Finally Civ 6 Part 2
Agree with the take that it's *probably* Civ 7, and also that the IGN article doesn't prove anything. What's maybe a more solid indication is that there are 7 exclamation marks in the original tweet. Crossing my fingers it's Civ 7, but confident that whatever is, the next game is going to be great.
I hope they add an Economic victory condition
how you gonna win? buy the world?
You win when your central banking system is in every major civilization.
@@stinky9675 they can implement currencies. The same as religion, you should earn great people points to earn first great merchant. Then your currency will depend on your income and amenities (monopolies might be also implied). Your goal is to spread your currency among all other players. They might also implement new features related to debts and make something like world congress but related to economy only. Where you might vote for prices of amenities and ban trading or reducing income of other players etc. like economic forum some sort of. There are many possibilities to implement economic victory, nations like Mali would have benefited from it
@@alibierbulekov2368 Eh, a lot of people think Religious Victories are pretty uninspiring, basically being an alternative Domination Victory. Making an economic victory like a religious victory would not even be close to interesting.
Instead I'd like to see some trade domination or economic bloc system. Have everyone start off on their own, and then have civs dominate the trade over other nations. Maybe even add some parts of the Diplomatic Victory in, like the Send Aid prompt, which now gives you trade hegemony instead of diplo points. Kinda like what the US did with the Marshall Plan. It would give a system where factions are diplomatically independent, but are economically dependent on you. They get money, you get influence (and maybe resources or sth). You can even allow yourself to become part of an economic bloc to siphon funds of a big empire, then use the money to win in another category.
@@Kal-qn9rw They should switch religious victory with currency. The more civs that adopt your currency the likelihood of an economic victory
I hope they retain the districts and emphasis on land/space management that civ 6 has. Honestly my favorite part of the game and a big reason why I finally transitioned from Civ 5 to 6 once they got it figured out.
civ 6 was more polished when it first dropped than civ 5 was, so civ 7 will hopefully continue the trend, keeping the districts but also making some more big changes that we will be hopeing will be kept in civ 8.
I hope for more stuff from Civ 4, many things in that game were great except the combat. But new ideas would be cool too!
Another conspiracy video from our favourite himbo.
Everyone has a wishlist for civ 7. Personally, I think that the single biggest thing they could do from day one is design a game that is more open to modders and for the devs to keep an eye on mods for potentially valuable improvements to the game. Some of those UI mods for civ 6 should have been integrated into the game ages ago. They need to recognize that these modders are developing free content out of their passion for the game.
7 exclamation points 👀
Civ 6 now with fishing animations
Great, I love the first months of a new civ game when the AI is still being patched, I also enjoy it later but this is the fun time.
With all of its flaws, I still absolutely love Beyond Earth, especially the development of the factions, all of their stories, characters, quotes, etc. The biggest issue I have with the game is still that they didn't spend more time perfecting it.
A Beyond Earth game with some of the mechanics from Civ VI, like expanding cities into more than one tile, combined with the Beyond Earth Rising Tide stuff like moving cities on water, would be amazing.
Still, if there is only resources to work on one game, then I guess it would have to be a proper Civ VII.
I really just want the AI to be smart and not have to have advantages to be able to beat humans
Do you own a supercomputer?
Do you know examples they could draw inspiration from?
@@TheSjuris You can absolutely make the AI excellent without requiring supercomputers.
@@slicedtoad sure you can by quadrupling the code or by running it using servers or by doing it and then each then lasts 5 minutes.
@@slicedtoadname one 4x game where the ai is smart enough to not require advantages. It's easy to say that you can make the ai smart without extremely high processing power. But I have not seen it in any game so far.
My wish for Civ 7: smaller tiles, so a higher hexagonal resolution.
My reason: I have played Civ 5 and Civ 6, and have noticed that the perceived size of tiles differs a lot. In Civ 5, a single tile can contain entire cities; workers have to work for multiple turns to improve one tile. In Civ 6, every district needs its own tile and workers complete it in one turn; so tiles feel much smaller. However, this means that for balance reasons workers only can use their action a finite number of times.
I like the districts, but also think that the old workers are better. I think the most natural thing to do, then, is smaller tiles: I was thinking of tiles that are half as big (diameter). In area, this means that one tile is worth 1/4 tile in civ 6.
A city is now neither 1 tile nor sprawling as large as you want, but starts at 1 tile and gradually grows into 7 tiles (core + ring, or possibly even 19 with 2 rings?) if the population is enough. The city radius can grow up to 12 tiles, and distance between cities is at least 6 tiles. Each tile contains less resources, so you need to improve more tiles; but for the equivalent population, a city can work more tiles. Since wonders still take one tile, they take up less space.
In this case, the "new district at population goal" instead changes into "all non-core parts of the city can be given a specialisation".
Of course this changes a lot in the game, like completely rebalancing movement. But it also gives many possibilities; perhaps a river is no longer a boundary but a one tile wide thing, and travel along rivers gives a boost?
As for workers, workers now exists for infinitely long (like civ 5) and complete tiles instantly, but they also need multiple turns since each resource is multiple tiles wide.
However, this would mean that borders get much longer, so wars might get exponentially more effort. I am not sure if players want that.
Anyway this would be a very dramatic change, but if they are going to make civ 7 the same as civ 6 they might as well update the latter. So I hope they consider something like this.
I think both options should be just that - in-game options.
Like Napoleonic wargaming, where you choose to play at anything from skirmish to army level.
They both have their merits, and if this game is supposed to try add value I think that's what they'll go for.
I dont get the difference between shrinking the tile sizes and playing on a bigger map...
@@Joseph-ld8umamount of cities. With these proposed smaller tiles, you'd have roughly the same amount of cities as before. With a larger map you'd just have more cities.
It's obviously civ 7. Tweet has 7 exclamation marks at the and!!!!!!!
I remember during the initial stream for the leader pass showing off Julius Caesar that there's something special towards the end of the pass on/around the Ides of March. Definitely just something to do with the leader pass but it is my far reaching hope that we get more details on whatever this is then.
I would love Civ VII but im rooting for BE2. Im hopping for a multi-system/planet civ with Civ VI district mechanics + space ships. Not sure if the Web tech tree should be brought back though: needs reworking.

