I don't know how it works in England but I am an Auctioneer in the U.S. and here you can file a complaint with the Auction board and the burden will be on the auctioneer to prove his innocence and it is not a pleasant procedure for a professional auctioneer to have to go thru. Stand up for yourself and NEVER be bullied EVER.
Hi. thank you so much for taking time to comment. i wasnt worried about the items that went, to be honest i just wanted the thief caught and banned so they couldnt steel anything else. i only talk about it in my vlog becuase thats why my vlog is, i stand to make close on £1000 for a lot bought for £22 i am very happy with that and even told people to go to this weeks auction there and try and grab a bargain. i am honestly shocked i was banned
i’m so sorry this happened to you as I am watching this way after this occurred. I hope everything turned out well for you. It would be nice to hear of a update on if they apologize to you or anything like that. I highly doubt they would since they went on a bender office. Somethings so minuscule and truly not even what they projected it because she were in no way defaming them. Keep up the good work keep a smile your lovely.
Hi Christina. Thank you very much for your comment I appreciate your support. There is nothing to update. The legal threat seems to be empty to this date. I haven’t even had a solicitors letter. But still banned from the auction and flea market. Which is a shame to the other sellers as I am a very good buyer
I would attend the auction on the day of Sale. They will probably not accept your bids. It's a public auction but they have banned you so the police have to be called to escort you off their premises. That now means you have legalised your complaint. They may never resolve this matter... they have the cctv ... the police will take your statements and may ask the Auction for their side and provide the cctv. It may be easier not to let your videos be available till this matter is being dealt with within the law. Another way is to accept return of your lost items...No questions asked... its then up to the Auction to take any action they may on whoever may return the lost items. They have to legally evict you if you refuse to leave.
Just found your channel, been dealing for over 40 years you have done nothing wrong been tucked up many times at auction. Off wall bidders and the like the pen auction you mention is notorious for missing bits. Will now watch more of your vids just subscribed all the best.
Hi , thank you for your comment, i appreciate it. i will agree with the item was in the wrong auction. my £150 i was willing to pay wouldnt have come close in the antiques auction on the sunday. it was a crazy win overall, thats why i still paid for the lot and took it.
I thought exactly the same thing, it's the putting stuff in the wrong auction and having that mistake publicised that's embarrassed them. As Walter says, every auction has occasional problems with uncscupulous dealers who indulge in this kind of sharp practice if we're framing it politely or downright thieving if we're being more direct about it but as long as an auction has put adequate security measures in place to reduce the likelihood of this and polices appropriately then they've done what they can. It's annoying, I know, I've had it happen to me and I'm sure most auction buyers have too but as long as you're left with a reasonable profit or that your target item hasn't disappeared from the lot then all you can do is report it to the auction house and move on. I think the auction house would have understood having the issue mentioned, sensitively, in the vlog along the lines of "I was lucky and got a really good lot with the following lovely pieces ... it's a pity someone stole from the lot before collection but this has been reported to the auction house who are investigating it and I'll update you with the outcome" but to pubicly suggest that they may not have investigated the incident, adequately or at all (even if this were true) would have (inadvertently, I'm sure on Walter's part) heaped embarrassment on top of embarrassment. Unfortunately if you've got a good supply source sometimes discretion rather than public embarrassment is the better approach.
@@rustreloaded hi mate. Thank you for your comment I appreciate it. I didn’t imply or certainly had no intention to imply they hadn’t looked. All I said was I hadn’t heard anything back so I didn’t know if they had or not. I even promoted the auction told people to go try and get a bargain like I had. There was clearly no ill will to the auction I even said I stand to make hundreds of 22 pounds. Tbh it’s been blown out of proportion by the auction and I been bullied all my life. I have a little channel where most of my followers I talk to regularly and shared the story so they could beware if they were at auction. Cos this is not an isolated case for any auction house in the country
Sounds like the seller has taken the items back because they were so disappointed with the money they achieved. The auction house is embarrassed because they put the items in the wrong auction and unwilling to take any action against the seller. Just a guess FWIW
Hi Yellowiedbutter, thank you for your comment, the items wernt given back to the seller, i have the items, my vlog was simply a vlog where i chatted about how great teh lot was and that some dirty dealer had stolen out of it.
I've worked in an auction house with 3 auctioneers going at once. Theft was a big problem in spite of cameras everywhere. As soon as you successfully bid, take it to your car. Never leave anything unattended.
I think a lot of people already mentioned this but here is my immediate response to your issue. The problem probably wasn’t so much that you mentioned that items were stolen. It was probably more publicizing that the auction house only got 20 something for 1,000 or more worth of merchandise. That means they weren’t doing their best to get the consignor the price they deserved. I’ve found this happens a lot. An auction house gets in a lot of merchandise and although they should research every item and describe each lot in detail they just don’t. I’ve bought lots I made over 1,000 on for 50 or under in the past too. The reason you and I were able to do this is because the auction house didn’t put the time in to figure out what each item was and put the pertinent information in the written catalog description. If they had listed what all the valuable items were in the description with manufacturer names your lot wouldn’t have went for 20. Someone would have paid much more. They looked and saw what looked like a bunch of dirty and mediocre items and threw them in a big job lot. Clearly what they should have done to get the best price for their consignor was break the lot down into multiple lots with more detailed descriptions. Also clean the items. This would have brought their consignor a much better return. As dealers this is often where we make the most money. Either when the auction house makes a mistake or when they are just lazy and don’t do the research on the items that don’t immediately scream “valuable” but actually are. When an auction house handles a lot of merchandise it’s bound to happen. However when it’s publicized that’s not good for the auction house. It’s well within your right to talk about it but it’s also well within their right to ban you for it. We all love to talk about it when we get a killer deal like that but when you get a killer deal at auction it’s at the consignors expense and it’s often the auctioneers fault. Sometimes it’s just lack of bidders or bidders have low funds but a properly described lot will never cross the block at 20 when the value is 1000. 99.9% of the time there is an error or laziness to blame. We count on it as dealers but if we want to keep getting those deals we are much better off being discreet about it when it happens IMO. Still your right to make a video about it, but you lost a source because of it basically. Hopefully down the line you can repair your relationship with them. That’s my thoughts. It can sometimes be easy to miss a greater point in the heat and tension or a conflict. I know it’s happened to me many times. Their whole job is get the most for their consignors and in many estate auctions there is evidence of the auctioneer not doing this. It’s real bad if this gets out for them. What’s bad for the goose is bad for the gander. I’ve also had items taken from lots. The most egregious time I had forgotten to take two lots with me day of auction. I went back the next day to find that items had been plucked from my boxes. I brought it to the attention of the staff. The auction was run by mostly family. They were down right rude when I brought it up. They refused to discount the lots or give me a refund. The items missing were the reason I bid on one of the lots at all. I had spent thousands and assumed they would just refund me for the very low priced lots that had items missing. I implored them to check the cameras and they didn’t do anything. I later realized that employees probably thought the lots had been abandoned and picked what they wanted from them. To acknowledge something had happened would have been to admit what they had done. I have no proof of this but in my own mind it explained the kind of belligerent behavior. I’ll never actually know and it taught me to be more careful.
