I know you get these comments all the time, but between not risking it in the Navajo area and your comment about not doing touch-and-gos out of respect, I really admire the way you fly. You are a prime example of what people SHOULD do when given opportunities like this one, and if everyone could be as respectful as you are, we'd have a lot fewer problems and regulations to worry about. Keep sendin' it!
Tucker, I very much appreciate your explanation of why you didn't land or do a touch and go on the rock formations. Very smart response. "We're lucky enough to get to fly around them..." You showed some real class there. Nice.
Hey Tucker...I had this problem and spent a couple hundred dollars for a mechanic to tell me it was a short in the towing package. My hitch was not factory installed. You might want to check that first.
Yeah, exactly this. Unhook the trailer and see if all the problems are cleared. Also, check that the wiring harness to the trailer isn't being chewed up by being trapped during turns. Especially, since you have had several rounds of bottoming out the trailer while pulling through rough terrain. Check all the wiring on the trailer, you may have torn the harness up inside a structural member. BTW, a loose connection won't blow a fuse. You have a short.
Life with any vehicle is an adventure. Making a road trip in a used vehicle? Always a chance for issues. But you know how to roll and what to do.Great video as always.
This is an amazing video Tucker! With the video saturation of UA-cam it's easy to become complacent about a person's achievements. Less than 20 years ago, this kind of flying and quality of videography would not have been possible. Your unique ability to not only consistently fly and perform well, capture truly amazing vistas, then put it together with quality editing is outstanding. Some ideas for the future: Doing short pre and post flight interviews with your guest pilots (who are willing), making a "best of Tucker Gott" flying DVD, and submitting an entry in the Banff Mountain Film Festival. Thanks for the great stuff...keep it coming!
I'm an electrician, residential alt current. so nothing like your van. but whenever my boss sent me out on service calls a huge percent of time I would take it apart and put it back together and it would work. he got tired of charging for "I don't know but I fixed it" so we changed it to "loose neutral" when ever I fix something and don't know how its a Loose neutral.
Love this area, loved the video. REALLY cool that you didn't mess with the monuments. I often pretend I am on another planet, so you buzzing around would get old. It's nice that you are responsible, and respectful of the hikers.
Amazing views! Flying across the top of some of those formations allows you to see things that very few (if any) other people have ever seen that closely. Great video!
Tucker, it would be amazing to see some Sequoia (most massive living thing on earth) or Redwood (tallest living thing on earth) trees from the paramotor perspective. The Sequoias in Southern California are pretty incredible, and the Redwoods up north are even crazier. I hope you're able to check them out some time soon. They blow my mind every time I see them on foot.
Well said Joe. As of june 2019 he is nearly at 884,000 subs. He is great and so is the birds' I view of the stunning scenery of the mighty USA! I don't know who I love watching more President Donald Trump or airman Gott! Love to both from Australia. Cheer Mr. Showers.
Horseshoe Bend, one of my favorite photography locations. A float trip from the base of the Glen Canyon Dam to Lees Ferry is a nice flat water rafting trip. Plus you get to go into the long tunnel to get to the Colorado.
That was spectacular Tucker, such beautiful scenery to fly around, glad you did not land on top that was real ankle breaking scenerio and you do not want to be stranded.
Wow Tucker!!! What great views we would never get to see without your making the effort. Please keep in touch...five days between videos is way too long. All of us want to travel with you on this epic journey. Take care and enjoy the far west!!
One of the few UA-camrs that I watch the video from start to end. Awesome video. So weird to see those pillars just chillin in the middle of nowhere. Now I'm just looking forward to getting back up in the air as soon as it gets a little warmer where I live.
That was the best. That type of flying really shows the abilities of Paramotoring. Up close and personal never gets old. It's ok if you wear a helmet for those cold flights. I'd go full coverage donning cool shades if someone would sponsor you both.