Civilizations: Middle Earth coming Fall 2024
To be honest I think you could be close - if we look at the evidence and history they like to put something between iterations, sci-fi has been done and that market is pretty flooded, they experimented with things like Vampires and legendary heroes in Civ 6 and they gave their youner devs a full run on the recent Leader passes. So I could totally see a Fantasy Civ using very similar mechanics to Civ 6 primarily developed by the younger devs coming out followed by a Civ 7 developed by the more experienced talent coming out a year or two after.
Civ 7 is hopefully coming but it's interesting which area of the game is going to be radically changed. Maybe it's time to revamp the production system by adding industry like in colonialism in which the yield of food will be increased but some citizens will work in "industry" districts to convert resources to goods which will be used to produce units and buildings like forest yields wood which is converted to lumber which is needed for archers. Maybe re-add trade in food but make the range limited. The food caravan will be able to be outside for only one turn but will have say 6 hex moves with roads/rails/airports extending it's range.
The current production system had become too loose.
I'm gonna be heartbroken to see Civ 6 get cycled out. Even if Civ 7 is better, Civ 6 will always be my true love.
I'm expecting its gonna be civ 7 but not actually called civ 7. civilization: insert subtitle here
If there’s a fantasy version of Civ that’s being made I’d be pretty interested, i dont remember if there was a fantasy version of Civ made by the Sid Meier’s team before
Endless Legend and Endless Space are the closest to that, but nothing from firaxis I believe!
@@GamerAlan123 I've seen those games and while they look fun, they def aren't Civ, so I'm kinda hoping for a fantasy expansion or game here
I think the Vampires and Heroes that came out in Civ 6 could be seen as a test to see if the fanbase would accept more outlandish elements - they did. Personally I think if they were going to do a game between Civ 6 and Civ 7 we can guess how they would do it from those things, the Beyond Earth launch and the new leader pass - get the younger devs who did the Leader pass to do a Fantasy version of Civ leaning into the look and feel of current Civ 6 but with Orcs, Elves, Dragons etc - dont mess with the core gameplay too much just tweak things in the way things like Panzer General morphed into Fantasy General. It would still be a quite different experience to Civ 6 but at the same time familair. Meanwhile the more experienced core Devs work on a significantly upgraded Civ 7 with new mechanics. After 6 years tech has moved on and I am sure there's a lot of things they could do to update the core game. I cant see them going back to a Beyond Earth/Alpha Centauri style game because that alien world style of 4x is a more crowded market and the previous attempt wasn't a huge hit.
age of wonders
Hopefully, if it is civ 7, they can finally figure out how to create a real globe to allow for flight over the poles for shorter distances in the later eras. It would also be nice to get fixes to trade that scale properly (trade routes in the latter eras should not take as long as trade routes in the early eras).
I hope it’s going to be new civ-like, something like fully based around warfare or something.
Like, the last 3 main civ games have been separated by releases of spin-offs so it would be weird if they just release the next mainline.
As someone who isn't familiar with Civ all that much, do you guys really need a Civ7? Like can the game be changed substantially at this point?
Mmmmm yes and no - the difference between Civ 5 and 6 is that Firaxis isn't releasing as much source code that allows the modding community to SUPER mod Civ 6 as compared to previous games. This unfortunately means the longevity of the game will probably not be as lengthy as it's predecessor
If it's Civ 7, the only thing i really want is for them to make it easier to mod even core mechanics and to have an engine that can handle way more than the current one.
That way we can avoid the problem of the asset limit crippling the modding community like it did with the NFP.
Creating a sandbox will mean way more longevity for the game than anything else.