Thank you very much for this in-depth comment. I agree with you. The problem is I highlighted a mistake they made Two of the items from that lot have since ended up in a museum I have lost a source of stick for me which is annoying. But that source is gone Tbh I have talked about them and other plenty of times which they have all been happy with before when I telling dealers to go buy there. One thing I will say is. Dealers or people with money are few and far. But there are a thousand auctions a month in the uk. They have lost more than me. I was doing what my channel does which is talk about my items. What I pay and where to buy them. That’s the soul of my channel what it is. They have the right to work or not work with anyone they want I agree. But I wasn’t in the wrong for my film Tbh I didn’t think my film would be a problem. I even promoted them in the film so it has to be the incompetence that they are worried about.
This is terrible, Walter. I think it's sour grapes on the part of the auction. They knew they messed up by undervaluing the lot, for not having sufficient security measures in place and for not having the courtesy to get back to you. They are bullying you with threats of legal action, and it's not nice. You were your usual kind and gentlemanly self in both your videos. The blame rests entirely with them.
I think you’re spot on Lesley. Perhaps the owner of the lot saw the video and complained to the auction house that they’d put the lot in the wrong sale and undervalued it, alerting them to Walter’s vlogs. They may then have decided to ban him to stop it happening again as they wouldn’t want to get a name for themselves as selling too cheaply else they’ll lose lots of custom. Dealt with Walter very poorly though and it’s really backfired on them I think, getting even more adverse publicity. Don’t worry too much Walter, I’m sure they won’t bring a legal case against you but it must be very upsetting to be accused of something like this and also to be excluded from a good source of stock. I hope that it will be sorted out somehow. Maybe another phonecall to Dave, laying all cards on the table. What is his real concern (given that you didn’t accuse them of anything) - is it that you’re a risk to them for potentially alerting people to their errors in future videos? Maybe if you agreed not to mention them in future vlogs they could agree to allow you access again? Maybe even agree to delete this video completely? Good luck with sorting it out.
@lizwimbledon Yes, the video highlights their mistakes and their poor handling of the situation. However, by acting in this way, they have damaged their reputation even further.
I've been dealing for years, same as yourself and go to a couple of auction houses. If I see a table lot like that I go to the auction, pay there and then and bolt home before anybody can pilfer. I've had whole lots disappear before, cctv is not very good in terms of detail. Good luck and all the best.. Happy hunting..
Hi joe. Thank you for your comment I agree get the lot out of the auction asap. In this case I viewed it just before the start of the auction but couldn’t stick around to bid to bid online and collected two days later.
Hi Adam. Thank you for your comment. I agree totally mate. In this particular auction it’s not that easy because they have divided areas on tables not boxes
One thing you must do is photograph lots you are bidding on. That way you can show what was in the lot when you viewed. Then if something is missing you have proof of the contents of the lot. Any auction with good customer service would have taken better action.
Hi joan, if i was worried about the missing items i would have kicked off, tbh the lot was so valuable i was still happy, i only talked about it in my vlog because thats what i do, it wasnt to slag anyone off or accuse any staff etc
Good luck with all you do. Had similar experiences over 30 years ago! Items removed from boxes and at the same time box lots could be a lucky find. Still remember a lot number 1 that no one wanted over 30 years ago got it for less than 10 quid all textiles that I had to cram into the Fiat! Still have some of the best pieces that I kept - it was the lot that kept on giving!
I think the guy at the auction house has taken this personally against you, and letting his pride get in the way, he needs to look at the cctv and ban the thief. You never said anything negative against the auction house, you explained how you felt. Hope this gets sorted soon
You’re so reasonable in your approach. Very disappointing reaction from the CCA - imagine it was any other business who had mistreated its customer, a mobile phone company or the like, many take to social media to name and shame and call out poor customer service. In the modern digital age you have to respond professionally and constructively to any public complaint made. That includes taking the appropriate action to resolve the issue and introduce measures to prevent the same happening again in future. It sounds like they know nothing of running a business with any form of competent customer service arm. They are in the wrong.
Hi thank you so much for your comment. I was shocked I got banned tbh. I didn’t even blame the auction house. I even accepted that all auctions struggle with theft and even promoted them telling people to visit.
Hi thank you for your comment, i appreciate it, tbh i have heard and seen many things going on in auctions including as you mention above moving items to another lot.
Disappointed to hear about this. I use the auction myself and have always had a pleasant experience. I watched you first videos and happily bid on lots afterwards, not for a second did I think poorly of the auction house itself. You were clear that you didn't think they were to blame and talked highly of their service. Certainly feels like they've misjudged this one, hope they get in contact with you and come to a reasonable agreement.
Hi Taliesin thank you very much for your comment. honestly i was so shocked with the ban as i didnt blame the auction house at all, just hoped they banned the person responsible.
i've had people steal stuff from my bought items - one was a turntable and they stole a £100 stylus from it. Now i load into the car as soon as i can . I have also had people try to put my won lots into their cars and had to intervene.