Great video and I applaud you for your absolute safety. Sorry 'bout the van issues, but Murphy will come and go no matter where you are! Anyway, really digging the external drone footage of the drive (ie: Van Mobile in motion!) as a Patreon, enjoy the West and keep on flying the good flight!
Epic flight and location Tucker. I'm in Blanding and was following you on IG and was hoping to catch up with you when you were flying in the area, but missed out. Hopefully someday I can run into you on your adventures. Hoping someday I can be flying in the VoG. Epic location. Keep the great videos coming!!
Lol... love it when that happens... poke it with a stick and suddenly it works :) it will be back and it will be in that socket... Somehow the + left turn signal wire is grounding out on something
Don't know if you got it fixed or if anyone else has mentioned this but if the trailer wiring proves not to be the issue check under the van and make sure none of the floor screws went into the wiring harness underneath,or even inside around the left rear where the tail lamp is. Also, possible stupid question but have you tried unhooking the trailer before replacing the fuse then testing it? If it only blows when the trailer is connected the problem is probably in the trailer itself, not the van.
Short circuit in some of the wires or the lamp itself, for sure. That things can happen over time with older cars. Hope, you are able to fix that finally soon. Incredible view in these locations!
Wiltshire Man Nice work. I had 4 in total all local. Just circuits really as I had friends kiting on the field so didn't want to stray too far. More days like that are welcome!
It would be so crazy to find artifacts or petroglyphs on top of the formations. Its probly been thousands of years since anyone has been so close to the tops like that
Great video as always. I recommend you getting a logic probe to help easily find burnt fuses or a line short, they're like $10-$20. Plus it identifies the polarity of the line.
The jeep Easter Jamboree will be in moab this week. Would be sweet to see the activity from the air. Love the vid's and your attitude towards what you do, Truly an ambasitor for the sport....Cheers
Hay TG I'm really stoked on your flights. I wanna thank you for SENDING IT. Dude your patience and true understanding of your surroundings and awareness make you One Mellow Kewl headed pilot. Tucker I'm going to be a patron because Your Shananigans are Legit and make me Love your Sport. Lucky Dude. You guys make a cute team together be safe and use that chase cam .Gonna trim out on the blue arrow......,,
If you ever get a check engine light or anything goes wrong with your van, I recommend get a FIXD diagnostics tool. You just plug it into the diagnostics port in your vehicle and you see what's wrong on your phone. All you need to do is get that FIXD device and download the FIXD app on your phone.
Sounds like you had an intermittent short somewhere in the trailer wiring in back there - when you touched things, it moved the void in the insulation. I had the same problem with my trailer one time, except it was the running lights. Couldn't even see my trailer on the highway at night! I went through 200 feet of wire up and down the 18' flatbed, and found nothing. I wrapped electrical tape around any spot the wire passed through a washer (welded to frame as wire guides), and the problem was fixed. That was a great spot you found there. Even though I spent 2 years out West, there's still a billion places I never got to see. Thanks for taking us along! 👍
Whenever I get a vehicle in for lighting issues, usually the first thing I do is go after anywhere that's wrapped in electrical tape. Got to use good connectors up here in the Northeast, or else the road salt wreaks havoc. www.delcity.net/store/Terminals/
Hey man. If you haven't already, check the ground straps/wires on the van! There should be several. Most important the one from the battery to the chassis. There's one from the engine as well, and maybe more. I would say 90% of all the electrical issues I've had on a car has been related to poor earth/ground.
@Tucker Gott Blowing fuses are seldom caused by a poor connection but more likely by a wire to one of the left indicator bulbs touching earth. Usually where the wire goes through a hole in the trailer or trailer plug.
