How to Adjust a Running Toilet🚽 😀

- Toilet won't stop running? Fix a toilet that won't stop running in just a few seconds! The most common cause is the fill valve being out of adjustment or needing replacement. It could also possibly be the flapper but the fill valve is usually the cause. In this quick video I show you how a fill valve works and how to adjust it. If you think you need a new fill valve always know where your main water shut off is before turning off the water to any fixture just in case the fixture valve fails! Good luck! #shorts #diy #plumbing
Do you have an older running toilet with big float ball that you want to adjust? Check out my other videos specifically - How to Adjust a Running Toilet Old or New. Thanks for watching!
Just solved my toilet problem bc of this video. Thank you!!!
Adjusting is all I needed! Thank you so much!

Hey I did exactly what the video says and IT STOPPED!! HERE'S HOPING THAT ONE TRICK WORKS!!
Thanks!!!! Saved me!! 🎉
Great! Many thanks, quick, to the point, simple explanation - exactly what I need to know!
Glad to help!
Worked like a charm!!
Thanks this actually helped a lot
I hope this works
I’m about to try! Sudden spike in water bill & visibly at least so far this is the only thing I can find. I noticed the water stains were becoming impossible to get to gf and when I put cleaner on it. No matter what wayer was still silently slowly going into the bowl 24/7 🤞 ty!!
It worked! You’re a legend!
This is all accurate enough, with one important clarification: If the toilet previously operated correctly and suddenly this began occuring, making this adjustment is a temporary fix at best as the fill valve has been compromised. If you're experiencing this, you should also be sure to perform a water pressure test on the home (static and thermal). Its very common for fill valves to exhibit this problem due to excessive pressure. Always verify the root problem, not just the symptom.
You are amazing! I was ready to replace everything in the tank. You are a lifesaver!
Thanks for taking away my stress
Wow it Worker. Thank you
OMG thank you! It worked! 🙌🏾
Thanks this was just what I needed after a couple of 200 water bills
Thank you!
That hrlped! Thank you! 😊
Thank you so much!
Thank you. That is my problem. 😊😊
Great Little Video Thanks
Every video I watch has that adjustment screw. But the toilet I have doesn’t have it lol 😅
Thanks, worked!
Thank you!!!
Thanks!!!!
Thank you so much! So helpful!
Glad it helped, thanks for watching!
Thanks! 🤙
Thank you 😊
This video was a god send. Thank you for the information!
You're welcome!
Many Thanks!
Thank you so much
My tank lid is pushing down on the lever. Can I twist the lever so it’s pointing more to the center on the tank
@@bobbybrooks5846 Yes but it means turning water off, slightly loosening fill valve, adjusting & reassembly. Sometimes you can also adjust height, check out my Fluidmaster concealed trap toilet vid. Good luck!
@@JENSENDIY appreciate the response back
Thank you 🙏🏾
Thank you very much
I lowered mine and now that tube keeps filling that pvc pipe 🤷♀️
Try raising the float just a little and see if that stops it. If not it may be time for a new fill valve.
OMG that worked!
Thank you! This just stopped my toilet from running and saved me a plumber bill!🎉
Glad to help, thanks for watching!
Mine has no screw. It makes no sense. I lifted the thing manually and it doesn’t stop it. I even did this on another toilet that doesn’t keep runnng and lifting it did nothing. It just stops when it’s supposed to. It makes no sense. Even more weird is sometimes the running toilet DOES stop! wtf!
It sounds like you need to replace the fill valve. You could install a Fluidmaster with adjuster. It’s hard to determine without seeing it but if it’s an older toilet l would replace the fill valve, good luck!
Thank you for the amazing video! This fixed the issue. I will definitely follow you
Glad to help, thanks for watching!
Thank you!! My hubs replaced the whole piece but it was still running. I just adjusted the screw the way you show. Hopefully this is the end of the story🎉
Glad it helped! I have found that most of the time after installing a new fill valve the water level requires adjustment.
The lever pushes up but the water keeps running, im guessing the whole thing needs to be replaced 😮💨
Possibly, but you could also check the valve seal. Check out my How to fix a hissing toilet video. Good luck!
Yes I’m having the same issue too
Perfect
Appreciate it bro might become a plumber
Thank you
Glad to help!
Really helpful thanks !!!
Thank you. I was able to fix it 😁👍
Glad to help!
Master, what is the black tube from the fill valve to the overflow for?
Bowl Refill
Thank you! It help a lot 😊
Glad to help!
I hope this works. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thank u
Mine was to low, had to do the reverse
But now my toilet won’t fill?
@@ozo2504 Try turning the adjuster the opposite way until it starts filling & if that doesn’t work it’s probably time for a new fill valve
How do you fix the adjustment screw coming off? So the sensor doesn’t know when to stop
All l can suggest is to try spinning it the opposite way to get it back into place and if that doesn’t work you may need to replace the fill valve. Good luck!
Switch this what? At the end
@@ResentGhost If the adjustment doesn’t work, the entire fill valve may need to be replaced👍
My toilet looks nothing like that on the inside
Do you have a video on how to change the float piece. I need that because I fixed the water level but the water still runs after the float stops rising
You could try my How to fix a hissing toilet video and if that does not work you will most likely have to change the fill valve. The float is part of the fill valve. Good luck, thanks for watching!
@@JENSENDIY To late I did something wrong now the toilet wont stop running but there’s no water even coming out to fill the tank
@@maryneal3914 Sounds like you need a new fill valve, good luck!
@@JENSENDIY i tried that and i think it helped, my toilet valve after turning it back on started having vibration noises so i had to fix that problem too, after fixing all those issues, i think my toilet fills to the correct line now and doesn't run past it
Great short vid.
Thanks!
Mine shoots water through that black tube like every 20 seconds. Why? I replaced it and it does that now
Check out my “fix randomly running toilet” video. Could be the flapper.
Where does the water come in? I think mine is clogged
Check out my, How to Fix a Hissing Toilet video, I hope it helps you out!
"Counter clock wise"
Yeah that didn't work. I need a new fill valve.
Gg,ez.
Thanks boss
Thank you!
Thank you so much!!!
Thank you!!!
Glad it helped!