Hi mate, anyone who has been using auctions knows this stuff goes one, thats why i wasnt slagging off the auction house, i was pissed at the dirty dealer, all i said was i didnt know if they checked the camera because they hadnt got back to me. so how could i know, i even promoted them at the end ffs its just crazy
@@AntiquesArena The fact that they didn't get back to you speaks volumes !!!!!!! The public are not mugs and will come to their own conclusions about the level of professionalism we are dealing with here
Having been an auction participant for decades, believe me when I tell you, I understand your frustration. In this instance, it appears that both parties have reached an impasse over what might have been resolved quickly, had further correspondence occurred each way in a timely manner. You spoke out as their disaffected patron, after feeling injured and disregarded. Presumably, they feel shamed by that action and are moving to retaliate. I feel that as you are both business entities, with vested and even mutual interests in same, a personal meeting over a cup of tea, may be beneficial, allowing for all grievances to be aired, considered and put to rest before any further escalation takes place. Humility, respect and compromise on both parts will hopefully result in an amicable resolution. Best of luck to you and happy auctioning.
Hi Connie. Thank you very much for taking time to comment, it was very interesting they way you put it, i agree things could have been different with better communication, only thing that wouldnt have changed is i would have still talked about it because thats what i do on the channel. but if i had answers etc then i would have put across more about how they tried to catch them
I would hazard a guess that this might involve someone who works there, or someone who works there casting a blind eye. Its so frustrating as the boxes are open and all it takes is one sticky fingered person.
Watching the two videos made me want to check the auction house out. Not only did someone steal off you - never claiming you thought it was the auction house - you still recommended people go.. 🤔
You speak so nicely about the auktion house they are going to loose any legal action. I’m so sorry you are going through this I hope they change their minds.
watching you for years and trust you are being honest and someone at the auction has a bee in their bonnet about incorrect gossip. did the person issueing a ban actually watch your video themselves.
Hi Paul. Thank you very much mate, tbh i dont know if he watched the film. i think if he had then he wouldnt have banned me. i could be wrong but think this is 3rd info cost me a ban
The auction house has absolutely no recourse at all. You did nothing wrong or anything that would harm the company at all. If they want to waste their time in court and make a fool of themselves, let them. You are a great person and a very professional and ethical business owner. Best of luck to you.
Shame of them, they are trying to bully you! - funny it took just a few days for them to see your video and make a assesment, get legal advice and issue a ban to you, yet it was weeks before they checked the CCTV of stolen property.
Hi, thank you for your comment, i agree it was a bullying attempt to silence me, from looking at all the comments, people seem to think its more the fact i have highlited the miss placed lot and bought is so cheap.
Hi thank you for your comment I appreciate it. Tbh I am done with them now I wouldn’t go back to them if asked. If they try to take a legal route with me I will document the entire thing
Its unlikely the police would get involved in a civil matter. There could have been a theft but the cctv is run by the auction and they could 'lose' the footage. Threatening legal action is not a crime.
I think the only thing they could protest to is that you mentioned the specific auction house and said pieces you won were stolen. So if someone goes to this auction house, their stuff may get stolen. Considering how much you spend, how you came to auction guy immediately and didn’t even ask for your money back though, they would have realized you were a standup guy. They could have easily come to you with the actual items they feel is slander and I’m sure you would have stayed on good terms and come to an agreement. They definitely jumped the gun.
Thank you very much for your comment, i appreciate it, as you say, for the price i paid who would ask for their money back, i was trying to help them remove and catch a thief by complaining, i didnt expect anything other than a curtisy repy to say we have looked and sorry didnt find anyone or we found them and banned them. but talking about it is what i do on my vlog channel there was no slagging off or malace there
Best just to accept the deal you got. People will do these things but best to forget it and get on with your life even though it leaves a bitter taste.
hi john, thank you for your comment mate, appreciate it. i had already accepted the loss and moved on mate, i only mentioned it in my vlog cos thats what i do, i am a vloger and talk about my finds, my experiences.
So sorry this has happened. I think perhaps you shouldn’t have automatically assumed and said the items were stolen without any actual proof (as sometimes things can legitimately get moved into the wrong boxes).
Hi Rachel. thank you for your commet. in this auction they dont use boxes, they use divided tables sectioned off, although items can be misplaced i viewed very close to the start of the sale and with the way it is set up it is very unlikley to have been mistakenly moved, and as for saying stolen, if you get up in the morning and your car is gone, what would you say to the police, my car has been stolen ?
What a load of twaddle! Their loss, take your business elsewhere. They haven't got a leg to stand on as you know. Find another auction house that will appreciate your business. Informative video as always :0)
@@goonaa6924 to be honest. I haven’t even missed the auction. There is no shortage of people selling amazing things so I will just leave sleeping dogs lie. It’s a big loss to their business the money I used to spend there.
7th year law student here. (Disclaimer: anything I say can’t be relied on as legal advice; to rely on legal advice please speak to a qualified solicitor.) You have nothing to worry about; their claim is wholly baseless. As you point out there are several steps that need to be satisfied to prove slander and defamation; non of which they could do. You’ve only spoken the truth, and where the truth cannot be ascertained you spoke what you genuinely believe to be the truth-furthermore your belief is backed up by secondary evidence and logic (I.e. they haven’t gotten back to you so of course you don’t know if they’ve checked cctv). Even if they could prove slander or defamation, it would be impossible to prove that they suffered injury (financial loss) due to it. I would even point out that you made considerable effort to separate those who stole and the auction house which would go against their claims. Furthermore you were even promoting their business. It’s a pretty clear cut case to be honest; they would lose. Now…I would go so far to say that, in fact, you may have a case against them. They accused you of stealing with no evidence, and if they don’t honestly believe that you stole items from a lot you wanted to buy; a case of defamation of character could be made (unless you’re a well known thief). Additionally, due to you being arbitrarily (and unfairly)banned (their baseless claim) you could argue they have injured you through a loss of future income; you could even (and this would have to be looked into by a specialist) claim that the auction company was being deliberately used by the person as a weapon against you as part of a personal vendetta; which in itself could be a separate case and trigger an investigation. Anyways, to summarise; you have nothing to worry about - their claims are baseless; and in actuality they could be liable for defamation, loss of your future income, malfeasance/misuse of a company, and unfair treatment…and potentially even the traders at the market could argue that they’ve been injured by the auctions conduct as you won’t be spending your (substantial) money in the market and they’ll lose out. (Again, the above can’t be relied on; but it could help guide some research and talking points with a lawyer if you seek legal guidance). All the best. Ben.