Electrical issues can be a bit vexing. I spent a month working out that General Motors had printed the planogram of my fuse box incorrectly. I also went back and forth with a dealer of French equipment in Waco, who went back and forth with someone in France, for several weeks until we solved the problem. Keep flying, I'll keep watching.
Tiny suggestion for the van that I think would make it look ultra professional: try installing plastic trunking for all the wire under the bed. They'll cover the wires and make it look waaay better. Keep up the amazing videos man!
I've done some composite work. If I had that strut hole I would fill it with an epoxy and diatomaceous earth mix. Then I would grind it down and feather the edges of the carbon fiber one layer deep back about 3/4 inch. I would tape and laminate a layer of 7 oz E fiberglass cloth with epoxy. It can be sanded and glossed with silmar 149 or 249 polyester resin. I would use the Suncure UV version, and skip the catalyst.
Watched the video on a 60" big screen is almost like being there I swear. Gave me goose bumps. What is with all this wind here in FL? Not sure I'm going to get to solo before I have to leave. Just got my reverse kitting down and I'm ready to go. And the weather just will not co-operate. AGH!!! I've got my fingers crossed for Friday. I had your t-shirt on and everything. :o)
Grounding/Earthing: Could the problem with your electrical system not be the output from the electrical system into the lights and such but how it flows out? Grounding in cars is typically done by just running a wire from the electrical system to a bolt that goes into the frame. Sometimes these grounding locations are on the bottom of cars and they rust over all the time and fail, sometimes rusting so much that the wire connecting the electrical system to the bolt rusts away and there is no longer any ground. Especially if you have extra current running through the van because of your solar system it could be overwhelming the other electronics in the van if there isn't a good ground for surplus electricity to run out of. Also this may be happening to you now rather than before because you moved from a humid climate to a dry one. Water in the air, humidity, conducts electricity really well or much better than dry air (no water) so the charges on the van from not having a ground might be much higher now because you are in a desert rather than in a grassy/foresty area like before when you bought the van and just started driving. Just an idea. Awesome video! Thanks for posting! Please keep up the great work on putting out such high quality videos!
GOTT, He is great and so is the birds' I view of the stunning scenery of the mighty USA! I don't know who I love watching more, President Donald Trump or airman Gott! Love to both from Australia. Cheer Mr. Showers.
Don't know what your setup is, but my buddy ran into an issue with some of his car's aux electricals (has a light on his roof for roadside assistance) and it was because of bad splicing. Specifically, he twisted them together and taped over with electrical tape. Which caused a loose connection after a few months of use. Best bet in any case would be to solder+heat shrink, if not you should at least pick up some butt splices and heat shrink at a local hardware store, and re-do the splice that way.
Check all your electrical grounds & solenoids, like trailer wiring. Something probably got wet or is corroded, more than likely isn't the fuses box it self, Check all the basics first. Look into buying a Chilton's or Haynes manual for that model van, they will have wiring diagrams and everything else about that vehicle. It will help in your endeavors tremendously!!
You're harness really should be properly connected (with crimp terminals and some heat shrink). The vibration from driving and weather can easily cause cause the twisted wires to come loose and short.
Tucker, is your wiper and turn signal on the same lever?? If yes check the wiring on the steering column for a bared wire at or near the area where it bends when the tilt is used. Or it could be a fault in the turn signal lever switch. good luck Fellow pilot in Canada. Cheers
Wire a little light bulb or stick a test light in the fuse socket, then turn on the blinker, if the light is on you know you have a short. Then you can start playing with wires until the light flickers or goes out. Saves blowing a bunch of fuses.
I have yet to see anyone fly over the Intrepid mining corporation's solar assisted phosphate leaching ponds @ Moab. I'd often seen them from flight level altitudes when flying the airliner, sometimes from hundreds of miles away when the weather and sun angels were just right. Check them out on google earth or even Intrepid's corporate web page. They have a deep blue hue, especially in the lower ponds as more water evaporates and the minerals are concentrated. Might make for some epic footage and cool color contrasts.
