What is tretinoin cream:
Vitamin A cream. It acts on the core of the cell and modifies the formation of layers of the skin.
Aim of this video
If you have been prescribed tretinoin cream by a dermatologist, then this video will help you understand how it may benefit you. This video will also help you in understanding this molecule better.
Please do not self medicate with tretinon especially if you have dry sensitive skin. Please consult your dermatologist before starting this cream.
How does it act
They normalise the skin around the hair, make the skin cells or keratinocytes less sticky ( cohesive) so that follicle opening is not obstructed and there is no back head or whitehead formation. It softens the skin and decreases stickiness so it can be easily shed and does not accumulate. Since they cause shedding of the dead skin layer, they also improve penetration of other agents applied with it such as antibacterial or anti-inflammatory. It is usually combined with clindamycin, benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid.
Tretinoin also causes a reduction and even distribution of melanin, thus helping in mottled hyper-pigmentation and lentigines.
When to use?
Acne, photoaging, fine lines, dyspigmentation. Scars , stretch marks, open pores.
Less commonly : on warts, milia, even solar keratosis, keratosis pilaris.lichen planus, keoids and hypertrophic scars. Psoriasis, thinning of skin due to steroid
Pre- treatment to facilitate wound healind and reduce cahnces of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Pre procedure as it accelerates wound healing. So, a dermatologist may prescribe this to you for a few weeks before you go I for a procedure such as chemical peeling or dermabrasion.
How to use?
Start with a very small quantity like a pea sized amount should be enough to cover the whole face.
Use a cream formulation s it is less irritating
I suggest to start with short contact time. Wash off tretinoin after 30 mins then 45 mins, then one hour. Continue this for a week. If you are able to tolerate then you can leave it on over night. Little bit of scaling is expected, but if you develop redness and burning then you are applying too much of tretinoin. Stop immediately and consult your dermatologist.
Closed comedones are rapidly converted into open comedones and extruded, accounting for the flare of acne.
When will you see effects:
In acne: 2-3- weeks
In antiaging: regular use for atleast4 months.
Improvement in skin smoothness and tightening of skin is experienced in 2 to 4 weeks, decreased fine wrinkles and mottled hyperpigmentation is observed at 2 to 4 months, and coarse wrinkles require at least 6 months of therapy.
Open pores: 6-9 months . You may initially feel the pores ae looking worse, This happens due to exfoliation of skin.
Scars: 9-12 months
Stretch marks: 9-12 months
Side effects:
Acne may exacerbate when you start using this cream. But if you continue then new comedones will not form.
erythema, dry- ness, scaling, stinging, and burning
Neither erythema nor scaling is essential for response to be achieved.
Safety profile:
Not to be used if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy.
Precautions to take:
Always use a good moisturiser whenever you use tretinoin to avoid dryness.
If you are applying tretinoin in sun exposed areas, then apply a sunscreen diligently to avoid tanning.

Imo i wish every doctor had a blog and they wrote the details of everything they treat and medicines they prescribe down on their blog and gave us a link to their blog along with the prescription and meds especially when they don't have the time to explain it to every single patient repetitively i can understand it d be exhausting especially since patients come in hordes especially for doctors working in hospitals and at times even for independent doctors. (Ik it d be a long list so till they make their own blog they could also link us to the blog that they think is reliable as well along with keeping general suggestions on their own blog).
As a result they obv get paid through their blog so its not a waste of time and it reduces the misunderstandings between the patients and doctor as well.

I have just started using this cream as suggested by my dermatologist. I was asked to mix it with Cetaphil moisturizer in 1:1 ratio and apply it on my acne scars and pores. I however noticed that it is making the applied areas lighter than the other areas of my face. What shall I do about it? Should I start applying it on my entire face for even colour?

I have used tretenoin for about a year . My dermat never recommended for moisturizer before or after tretenoin cream but I have seen everywhere on internet to layer it up with moisturizer. So is it important to apply moisturizer after tretenoin?

@@tunguntalagayatri1167 I have started using tretenoin 0.025% later or after months of usage when I was sure that my skin wasn't drying anymore or peeling i switched to 0.05%. All i can say about my experience is tretenoin will make you ugly first then it will make your face clean .. when I started using it , after a week my face was filled with acne and pimples but i continued using it. Also I used to apply moisturizer then tretenoin and then again moisturizer this method really helped me ... So after 6-8 weeks pimples stopped occuring on my face and then my face began to clear up . You need to have patience with tretenoin. Also very small amount is sufficient for whole face.

from last 4 months and even I do sandwich method, to which my skin has responded well. It is more plump and few fine lines diminished. So I was thinking of upgrading to tretinoin.
@@tunguntalagayatri1167 if u r using retinol only for fine lines u can stick to retinol serum. You can consider to increase the percentage of retinol serum a bit (only if u r used to with the percentage u r using). Tretenoin is really strong variant of retinol and it can cause purging which can lead to acne on your face. Also either u use retinol or tretenoin it takes atleast 3-4 months to start working and a whole year is needed to get the maximum benefit out of it. So I think u should stick to the serum.

My dermatologist have recommended me to use tretin mixed together with vaseline in 1:1 ratio,thrice a week alternatively for my hyperpigmentation. Yes alfiya ji . initially mix it. Once you are able to tolerate then you can apply without mixing.

Hello ma'am,
I used a steroid cream named *Momate* for a very long time (one year or so) and it caused my skin to become very thin. It gave me hard time with flaky, itchy, red & irritated skin. However I left using it after told by a dermatologist. My skin since has recovered since then(been more than 2 years). Can I use tretinoin cream (Retino 0.025%)? Or Adaphelene gel? I don't have acne issue but I want to incorporate anti ageing as I'm in my late twenties & can see fine lines & dull skin. I have a sensitive skin type & I use mild skin care products like Cetaphil, Olay & aloe vera gel. Looking forward to reply from you.

here is my problem that ,
i applied retino AC gel in a slightly excess amount , i used this cream for 3 days regularly and now all i have is my skin got peeled off , and those areas where the acne's were existing got worsen.... what should i do now or is it okaay to stop using it and wait as it is a part of process ?
