw them in '67 or '68 in Daytona Beach at the Bandshell...Oh, for a time machine.
I should have been there,such a great band !
I was 13 when I bought their first album! Mark's voice sure has held up well (much better than mine has).
This is Rock & Roll as played by Pros Long may you run VF
This song never died, does it? Even Covid19 resisto. 👍✌️
WOW! just listened to this again, and boy, the boys must of been putting in some OT on rehearsals! that was quite well done. (even if it has some cosmetics) i've seen em a few times over the paste few years and thats pretty much how its been going+. In a strange way i think that if they keep this up they just might get some major media attention. (they already had a spot on Fallon recently) I mean considering their historical significance and all. Sure would be nice to see them invited to perform at the Grammys. (instead of more and more of ......). If anything, the vocal harmony is sooo spot on. You should hear them do People Get Ready.
I miked Appices drums when he was playing with pink floyd. Momentary Lapse of Reason tour. He was the second drummer and also recorded it with them.
As long as they've been around, they're really not much older, age wise, than the guys in Rush. Think about it in that context, they're stamina and energy is amazing
High school dances in the 60's! Fun times!
I remember us kids bought the 45 sticking it in the record player that summer
That shot of the audience at 4:28.... The aged youth culture of the 60s and 70s.... My my, what time does.....
sounds fantastic!