Think you're talking about the Texas Gulf Potash Ponds. Just plug "Potash Road Moab" into Google Maps and it'll get you in the general area. The whole area from there over to Dead Horse State Park is just an amazing place to fly. Search YT for "FPV Potash Ponds" and "COFPV moab pt2" to see my flights of the area. The pt1 vid is also us flying through Corona Arch. One bit of advice.. Do it *really* early before most of the hikers show up. There's really nothing legally to prevent you flying through the arch, but you'll have less wind at sunrise, and fewer annoyed people.
Hmm, I thought they looked pretty cool in person. They do change in volume and color over time though. Sometimes they're deep blue (like in my videos) and sometimes more pale and even yellow.
@13:52 Respect for *not* doing touch and go on the tops of the towers. Seeing you mess with your girlfriend on that tandem flight with her, I was like, "That guy needs to grow up. Not cool." (Lucky you have such a chill, no-drama partner.) As much visibility as you have, the more you show maturity in flying, the better for the sport.
you should make a step by step NON vlog video on how to get into paramotoring from the wing, motor, frame, seat, training, FAA rules, what you can and cant do, and the different components of the wing and what operates what. just really detailed videos that are in a way training but not official training just informational videos without a vlog style to it. I think a lot of people trying to get into it would benefit greatly from it.
Sprinters are notorious for electrical oddities in my 2008 the electronics in my overhead console controlled many things like wipers, lights etc I had to replace the whole unit around $400 try Berry Dodge in Corsicana Texas for reasonable and usually in stock Sprinter parts. RE trailer lights be sure to run a trailer wiring isolator do not try to tap any power from existing light circuits it messes up the ECU
Sounds like a grounding problem with the Van Mobile. Check main battery grounds, and behind the dash. An affordable multi meter and some probes will go a long way.
Only a short will blow a fuse, not a loose open. Definitely expect the problem to be in trailer wiring. Left turn wire running ground someplace between trailer wiring on van and trailer itself. Next time it’s blowing fuses, disconnect the trailer and see if it still blows then you will narrow it down.
Tucker Gott good then it’s not in the trailer itself, it’s in the trailer wiring of the van, probably rubbing the frame or hitch someplace and should be fairly easy since you know it’s the left turn wire.
Suggestion about your trailer you could use the rubber flooring they use in the restaurants its really suited for the inside of your trailer nailed to the insides.
For all the Doctor Who fans out there, you ended in the parking lot that Amy Pond got shot in. :D lol. Valley of the Gods is just stunning. Monument Valley is very well known, but just a few miles north is this gem and I agree, it is way more pretty. Also secluded. I think just a bit west and north of there is the Moki Dugway which is an insane road up the side of a cliff. It's pretty epic, though the wind has got to be nasty around it. It's literally a massive wall.
I know you get these comments all the time, but between not risking it in the Navajo area and your comment about not doing touch-and-gos out of respect, I really admire the way you fly. Good call on not top landing the formations, you're a great ambassador for our sport!
Not to mention if he caused damage to one of them he might get a 400 billion dollar fine or something.
Don't people climb them? Why would landing on one be worse? I would think that hammering pitons into them would do more damage.
Had same problem when I had a 7 to 4 pin adapter on my motor home, kept popping fuses. Changed adapter all problems solved.
My guess exactly! Had the same problem. Check your tie-ins for your trailer lighting and move on to your tail lights ect.
Safe travels!
Yep, had the same problem because of two plug not installed properly.
Weirdest thing, turn signal fault blows the wiper fuse???? Who knows, maybe someone in Germany got their documentation screwed up.
Life with any vehicle is an adventure. Making a road trip in a used vehicle? Always a chance for issues. But you know how to roll and what to do.Great video as always.

