@TerryUrquhart-v4w The Unimog turned up after we were more or less set up. We wanted to winch it out slowly rather than try and drag it out. Because we couldn't get a straight pull, it was trying to tip over and go deeper, which is why we secured it with the second winch. The Unimog wasn't fitted with a winch. But of course, there's always more than one way.

@achieveidealweighify It seems they were driving along the beach overnight, got stuck and the tide came in. The car then slides deeper. It happens a fairly often.
@SaucyWench88 There are jellyfish, but I think what you are referring to are some plastic bags with food in. They were in the vehicle and floated out through the open windows. We collected everything and disposed of it properly.
How would it rank in terms of challenge out of the numerous recoveries you've done? Never thought you'd go swimming in sea water to save a car did you?
@jaxsparrow2470 Other than going into the water, once we worked out how to stop it tipping, it was quite straightforward. While they still have water around them, they winch out quite easily, they seem to have a little buoyancy.
That vehicle will never be the same.

Very scenic though. It's a shame that the Cruiser is totalled.
Why not use the Unimog in the first place ?

Makes you wonder if the owner actually valued his Toyota.
