I spent 25 days on a off shore drilling rig in the Mediteranian Sea. The water was absolutely gorgeous and you could see marine life down about 10 feet with our straining. We were about 60 miles off of the Cyprus coastline.
good night that looks amazing there...that light! that blue sky and clear water...sooooooooooo cool...and YOU look amazing with beard gone for the Greek Isles! You look great both ways but this looks so perfect for the sunny place...soak up those rays!
I must say you look 10 years young without all that facial hair! Bravo on the bike situation, although I don't think anything would get you down! I love your carefree spirit, you rock Gabe! Greece looks awesome on yuh my friend, take care n enjoy the journey. Until next time ✌🙏🌷
Hello Vassia! I travelled there last year and I used www.ferryhopper.com You can compare all ferry operators and also book online with no extra fees. I think you can also book with special offers that exist, like Early booking or the offers for caravans etc I hope you will have a great time if you are planning to go :D
I usually book my ferry tickets at a tourist office in Athens. You can also book them online, but I prefer to book them in person and get the ticket handed to me right there.
Thanks, that was helpful. I am debating on which ferry to take. I do like being up on deck as well but don't want to spent so much time traveling. It didn't seem too bad watching this video.
Oh no! Your tire popped! I felt so bad for you. Also, that is pretty impressive that you made your way up that mountain! I also went to Greece and specifically remember that hill. I was in a tour group, so we had a little bus take us up. I would love to travel on my own someday, but still a bit of a wimp. :\
9 dollars for the hostel !! WOW that's pretty nice price! pretty cheap for europe i hope i come across those cheap hostels but better be comfortable as well! nice video
Gabe,. U r 2 much. How difficult was it to bike up the hill in Santorini? Also, how could you take the pictures while you were riding the bicycle? Your travelling exploits are legendary. Just keep doing it. Raj
Yeah, it was the first thing I knew I needed to get, but I was impatient to get the heck out of Athens. Fortunately it worked out. But I still need to get one for the next time it happens.
I haven't seen the video (he maybe mentions that in the video) but I would like to WARN everybody, to buy food and drinks before you get into the ship. Stuff is really expensive on ships.
I ended up going to Ios after Santorini because I liked the look of it after seeing it from the ferry. Got lots of videos from there: ua-cam.com/users/gabejedmosearch?query=Ios
your videos are so honest, informative and pleasent to watch. I am travelling to paris soon and have watched your paris tour probably 30 times now :v :v I think i have a 3d map of touristi areas of paris in my head now :v :v
Your videos are awesome!, do you have a hand tripod? I actually don't know if you do, but it is easier than carrying it barehanded. I'm bingewatching your videos, they're great! safe travels.
I don't have a hand tripod, I just hold the camera most of the time. And I have a small gorilla pod tripod that I use for stationary shots on the ground. Glad you're enjoying the videos!
When you're traveling on ferry or train what do you do with your luggage if you need to go to the washroom? Is it pretty safe no one will touch it after you've stowed it?
Love watching your videos number 1 utuber ..Gabriel how long did it take on the ferry from Athens to santorini going there april this year looks amazing ✌️👍
Thanks. That was a fast ferry so I think it was about four hours. The slower ferry is cheaper but takes about eight hours from Piraeus to Santorini. April is the perfect time to go, there shouldn't be any crowds there and prices will be lower for hotels.
Hey Gabriel, love you travel videos! They are genuinely awesome. Keep shooting them!!! However, would like to ask, how did you actually purchase those ferry tickets? Online or on the place? Could you please also explaine how to actually do it better in Greece and wether or not i should do it by considering some few days in advance as i have planned a trip to Greece and it's islands on this August's last week. If you could answer and give some more tips regarding to ferry tickets in this country, it would be really helpful and kind to hear from you😉 Thanks Regards, Richard.
Hi, to purchase this ferry ticket that time I took the metro down to Piraeus and booked the ticket at an office at the port. However you don't need to go all the way down there. You can just find a tourist office in Athens somewhere and buy a ticket there. That's what I did the last time. You can find them by asking around and probably by checking on your phone. And I'm sure you can also purchase them online, but I'm not sure about that and prefer to buy it from someone in person. When you get to Athens just ask the people at your hotel or ask at a tourist info office and they will tell you where you can buy it. Have a great trip.
hiw long did it take from the port to Ios? And then to Santorini? (and what other island did you pass? did you pass Paros and Naxos as well?) If you remember and answer I will be so thankful!!
On this trip then Ios was the only other island we docked at, though we passed a few other islands, not sure which ones. I went to Ios after Santorini, after seeing it from the ferry since it looked nice. Check out this other video in which I show a bunch of other islands. I've also been to Naxos and Paros. I recommend Paros especially. ua-cam.com/video/RBhN8AmnOjk/v-deo.html
I was going to take another one but they offered me a deal on this ticket. I went to six different islands on this trip so I took a bunch of ferries, pretty sure I took a Blue Star ferry. Check out this other video: ua-cam.com/video/RBhN8AmnOjk/v-deo.html
From where I can buy tickets of Farries ??nd if want to travel to Myconos as well then where should I go First? Mykonos to santoroni or Santorini to Mykonos??
You can buy tickets for the ferries either by going directly to the port at Piraeus (near Athens) or else by booking online or at a tourist office somewhere in Athens.
back in greece why not try some place you have never been before? how about portugal ?just a thought but you seem to be retracing your steps ,have thought about that?happy trails to you.
From hiking in the Himalayas to biking in the Greece Islands! Are you going to visit the 'Tomato Industrial Museum'? Would be top of my list... Ok maybe not :D
It's on a sign post at 11:23. I went to trip advisor... 4.5/5 stars from 75 reviews and a 'certificate of excellence'. I'm pretty sure I still wouldn't go ;)
I actually saw the sign for it yesterday while I was out exploring and thought of you mentioning. I'm sure it would be fascinating for ketchup enthusiasts.
Hey there Gabriel, I've just started watching your videos, they are very cool and interesting, hope you are enjoying your trip in Santorini. By the way, where are you from the States?. Greetings from Spain, Barcelona !
You can easily book them at ferry offices in Athens. You should book it at least a day in advance so that you know what time it's going and that there is room. But there are lots of different ferry companies so there will be something available. Or you can book them online, but I've never done that and am not quite sure how to do it.
Wow Gabe, Greece looks stunning (even Athens). Another place added to the list. Have you noticed any effect the recent economic collapse of sorts has had on Greece? Looks pretty normal. Hopefully someday I'll get to travel like you. Aiming for a budget vacation next year, maybe stay in the States (Utah or something) or Colombia or Peru (how i found you vids).
I live in Greece and yep, things are pretty normal. We just have to live on a tight budget, since our wages have been cut almost in half through the last 6-7 years. Besides that, we are still enjoying life, going out, and keep blaming our shitty government...
I speak a little bit of Spanish, a little Hindi (in India) and just a few words of Greek. Other than that, there are just too many languages in different countries around the world to try to speak the local language. English is the most commonly spoken second language so people speak it in a lot of places around the world. So you can travel just fine if you speak English.
Mostly just one-way flights. Depends on where I'm flying to. I do research beforehand. I had a return flight when I flew to Colombia last year, because I'd heard that it was required. I wasn't asked about it at immigration, but the airline did ask me if I had an onward flight.
Ha ha, I know right? I think I know when one of them started following me, more than a year ago. I noticed that suddenly all my videos got a thumbs down right away when that wasn't happening before. Oh well, whatever.
It was a ways, because I biked it later and was thinking, "dang, I walked this far??" I'd say it was about a kilometer to get to the shop and then another kilometer to get to the town where the hostel was. So maybe around a mile altogether but that's probably off one way or another.