Personally I can't wait until the Leader pass is done so I can go in and disable all the animated portraits, so I can have more assets freed up to either play with more mods or on bigger maps.
Fall From Heaven 2 was mentioned on your poll there, UH what an AMAZING conversion mod that was (for civ 4) Both and my Dad and I have been really wishing for a civ 6 version of it for years.
YEET
This announcement has me bricked up beyond belief going on 2 hours diamond cutter status may have to head to the doctors soon 🔥🙏👌😂
Omg civ Prehistoric sounds amazing as a era. You just have a bunch of cave men avoiding dinosaurs collecting other cave men to turn into a settlement. Take my money!!!!!
As I said still hoping for Sid Meier's Railroads 2
Here's my take:
Civ 3 came out 2001.
Civ 4 comes out 2005, 4 years later
Civ 5 comes out 2010, *5* years later
Civ 6 comes out 2016, *6* years later
Civ 7 comes out 2023?, *7* years later?
It's going to be Civ 7 or a Fantasy version of Civ then Civ 7. There's no real call for another space version of Civ and there are other similar games everywhere in that niche so the competion is very high - if they wanted something between Civ 6 and Civ 7 then the only really logical choice is a Fantasy style version of Civ with Elves, Orcs etc where they could lean into that cartoony leader graphic thing they have with Civ 6 before pivoting and evolving style with Civ 7. There would be a market for a full on Fantasy World version of a Civ style game with magic and outlandish looking units like Dragons and I could see them doing that because they could use much of the existing mechanics and graphic style and have those newer dev team people who worked on the Leader packs that have recently come out to expand on Civ 6 whilst more experienced devs concentrate on a proper Civ 7. I dont necessarily think there will eb a Fantasy Civ coming out I just think things like the Vampires, the mythological heroes etc in Civ 6 seemed like a test to see if people would accept that and they did - which means it's now a more likely option than a sci-fi one.
Why did they tweet like this? I think Marvel Midnight Suns under performed (bombed), and some powerful folks have panicked and fired a guy and want to reassure fans that Firaxis is still in business
god I hope it's better than VI ... for shits and giggles I decided to try VI again today.... after twenty minutes of only clicking next as game play, I can't do another version of that garbage. I hate hate hate CIV VI. I've tried to like it and it's just obnoxiously stupid and boring. It's the only version in 30 years that I loathe.
The beyond earth idea is just so good. I personally think that spore creature is an under rated game and that concept kind of died with the game and I would love to see it implemented elsewhere.
Also. Making a Sid Meier’s Pirates! Is a mistake. That game is so loved by the community that there are too many ways that the could mess it up.
Edit: removed language
It’s gonna be civ rev 3 😂
I'm really hoping for Beyond Earth 2. Loved that game even if it did have flaws.
Mannn, you kill the hype for me a bit.
Since the announce I think it's definitely CIV 7 and there's no way it would be other games.
I mean if it's not CIV 7 like...C'MON!!
I could see it being Fantasy Civ then Civ 7 after that. They do seem to like putting something between the iterations of Civ proper - Sci-Fi's been done and that market is a bit flooded. They experimented with Vampires and legendary heroes in Civ 6 and the fanbase didn't rebel. They gave the younger devs a run with the new Leader stuff which was good for them but also seemed to be testing if they could still make the current mechanics work for new things. So yeah a Fantasy Civ using the basic mechanics of Civ 6 could be an option. I wouldn't mind seeing Dragons flying around a Civ 6 style world and it would be a change of pace and a way to try to bring in the Fantasy fanbase into Civ.
From civ 5 to civ 6 theres a 6 years differance. Right now we are 6 years in on civ 6 so i would say civ 7 is next.
YEET
Don't the do remakes inbetween main releases? That's what I'm guessing.
Developing the most recent leaderpass for console 🤞
Sid Meier's Sigma Centauri incoming !!!
Lots of competition in the 4x space these days - they better step it up!