Hello Ben, firstly may i say wow thank you so much for taking the time do write this comment. being a law student time must be so precious for you, so believe me when i say i am grateful i mean it. basically you have backed up what i was thinking also so i do feel loads better now.
Just wanted to say thanks to you for bringing your legal expertise to the fore. Too many organisations get away with injustices because we the public aren't even aware of what our rights are, and as a result get silenced and bullied into non-action. I for one say "No! "
Hello Walter I hope this gets sorted out very soon there is certainly no malice on your part but I can definitely smell a rat they have had adequate time to browse the CCTV footage and I get the sneaky suspicion that they may well know who has stolen the items from your lot. The threat of court proceedings is just scare mongering as they know that courts would want to see evidence of a theft taking place. Out of principle I would not use that particular auction house ever again even if they lifted the ban. Good luck Walter and hope this matter gets resolved very soon.
Hi Damon. thank you very much for your comment. Tbh i am done with the auction house now, i wouldnt go back no matter what, i dont care if it gets resloved or not, if they take me to court i will vlog the hell out of it and fight it
Definitely not wrong, so very sorry, that’s the pits!! Hopefully this matter can be worked out, they will be losing out on a good customer and good free advertising if this goes through. You were beyond polite and considerate, they were not, they acted like teenagers-quick to act, full of emotion, and without the skills yet to interact appropriately.
Congratulations on the offer and finding your new home 🏡. I've followed you for quite a well. Loved seeing you and your daily routine, walking jenny, sharing the items you bought. You have a good eye for detail. I enjoy seeing how you display items. Keep up with the positivity and give yourself the recognition you deserve. Greetings from Liverpool 😊.
Hi Walter The auction house have given themselves a bad name. You were not rude and had a legitimate “complaint “. I’d hate to think what they’d be like if you were rude ….
Hi Thank you very much, i appreciate your comment, i try not to be rude, you never know what struggles people are coping with each day, but as i said i wasnt angry with the auction house even promoted them.
Hi mate, thank you very much for your comment, i would think its more he has acted from someone else saying i been slagging them off rather than watching the films for themselves.
I think if you wouldn't have mentioned the auction house's name, they wouldn't have come after you. I think they are just blowing smoke, and aren't going to take any legal action. I doubt they are going to blow money on Lawyers for something like this.
hi mate, thank you for your comment, you are most probs correct, empty threat but if they do proceed i will fight them. i am not the one in the wrong from my opinons
I'm no lawyer but having 'no dog in the fight' as it were I thought I'd give my view. My understanding is that you believe that people other than 'Dave' / the Manager / Owner or the auction house themselves stole the items. However what you actually state in the first clip is: "Anyway I went to collect on the Monday and as usual, dealers being dealers, they'd stolen two of the Swedish glass paperweights." "...but they'd stolen about 200 - 250 pound's worth of Swedish glass paperweights...". You also infer that the CCTV may not have been checked despite being assured by the person you spoke to that it was. Without going too deep into this, long story short, I think there's been a misunderstanding. How or whether that misunderstanding can be resolved though is a difficult question to answer.
hi thank you for your comment and giving your honest opinion. i would like to address a couple of the points you mention, i did make it clear in the films that i believed it was dealers and not the auction house who stole the items, and in my film i said, i was told they would look at the cctv and get back to me, but weeks and weeks later i still hadnt heard so i dont know if they even bothered to check becuase the customer service hadnt got back to me with an update. the misunderstanding wont be resolved now, i wouldnt go back to the auction if they appologised to me which isnt going to happy. i didnt imply they hadnt looked, i said i didnt know because no one had contacted me
Hi! I live in Sweden and my occupation is similar to yours... It´s the same thing here, ppl steal from misc lots/boxes all the time. I hate it and Always point it out andI call it out loud and clear when I see it happen. The ones doing that kind of things are ruin it for all of us, both for people who buy stuff for their own enjoyment, for us dealers who try to make a living and for the auction house what tries to sell the items/lots. I can´t se you doing anything wrong, quite the opposit. When I have called things like that out the owners and managers of the auction houses I visit have thanked me, they don´t want thiefs or people making frauds in their auctions. I can´t se what could upset the auction house with your videos either. You are a costumer who rightfully is a little bit upset and disapointed but you actually point out its not their fault and you even tell people to visit their auctions. No! don´t take down the videos, there is nothing wrong in them and they have no right to force you to take them down. Btw, Your rant here is both polite and sober minded, no one could be offended by this whole thing. Their loss, you keep up the work and walk on.
Hi Anna. thank you very much for your comment, i very much appreciate it, and with the rant i still had to be calm and professional as there is a legal proceeding looming
Whether consciously or not they're probably actually more that they didn't know how much the lot was worth and it's the jealousy that really stings them.
You even put in a nice plug for them in those videos, if they ever even actually ask a lawyer (they won't) they would find out they have no chance whatsoever to win defamation or slander. They're just stung little children and they will unban you I have no doubt.
Hi thank you for your comment. Tbh if they had watched the film they would see I wasn’t blaming the auction and even promoting it at the end. The action of banning me was a real shock
@@Vintagerous that won’t happen now unfortunately. I was genuinely happy with my lot and the auction house. And I am severely offended for the ban. I wouldn’t go back now either way. I have promoted and mentioned them in dozens of films to help them
Thank you william. i do accept your comment, but its a hard choice for them to make, back me up over something very petty and risk they way of earning a living. i wont judge them for that, we are all struggling in this day and age.