You've become amazingly good at editing your videos. Fantastic job on the edits and music.
AMEN TO THIS ONE Todd. Keep up good work Tucker you're amazing.
Always love the chase cam. Really adds a lot to your videos
2:32 haha that was a totally rad transition and how Jaclyn kept it going 🤙
yeah! glad you went to southern Utah finally!!
I dont know why you dont have a quadzillion subs yet. Your vids rock and your a good person. Your gonna get there keep up the great work Tucker.......
Well said Joe. As of june 2019 he is nearly at 884,000 subs. He is great and so is the birds' I view of the stunning scenery of the mighty USA! I don't know who I love watching more President Donald Trump or airman Gott!
Love to both from Australia.

Damn that was one of the most epic flights!

Love your choice in music. It adds a lot to the videos
Chase cam is righteous
I definitely wanted to see you foot drag tops though.
Your BEST video ever!
It would be nice to see you guys again in Vegas!

love your journeys and amazing pics great trip love your travels ..stay safe bloke happy trips
Tucker are you not worried your chase cam could get caught up in one of those rock formations ! - another great video

Your videos are really good. I really enjoy watching them when you post new ones! 😁
Awesome fly by.
Tucker,
Check out ~5 miles west of Mesquite, NV if you are ever in that area. Really neat plateaus and washes to buzz.
the drone at the start though. AWESOME.
Stormfluff wish I knew what drone it was. Footage is spot on
Lol... love it when that happens... poke it with a stick and suddenly it works :)

That is some Epic scenery. We do not have those views here in Wiltshire, but we still have a beautiful Shire and I love to paramotor around it:)
Sandy
Wiltshire Man Did you manage to get up Sunday? It was lovely in Leicestershire. Ground was dry enough to get the new wing out too 😁
I had 6 flights on Sunday including a nice cross country. Made a video but not in the same league as Tuckers:)

I bet its so true. No one else would be able to do it like Tucker did.
One of your best. Congrats
Check out heated clothing. There are whole catalogs/websites dedicated to this. Adjust your temp through flight!
Great video as always. I recommend you getting a logic probe to help easily find burnt fuses or a line short, they're like $10-$20. Plus it identifies the polarity of the line.
Never have used one, but sounds great for quick Troubleshooting.

Good job with the repair and thanks. That's my biggest gripe about other drivers, not using their turn signals (and texting, of course).

Where the wires go through the body there should be a Rubber grommet.
Beautiful Shots!
Suuuuper niiice. I love the use of 'cliff hanger'. Quite suiting. Best of luck with the next endeavor.

Relaxing! Thank you!
Shorts are what blows fuses - plus signal wires direct to chassis.
I've done some composite work. If I had that strut hole I would fill it with an epoxy and diatomaceous earth mix.
Your #1 reason deserves a thumbs up!!
When you phone is dry and you get a notification, only to check your phone and see there is no notification. Got got by the Gott.
Great as usual Tucker! Try some of those drugstore heat packs for those cold flights!
Awesome vid! Great scenes. Can you do more time just gliding? Its nice to hear the sound of the wind
Thanks Tuck
I can't wait to see these places from the air myself. Gotta wait for the ankle to fully heal though... #HEALFASTER

^--- THIS! Chiltons or Haynes if available. And beef up the ground wire to wherever the left side attaches if possible!
Moab is one of my Favorite places in the country... but i go there for offroading.... Arches Nat Park is going to be an amazing place to fly
Cheers
Tow wiring and possibly corrosion in sockets for the bulbs in the light fixtures around the van, start with the tow wiring first.
Wire a little light bulb or stick a test light in the fuse socket, then turn on the blinker, if the light is on you know you have a short. Then you can start playing with wires until the light flickers or goes out. Saves blowing a bunch of fuses.
A good place to try and fly over is Goblin Valley Utah. It is a pretty sight to see.
Stay tuned for the next episode, unfortunately, they looked way cooler on Google earth.
Hmm, I thought they looked pretty cool in person. They do change in volume and color over time though. Sometimes they're deep blue (like in my videos) and sometimes more pale and even yellow.
Well then use Google Earth for the thumbnail. :)
I love your videos soo much Keep Up with the Good Work! 👍❤
Tress cool footage!
As soon as you said turning on the left turn signal was bad, I thought "He's got a short in the trailer wiring" lol
this place is unreal !!!
Sounds like a grounding problem with the Van Mobile. Check main battery grounds, and behind the dash. An affordable multi meter and some probes will go a long way.
If this was in 3D would be awsome..nice video
How about 4k video cam footage!
Good Idea dude. Do a video flying with the northern lights. That would be so awesome.
Ya do watcha gotta do!
I know what the new helmet is for. The word is getting around. :)
do tell Woody
Are you two expecting a blessed event and you need a helmet for the little one? Jumping the gun a bit, no?
3D VR recording?
Don’t jump to conclusions 😉
That Valley of the Gods looks like Dragon Ball territory
Checked out the store. Where's the hoodie, where's the hat? Gangsta merch is where it's at.
I had tried that initially and it still blew fuses. 😕
Looks like you could have a faulty wiper/turn signal switch/stalk. Loving the vids
It's literally a massive wall.
my fear of heights I would freak out doing that--just watching this made me woozy
Hell yeah dude!