God, I hate those people lol
source you actually hate them?
@@Panguman touche sir
It's not gonna be playable for like 3 years anyways

i would love to see how they would evolve from civ 6
Civ revolution 2 confirmed lmao
Think about a civ Xcom crossover
Inb4 Tileless civ
Beyond Earth sucked.... Now it is a great time to have a lot of controversial future topics for Civ 7, like A.I. censorship, a better mode for social media, there are so many potentials for contemporary leaders... they should be bolder, make a game that challenges the idea of surviving on Earth. If they release a BE 2 I would not even touch it.
hentai waifu simulator
Nobody but me cares about the game's opening video, but CIV 1 had the most inspired opening sequence of any CIV game. They should update it for CIV VII.
I want Civ 7 to have more interactions with the environment and other Civs. Like the Industrial zones having waste that debuffs amenities, appeal, and food production but you have an option to build a landfill that accumulates waste to where you have to make a new one or dump it in a random territory, and a recycling plant that boosts production and can randomly generate Oil, aluminum, iron, or some other strategic resource.
ign lazy? no.
Given Civ 4 Colonization and then BE I wouldn't be surprised to see another spinoff - maybe something totally different. But I hope it's 7.
What about Colonization 2?
Civilization Revolution 3
Civilization revolution 2
The (intentional?) vagueness of the announcement gives me a lot of "final free update of the season" feels 🤣
I want to see CIV 5 - 2.
I do think if they do any substantial spin-off style content then it will be part of a sort of civ 7 "experience"/engine. A lot of games in this style seems to be moving in that direction and I could see them doing like a classical civ 7 along with other styles of game in the same engine all through one launcher/game and have a better plan for an extended development cycle than they may usually have. Also getting this sort of development non-intensive content through the leader pass indicates that maybe they wanted to delay things just a bit more than they would have otherwise so maybe a bit larger project is reasonable to expect.
I know that it's not possible, but I really do hope that they will change the business model

Civ Mobile incoming. Learning from blizzard. Pay real life money to get Sindbad and the other heroes.
If it wasn't Civ, I'd be afraid. But it's Civ. they won't do that. They're not blizzard.

Call to Power III
I would like the next Civ game to use the word "Delegation" in its subtitle, and allow me to delegate certain tasks to the AI. For example, I may want to delegate the city tile management to an AI algorithm. Or the military battling to another AI. Or negotiating treaties and trade with other civs to an AI. Each "strong AI personality" should have a name and should be unlocked. And users should have the ability to build and share their own AI characters. And the letters "A" and "I" in the word "Civilization" should be a different colour so that we know they are emphasizing the AI in this game. Also, the "voice acting" should be computer generated and the graphics engine should automate the animated mouth based on whatever text is being spoken.

Wooo!!!! Civ rev 3

I really want it to look much more like civ 5. Realism please. I never liked how the districts didn’t blend into the city. Everything just seemed so disjointed

its about time
In other news: Activision is producing another Call of Duty, Nintendo is making another Mario game, and square Enix is making 12 more FFXIV expansions.
Imagine if Fallout 5 got announced just from Todd Howard posting on Twitter saying "New Fallout coming soon". Very strange. With some of the big names leaving Firaxis, I think there's something odd going on behind the scenes.
There are 7 exclamation points, so got to think it's Civ 7. Just weird that they're announcing it now without say a release date or anything. Seems obvious that the game had been in development already...
I hope they do more with broadcasting / media control / movies / social media etc