In the bottom of the ferry where the vehicles go. There are racks for luggage. I have a bicycle lock that I use to lock my bag to the rack, just to be safe.
Why do you like this island so much? As far as i've seen there is no beach with proper golden sand on it, I think the only one out of all the islands, not exactly tempting beaches are they.
Yeah it doesn't have the best beaches, but it does have a couple good ones and it's also an interesting island for other things like the villages, landscapes, hiking, ancient ruins, etc. It's not my favorite island though, I like some other ones more.
I spent six weeks in Greece, then flew to the Netherlands for two weeks and am now in Portugal. Next to Spain and then I fly back to the United States at the end of this month.
Brazil scare me too. asian travel guy is hitchiking to go there at the moment and he want to do it in the whole country too. Will see if being scare is founded. I am use to leave for 6 weeks. Greece is on your top list ? Hope you will show why. If true, i might find time to go even maybe just for 10 days for a start and shake your hand in person. That would be a good motivation. People on your channel don' t always like me to be negative about a country or a place. You must attract a particular crowd because there are other channels with other people that tend to agree with me or me with them when i feel negative about a place. As for appreciation on ruins and climbing a mountain and then an other, many people are not fund of that either. And i talk to people who travel and don' t make videos out of it and they are sincere anough to say what they didn' t like . My brother told me girls in Greece are pretty hairy, like too much. Maybe you will be able to see if he is right or wrong !!!
I got the bike in Athens near Monastiraki Square. If you walk down the street from there then there are a bunch of thrift stores along the street selling all sorts of used stuff, including a lot of bicycles.
Depends on how far you're going and which ferry you take. But this trip was 44 euros for the fast ferry, or it would have been less for the slower ferry.
Vern Riviere Nice. I have tons of Greek islands videos: ua-cam.com/users/gabejedmosearch?query=greek+islands And also I would grab a guidebook for Greece and do a bit of reading, there are so many islands, depends on what sort of stuff you like to do and what scene you're looking for.
Well historical spots i have a small list already, but given that you have been there there must be some places that caught your eye and made you hold your breath these i'd like to visit... thank you for the link by the way!
Vern Riviere Amorgos and Astypalea islands were both really awesome. Patmos is great. Milos is interesting. Santorini is kind of a must see and worth it even though it's touristy. Especially if you go in off season. You can't go too wrong with the Greek islands, it's nice to experience a variety as each one is different.
Climbing that mountain and going back and forth just to get the camera back was not a good idea, you should have had your gopro with you and climbed showing us the road as you did later in the video, that should have been easier for you.
Greece, Greek food , beer, hospitality on a Greek island is one the most amazing experiences ever