Dave you made a valid complaint on the day there in the wrong by not taking to you they have accused you wrongly there the ones who are being dishonest by accusing you dave there costumer service is rubbish dave you do right to keep the videos up dave
You actually promote the auction house despite its obvious negligence in safeguarding what was your purchased property. If anyone should take legal action it is you, as you are the victim of a theft. If they don't apologise, offer compensation and reinstate you, report the theft to the police.
Hi Jprolls. thank you for your comment i appreciate it. tbh all i asked for off the auction house was to have a go to try and catch them to ban them. its not good for us as buyers or the auction to have a thief in their sale room.
Sounds like they are trying to flip the situation on to you to save their reputation. They are narked after been named and know your items have vanished.....
Hi Drew. thank you for your comment, i appreciate it mate, tbh i feel if they had actually watched my films they would have seen there was no malace towards the auction house. i was gutted yes but it happens, i only talk about it in the films because thats what i do. its been blown out of proportion now and banning me was shocking.
Most Websites, whether restaurants, hotels, or businesses, have a Feedback or Reviews Section on their sites. Most places Want Reviews. They really shouldn't have a beef with you.
hi mate, thanks, they have never complainted when i told people i done great with the items i bought, they have only moaned now i have mentioned this missing items.
Walter I think I was at Govilon when you had your glass bowl go missing, I certainly remember you posting it in your video at the time. The auction house are just trying to frighten you into taking down your vlog about the stolen items, I doubt they would go through with it. Are there catalogs with pictures of the missing items in?
Hi steve, thank you for your comment mate, appreciate it, no it was a huge misc lot with maybe a hundred items in it, was best misc lost i have ever seen tbh, and if they want to proceed i will keep vlogging about it and fight them all way
Basically THEY really messed up. The seller who entrusted them to get the best price possible for their items was screwed by their incompetence. Not ensuring the safety of buyers, bought items awaiting collection. Not making it a priority to find the thief, and who's to say it was a dealer. Both of the clips you showed did not have any defamation/slanderous comments, as what you said was presumably true. You have the legal right to comment on your experience. You actually promoted the auction house on the second clip. Let them throw their money away on employing a solicitor.
Hi Alisson. I am feeling along the same lines as you, i think its more they just dont want things public rather than a slander. but you cant silence people for that reason.
Def no slander stand your ground with them, They have the responsibility to protect your lot until after you accept it. Howver, this to me seems like you are being punished for having the audacity to complain
I think its a bigger pr problem for them now. I saw nothing in your vids that was anything like deformation. My experience says they’ll either double down or just apologise and reinstate your account. They need people like you to do business not the other way round. Hopefully they’re not to proud to just apologise and move on.
Think Auctions are a bit haphazard, my local does not even have cctv so easy picking for anyone who comes to pick up their lots. Also, lots aren’t even checked off because people turn up at all different times and they don t keep track of what is going out the door, they just trust people to only take their stuff.
Hi Caroline, thank you for your comment, tbh i wasnt even worried about the incident, i was only talking about it cos thats what i do in my vlogs, i was still very happy with the lot and promoted the auction house, i know this is a problem accross the country so didnt blame them just hoped they could catch the person using the cameras.
Put it out of your head, all they will do if they go to court is waste their own money. The threshold for defamation is extremely high-hardly ever goes to court.
the auctioneers are liable since, the items when missing in their care;;;;take them to court;;;;2023;;;;;;;also, just get some one else to bit for you ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;ha!;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
hi, thank you for your comment, tbh i have several dealers have already offered to buy anything i want from there for me. but i would rather not give them my buisness anymore, there is no shortage of things to buy.
Hi thank you very much for your comment, i do regular vlogs, i am waiting for the solicitors letter to arrive, when it does i will film that and my reply and i will vlog the entire thing. i certainly wont hide it and keep it quite like its a dirty little secret
@@AntiquesArena a dirty little secret lol. 🤞and 🍀 for you! PS those wedding pictures were amazing! A castle background? And your wife looked just beautiful- just a really lovely couple. I wish you many years of happiness. ☺️
Stolen is a strong word. You may have been more accurate to state "misplaced". If they screwed up and put the pieces in another lot by accident, you have accused them of theft, which is not accurate and is damaging to the company.
Hi. Thank you for your comment. I appreciate your opinion and comment. I would like to say I blamed another dealer not the auction house. This auction is set up with lots on tables so they can’t get mixed up. They are not just in boxes on floor. And one piece may get misplaced but not two and not two of the identical items. Also the definition of stollen is taken with out permission. If you woke up in the morning to find your car not there would you say misplaced
It is suspicious that they have are banning you . If they have an employee or the auction house associates have done something. And they manage the ct video themselves they can edit. Shame on them. Or maybe they were not timely about checking the videos. Sorry this is their treatment of you. Poorly handled.
Wow, I wouldn’t want to shop there anymore anyway if they don’t care to take care of the products people have purchased. You did not say anything wrong in your videos. What legal actions are they taking? They have no grounds. And lastly is there any photos or description of the lot you bid on? From now on I would Photograph the lot your going to bid on. Ask to see the video footage as well is a great idea. Good luck, sure stinks they act that way. I personally would call them out on their bluff.
Hi Tink Tink. thank you so much for your comment. tbh this sort of thing happens all over the country, it is one of the biggest problems in auctions. i only talk about it because thats what i do on my channel, but i wont go back now for the way i have been treated.
@@AntiquesArena I don’t blame you at all. You have done nothing wrong. I Love what you do and appreciate that you share with all of us, thank You. My support always 🦋
Can't hear any trace of defamation at all, quite the reverse. Can't see a case against you.Their stance will lose your trade & possibly that of others. You have a right to share without fear.
Bit belated, but I wonder how often this happens there? It's in their interests to investigate, not to fob you off with threats and subterfuge. Because they are obviously trying to shut down any conversation about their security or business processes. Ive often been at auctions where the security is poor, they definitely make sure to take your money but come actual collection they dont have a enough staff to check the loading cars or who actually bid on the items, i can see the ease at which this can happen. I believe there is an accredited auctioneers list, might be able to report this incident to them. Would you ever be interested in running an auction house? I bet there other people been affected in this way.
