Volcanic terrain is very porous. the water soaks down, until it can't go further (when it hits non-porous rock, or clay, for instance). Then, it flows sideways. If it encounters a canyon wall, it becomes a waterfall, "right out of the rock".

Hope you never see it happen while you live. That volcano was very deadly and not just in Iceland. It lowered the earth's temps enough to cause the Mississippi river to freeze as far south as New Orleans. It caused widespread famine all across the Northern Hemisphere.

Isn't it awesome the lives these top youtubers get to live, whatever their thing is... Whether it's guns and they are crazy sponsored by different companies always giving them gear or that Peter Stripol who builds his own planes out of expensive gear.. I'd be happy with just a shop to mess around with and blacksmith/forge custom knives and blades..

It's soo cool that you got to see Laki. Laki is a very important event in geology because it's a miniature flood basalt event much like the famous Siberian Traps except much smaller and much more recent. The Siberian Traps caused the "Permian Extinction" event 250 million years ago, killing off about 80% of all living things on earth.
Laki is on my bucket list.

I was so bummed about the chase cam! The xc to get to the craters was about an hour. I didn't want to roll the chase cam for that journey as the battery would be close to dead when we got there. I linked it to my phone via wifi so I could turn it on when we got there. I guess the gopro timed out and disconnected so I couldn't turn it on when we arrived. :(