Fuckin' hell... you cycled your way up from the port in Santorini.... what the video won't tell is the intense heat... what can I say, congrats!
Thanks, yeah that's quite an uphill climb.
Thanks, that was helpful. I am debating on which ferry to take. I do like being up on deck as well but don't want to spent so much time traveling. It didn't seem too bad watching this video.
I get very excited when I see videos of the greek islands. Santorini is lovely, but try Naxos and Paros too!
I went to Naxos the last time and enjoyed. Might go to Paros this time.
love Greece and Santorini!
Thanx Gabe. This journey is a real treat for me.

The first thought when I saw the bike was: I hope he has a patch kit too. Oh well :D
Looks like you still had a great time.
Yeah, it was the first thing I knew I needed to get, but I was impatient to get the heck out of Athens. Fortunately it worked out. But I still need to get one for the next time it happens.
The next time you will come to Greece you must come to Zakynthos island...
If you come,in summer, i will take you to the bests places...
Beautiful water.
I haven't seen the video (he maybe mentions that in the video) but I would like to WARN everybody, to buy food and drinks before you get into the ship. Stuff is really expensive on ships.
I love this guy.
Santorini... definitely interesting BUT you have to admit the smaller cycladic island at the beginning of the ferry ride was much more welcoming

As for appreciation on ruins and climbing a mountain and then an other, many people are not fund of that either.
And i talk to people who travel and don' t make videos out of it and they are sincere anough to say what they didn' t like .
My brother told me girls in Greece are pretty hairy, like too much. Maybe you will be able to see if he is right or wrong !!!
where did you buy it pls?
your bike
I got the bike in Athens near Monastiraki Square. If you walk down the street from there then there are a bunch of thrift stores along the street selling all sorts of used stuff, including a lot of bicycles.
Cool thx
And for how Much
Thank you for answering so quickly!
I leave in santorini and i was wandering how he didnt get a flat tire and the next moment 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ha ha.
how much is the ferry?
Depends on how far you're going and which ferry you take. But this trip was 44 euros for the fast ferry, or it would have been less for the slower ferry.
thank you, i'm planning on going to greece in a few weeks and probably do the islands by ferry if you have any suggestions please let me know!

Nice. I have tons of Greek islands videos:

And also I would grab a guidebook for Greece and do a bit of reading, there are so many islands, depends on what sort of stuff you like to do and what scene you're looking for.
Well historical spots i have a small list already, but given that you have been there there must be some places that caught your eye and made you hold your breath these i'd like to visit... thank you for the link by the way!

Amorgos and Astypalea islands were both really awesome. Patmos is great. Milos is interesting. Santorini is kind of a must see and worth it even though it's touristy. Especially if you go in off season. You can't go too wrong with the Greek islands, it's nice to experience a variety as each one is different.
the bike was well overpriced... new one probably in walmart like place for 120
Climbing that mountain and going back and forth just to get the camera back was not a good idea, you should have had your gopro with you and climbed showing us the road as you did later in the video, that should have been easier for you.
I was taking breaks as I went up the hill, so it worked into the climb fine actually. A little extra work but no biggie, I was in no hurry.
Were you able to resell that bike eventually?
No, here's what happened with it: ua-cam.com/video/kSvs99_LczE/v-deo.html