Hi! You couldn't have been more clear that you were reporting your own experience - as YOU lived it - and that you suspected another dealer of actually lifting the items. In the process of describing that incident, however, it sounds like the auction house's/manager's incompetence was also exposed... and that he felt embarrassed and angry that he'd been caught, instead of him catching the thieves. A professional secure in their abilities and good at their job would have instead apologized profusely, offered to check the CCTV tape right away, stated that they want to avoid such an opportunity for theft in the future, assured you that the company will work harder to guarantee that anyone's lot will stay intact until they retrieve it - and then, he should have THANKED you for alerting him to this situation - and THEN, he should have offered to make amends in order to rectify the situation and make good on their standards of doing business. (Outstanding Customer Service is one of the first things that any business needs to get right and keep right, imo.) Here in the States, the threshold is quite high for proving harmful/malicious slander, and most opinions and satire are protected by very expansive laws and precedent rulings on free speech - yet I know the technicalities are somewhat different there, so a single consult with a solicitor might not be a bad idea. Mostly, though, this smells like old-fashioned bullying from a very insecure person. Private firms may be at liberty to ban whom they please from their establishment, but I would be tempted to go over the head of this manager to contact the owner (who has a higher stake in making the business a safe place for customers... while the manager merely has a high stake in covering his own posterior : )
Hi lu lu. Thank you very much for your comment. I am not sure of the threshold for proving slander in this country tbh but it’s similar I believe to that in the USA. The manager is the owner or part owner so they ban will stand. But after being treated like this I honestly wouldn’t go back there now anyway Thank you for your comment I appreciate it
I don’t think you said anything out of order. You actually promoted them at the end, so I don’t think suggesting your items were stolen by someone was in any way unrealistic an assumption, nor was it accusatory.
Hi gaynor. Thank you for your comment. First I honestly didn’t even realise there was an issue. I mentioned the auction as I have in hundred of films. That’s what I do on my channel I buy things. Talk about them. Where I found them etc. it’s a blog channel. I didn’t slag the auction house off. They have banned me just for mentioning that items had gone missing. Let’s be honest why should I have to hide that like a dirty secret. All auction houses struggle with this. It wasn’t going to hurt them it’s just me and my little channel talking to my followers and dealers who are on my channel to learn.
@@AntiquesArena Hi, You have over 14k followers watching your channel that’s a very large audience to be sharing with ? If this was your company would you like it put all over U-Tube of course not. You would hope the matter would be dealt with privately. I think that’s how you should have handled it from the start.
I wonder if they have cctv of it. Maybe not working or caught that box. They don't want more issues with this coming out. It's bad news for them and maybe as a gesture you could take your vids down as you seem reasonable and truthful with your actions and you just need to clear your head and time with this issue.
Hi Mike. Thank you very much for your comment, if i felt i had done the auction house a dis service i would take it down strait away, in my films i didnt have a bad word to say about them. i was unhappy about a dis honest dealer stealing, i even told people to go see if they could grab a bargain at the end of the film. i was shocked by this action.
Hi mate. Thank you for your comment. It won’t be the staff or they would have taken it before the auction. It’s a dealer I see this all the time. That’s why I was causal just chatting about it. I never blamed the auction house it’s just my clog and telling my story will maybe make someone else guard their lots better
The Auction house messed up they put the lot in the wrong place. And they do not like the fact you went public, and I don't think they have a leg to stand on. They need to grow up and move on.
Quite an odd step for an auction house to take. It could be the accusation of stealing, although you said other dealer, not the auction house. Could be other reasons though. Items may have been in the wrong tray of items and not updated on the listing, could have got put back in wrong container by mistake or on purpose on viewing day. Or even broken by and employee and not notified anyone. I think their threats are ridiculous and you're entitled to explain what happened, especially as you didn't accuse them of anything. They have absolutely no chance of winning any sort of claim, so I'd leave the vids up and it may push them to take action on their mistake etc. Or maybe you could come to an agreement you'll take the videos down once they explain what happened, it's their duty to do so. You could even fight back and if you have photos of the listing and of what was actually received and say they didn't fulfill their part of the contract of purchase.
Hi Stefan. thank you for your comment, i apprecaite it. i didnt view the lot until almost the start of the auction so its very unlikley it was placed in a different lot, in the auction they dont use boxes they have large areas of tables sectioned / diveded up for lots. it would in my opinon have been moved / taken after the auction, and if so there is no reason to touch a single item in a lot if you havnt won it.
Dreadful treatment from the auction house. No need for it. The person that stole the items have got exactly what they want …… you banned. They will feel free to raid other boxes now. You didn’t say anything wrong in my opinion. Good luck with this Walter.
The second video is good I think you could of said missing instead of stolen I think the auction house you are using owes you an apology for how they treated you it’s clear to me that you are innocent there guilty of been over reacting to your blog and there are lying themselves you are innocent until proven guilty dave
I’ve been buying here for about 6/7 years maybe longer never had a problem here 😁 sorry to hear Walter mate, they have always been great with me awesome auction house I’ve had many steals over the years 😁
Hi mate, i didnt have a problem with the auction house, as i said in my film, every auction struggles with dodgy dealers, i was even promoting them in the film. really was shocked to get banned.
Shame on them Walter, you didn’t do anything wrong but you obviously hit a nerve and they know they are in the wrong and are trying to deflect their guilty conscience. They know who did it but are embarrassed to say they messed up the category too probably. I think you need to diffuse the situation, talk to Dave, get a verbal apology, take down the videos and get back to business with them, assuming you want to of course. Your supply of stock I suspect is more valuable than UA-cam and the longer this goes on the more it will cost you in the long run, even losing sleep isn’t worth it IMHO Best regards
Hi barry. thank you for your comment, i appreciate it mate, tbh i would never go back to the auction now, i am the one who is offended, i was promoting them, telling people to go to the sale and i get banned and all this. Nope done with them.
Hi Walter Grief he's very thin skinned but I think its due to you suggesting the lot wasn't correctly valued. Surely he could have just called you and resolved this by discussing. If the auction attendance is important to you I'd try and resolve with the auctioneer.
@@AntiquesArena Hi Walter you're a good person and very knowledgeable I think you're right just to move on. You didn't do or say anything wrong. Personally I think the auction house staff are up to shenanigans.
Hang in the my Friend. My biggest concern is the collateral damage on your emotional and mental health if you go to war so to speak, also the incredible amount of wasted time and energy lost in the process, is it worth it?? I doubt if either side will be winners here, both will be losers and if you go to war then the outcome is uncertain for some time and hangs over you. Your choice my friend. If there is a chance of a reconciliation, go for that, take the video down or edit it to remove the offending part(s) and re-establish the trading relationship. If there is no chance of a reconciliation then its a choice of War or a Tactical Withdrawal and maybe the latter will be better for your overall wellbeing. Unfortunately I have had items go missing from won lots as well and it is impossible to prove what has happened, sometimes the Auction house can make a gesture of goodwill especially if the loss is clearly identified at the point of collection on other occasions I have taken the loss as I win on the round so to speak. All the best my Friend
Hi mate. As always thank you so much for your support. I totally see your point on wasted energy. I actually honestly wasn’t even having a go at the auction. I didn’t say a bad word about them. I moaned about the dealers stealing. The only thing that could be taken wrong was when I said I didn’t know if they checked the cameras because they didn’t get back to me but I didn’t know one way or another. I have no interest in dealing with them again now after this anyway. But I can’t take the films down or where do I draw a line. I am legally alloud to talk about my experiences on my channel. What’s next a book or product review have to be pulled cos they wernt happy with the truth or if I mention I bought something at a boot sale that was fake. I was sour with the dealers stealing off me but still very happy with the lot. I even still promoted the auction at the end of the film. I really don’t see that I did anything wrong. I didn’t accuse anyone who worked at the auction of wrong doing I really don’t think he watched my film. I think someone has just mentioned to him my film and he has jumped and banned me.
Maybe when you said "they" stole them they thought you were referring to the Auction company, even though you said another dealer took them. I don't think you said anything against the auction company and you even told people to check them out.
Hi Brenda. Thank you for your comment. Honestly I made sure it was clear it was another dealer and not staff and as you say I wasn’t even angry with the auction and was sending people to them.
Maybe I'm missing something but I only heard you mention 'Dave' and not the auction house, address etc. You could be talking about anyone. Therefore no charge to answer too. I'd also be wary that DAVE may have been the one who took the pieces. "we investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing" is not an answer to your query. You could legally report them for theft. And if they do threaten legal action again I would get ahead of them and no threats just do it. We both know there's some pile of conmen/thieves in this game, go on the front foot instead of reacting. Get on yelp and TripAdvisor etc and bury them for crimes against you etc.
Hi Frank , thank you for your comment, tbh i like the auction and auctionier or did before this, i have no interest in going to war with them or hurting them. my films are just my vlogs, i speak the truth in them, if i mess up i say it, if i find a gem due to someone else messing up i say it. i did mention the auction house but have a hundred times before they were happy then
Hi thank you for your comment. I have spoken to a solicitor and have nothing to worry about apparently however no solicitor letter has come to date so looks like threats and bullying.
Don't take your videos down Walter, you've posted perfectly legitimate content and done nothing to warrant the petty response from Cardiff City Auctions. Shame some tosser has sullied the good (rare!) auction house bargain for you but it sounds like there's still a pleasant profit in it for you. Best of luck to you
Hi Katie, thank you for commenting, i appreciate it. the only problem is if i take down these films just for mentioning it, whats next, a boot sale owner threatening me because i talk about a bad experiance at their boot sale, or i review a book or product and they dont like my opinion. For me i have been banned for nothing, i even told people to go have a go this weekend and try and grab a bargain, i wasnt slagging the auction off. i have had things stolen before, it happens and thats what my channel is about. i talk about my experiances.
@@AntiquesArena Go on as always, just refer to the boot sales or auctions, whatever, without mentioning their names. Safer that way, and just as enjoyable for us.
@@DoubleKarma Because if they ban him, then word gets around, and others ban him. Where is he going to buy? It's just good for business, as in making money.
It's not slander, you had something stolen so you can reasonably say that their security is terrible. Let them take you to court, as if they would pay £15k as only the high court will hear it.
A good auction house would have taken fault for your stolen items and compensated you with an apology, these people sound like charlatans who don't care enough about their customers.
The word "steal" is a powder keg. The lot could have been misplaced or damaged. Just doesn't make sense to make the accusation. You were too heavy handed...

Hi Christina. Thank you very much for your comment I appreciate your support. There is nothing to update. The legal threat seems to be empty to this date. I haven’t even had a solicitors letter. But still banned from the auction and flea market. Which is a shame to the other sellers as I am a very good buyer
@@AntiquesArena If it were me i'd ask my lawyer if one would be in breach if one were to bid by proxy.
You were absolutely in the right, they had a knee jerk reaction to their name being mentioned without actually listening to the words spoken . 😊
Hi Thank you very much. I appreciate your comment. Tbh I am thinking for their reaction that they been told I mentioned them rather than watching
Hi parry. Thank you very much. Appreciate your comment and subscription
This sucks big time Rather you could take the auction house to court Not the other way around, appalling customer service
Hi Debbie. Thank you very much for your comment I appreciate it and agree
Exactly !
The thing that hurts them is that they put things in the wrong auction, and a seller got hammered. Still true, and still them messing up.
Hi Thank you very much, i agree but in this case i wasnt at the auction and bid online
Hi Lesley. Thank you very much for your kind comment

Another trick is they just before the auction starts move items from one box to another then bid on said lot.
Probable cause same will happen to others until/unless such behaviour is confronted
Hi John. Thank you for your comment appreciate it. I have like you had some amazing buys from auctions which is why I was upset at the ban
I think the guy at the auction house has taken this personally against you, and letting his pride get in the way, he needs to look at the cctv and ban the thief. You never said anything negative against the auction house, you explained how you felt. Hope this gets sorted soon
Thank you very much appreciate it
You’re so reasonable in your approach.
To cover their tracks people often just "accidentally" move expensive objects to another inexpensive lot and then "legally" take them in those lots
I guess you go in person to your auction place/s yea TatPeddler ?
@@AntiquesArena The fact that they didn't get back to you speaks volumes !!!!!!! The public are not mugs and will come to their own conclusions about the level of professionalism we are dealing with here
Their action is ridiculous - you have done nothing wrong. You are being your honest self.
Hi Elaine. thank you very much,, really appreciate it
Having been an auction participant for decades, believe me when I tell you, I understand your frustration.
Hi thank you very much for your comment, i appreciate it
Watching the two videos made me want to check the auction house out.
Not only did someone steal off you - never claiming you thought it was the auction house - you still recommended people go.. 🤔
You speak so nicely about the auktion house they are going to loose any legal action. I’m so sorry you are going through this I hope they change their minds.
Hi Digital Duckling, thank you very much for your comment, appreciate it.
watching you for years and trust you are being honest and someone at the auction has a bee in their bonnet about incorrect gossip. did the person issueing a ban actually watch your video themselves.
Hi Paul. Thank you very much mate, tbh i dont know if he watched the film. i think if he had then he wouldnt have banned me. i could be wrong but think this is 3rd info cost me a ban
Wow. This is crazy! So sorry you are going through this.
hi Karen. as always thank you so much for the support and comment.
Lovely to meet you Saturday . Sad occasion, very good service from you and your team . Michelle
You have the right to your opinion . poor service
The auction house has absolutely no recourse at all. You did nothing wrong or anything that would harm the company at all. If they want to waste their time in court and make a fool of themselves, let them. You are a great person and a very professional and ethical business owner. Best of luck to you.
... and so say all of us ! 👏👏
I would tell him that the police are going to be the next phone call to check the cameras and investigate his threats to you regarding legal action.
@@kt5661 thank you for your comment. Tbh I would never go that far I will let it go now unless the auction push further

Hi John. thank you very much, i agree totally lol

Hi mate, thank you very much for your comment, i would think its more he has acted from someone else saying i been slagging them off rather than watching the films for themselves.

@@AntiquesArena 👏👏

Hi Sirmooses, thank you very much for giving your opinion and time. i appreciate it.

No slander at all …the auction hasn’t got a leg to stand on …makes you think who ??took the items..sour grapes from auction
thank you for your comment colin, appreciate it
Basically THEY really messed up.
Did you get the ban lifted Walter ?
No they never contacted me again so I didn’t go back

thank you very much for your comment tony, agree and didnt expect to get banned
100% correct !
I think its a bigger pr problem for them now. I saw nothing in your vids that was anything like deformation. My experience says they’ll either double down or just apologise and reinstate your account. They need people like you to do business not the other way round. Hopefully they’re not to proud to just apologise and move on.
Hi Antony, thank you very much for your comment, i appreciate it, will just have to wait and see what they do
100% correct ...if they were anything worth their salt they would/should (1) issue Walter an apology (2) reinstate him. Period !
Think Auctions are a bit haphazard, my local does not even have cctv so easy picking for anyone who comes to pick up their lots. Also, lots aren’t even checked off because people turn up at all different times and they don t keep track of what is going out the door, they just trust people to only take their stuff.

Hi mate, thank you very much, i agree it was only my small blog i am aloud to talk about my experiences
Some people really are useless!
Hi Jessica, thank you very much for your comment, i appreciate it,
(Outstanding Customer Service is one of the first things that any business needs to get right and keep right, imo.)
Here in the States, the threshold is quite high for proving harmful/malicious slander, and most opinions and satire are protected by very expansive laws and precedent rulings on free speech - yet I know the technicalities are somewhat different there, so a single consult with a solicitor might not be a bad idea.

Hi Adele thank you for your comment i appreciate it
You are not in the wrong, fight your cause.
Thank you very much Louise, i will
nothing they can do
Hi Derek, thank you for your comment appreciate it.
The second video is good I think you could of said missing instead of stolen I think the auction house you are using owes you an apology for how they treated you it’s clear to me that you are innocent there guilty of been over reacting to your blog and there are lying themselves you are innocent until proven guilty dave
thank you very much yorkshire media . i appreciate you taking time to comment.
Hi paul. thank you very much mate, appreciate the comment. i am actually not worried about the auction, i would never go back there now no matter what
@@AntiquesArena Hi Walter you're a good person and very knowledgeable I think you're right just to move on. You didn't do or say anything wrong. Personally I think the auction house staff are up to shenanigans.
@@paultown6572 thank you 🙏
It's their loss.
hi Debborah, thank you very much, i appreciate your comment.
@@AntiquesArena Totally Understand my Friend
Hi Frank , thank you for your comment, tbh i like the auction and auctionier or did before this, i have no interest in going to war with them or hurting them. my films are just my vlogs, i speak the truth in them, if i mess up i say it, if i find a gem due to someone else messing up i say it. i did mention the auction house but have a hundred times before they were happy then
@@AntiquesArenafair enough, I was mad for you when I watched it. I think I'm a little more hot headed, I see the error in my ways now.
I think you need to talk to a solicitor. You could be in big trouble.
Hi thank you for your comment. I have spoken to a solicitor and have nothing to worry about apparently however no solicitor letter has come to date so looks like threats and bullying.
@@AntiquesArena hopefully you get things sorted soon.
@@MihaliWheeler thank you 🙏
Don't take your videos down Walter, you've posted perfectly legitimate content and done nothing to warrant the petty response from Cardiff City Auctions. Shame some tosser has sullied the good (rare!) auction house bargain for you but it sounds like there's still a pleasant profit in it for you. Best of luck to you
Thank you very much appreciate it Robert
You don't need the drama. I suggest you take all the problem videos down including this one and try to make amends.
Thank you i most probs will now
Why should Ed have to take the videos down? Ed hasn't done anytng wrong.
