I have to agree. The 24 player mod was insane I even paid for that and I never buy add ons ever anymore.. but that was funny as hell. I had to drop the racer count to 16 as a maximum amount as my wii is quite weak I don’t know how people can play 24 racers on custom tracks lol.. but 16 people is better then 12 it’s so fun lol

I’ve been playing since the Wii U version. Although I haven’t played deluxe as much as the original. It’s so cool it’s stood the test of time
Same I played maybe a handful of times on the switch. I feel like I burnt out on the game on the Wii u. Played so much of it. I'm glad it's still thriving but me personally I'm ready for the next generation of Mario kart
Swear to god on 2015, 200cc felt like those star wars scenes that on the ships were super fast

A game's soundtrack makes or breaks the experience. I kid you not, one of the only reasons I come back to this game occasionally IS for it's big band soundtrack. That's the only thing even the Booster Course Pass consistently got right. And thats a miracle in itself

for the type of channel they started a decade too late, but there is always room for more, look at how Pitch Meetings destroyed Honest Trailers and Cinemasins, even though they were very late into the game.

You glossed over how the double item box and it's changes. It plays at a mid point between Double Dash and the other Mario Kart games where you could hold your item to get another in reserve, but unlike double dash, you can't swap the items while driving. Plus with the coin item, some times it is better to hold off on using it, as you can't have two coins in your inventory. Then when you grab the single box, you're guaranteed an item.

MK8DX is back to being one of my favorite games due to the course pass, but I’m not going to pretend like it wasn’t a dead game for like 4 years
I do have to admit: prior to the BCP's announcement, MK8DX was getting kinda stale. Due to that, I was playing quite a bit of Tour, while also delving into the modding community for Wii. These new stages are cool, and they definitely reignited interest in the game for me.
Back in March my high school friends and I got together and dusted off one of our old Wii U's and started playing Mario Kart 8. We were playing the base version from spring 2014 and it was so strange seeing how small the character select screen was and the smaller amount of courses to drive on. The same thing applies to base Smash 4. With all the updates it means that the next Mario kart game has some really big shoes to fill.
I hope they add Toad colors in the final wave! I really want Blue Toad
I do hope they add a lot of costumes from Tour.
I did definitely get bored of it for a while, but I admit that Nintendo pumping extra content to keep it afloat has got me playing again.

Idk what it is about this game but it always has this fresh feeling that it had when it first released. I think for a Nintendo game in 2014 it was way ahead of it’s time so it still feels modern today

I hope by the end of the Booster Course Pass updates they include a Random Map Select option, like in Smash Ultimate or the ability to create a playlist of tracks. There's so many now that it kind of becomes overwhelming selecting one sometimes haha

Tour is MK9. None of these tracks are original. They're ported from Tour, which doesn't have the gacha mechanic anymore. They patched it out.
Not all of them, some just have the same release dates and are designed for tour

Gotta say! This is quite the video and it DEFINITELY encapsulates EVERYTHING great that went into Mario Kart 8 and DX. From whatever the hell an idea it was to add in returning karts for the first time, a whole row's worth of spinoff AND Crossover characters, and 16 whole courses to doing all in one big thing of an update to positively setting off the fans with a DX port that has so little yet so much enough to offer from the start, this definitely gives you that cue to remember what MK8 is. May as well say that in itself and for a two game collection, MK8 is a franchise on it's very own!

As you named the DLC courses of the Wii U DLCs I just remembered that I forgot many of these were actually DLC courses. They fit in so naturally that you can easily forget. The newer DLC courses on Switch are a bit lazier, but still very fun!

Honestly I'm giving Waves 1 and 2 some slack. I mean given that it had been years since Mario Kart 8 had any huge updates since when it was released as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and they were working on Mario Kart Tour as well. I can understand the mishaps. Plus I guess I don't really get mad at graphics like other people do. I enjoy getting new courses, listening to cool music, and just having fun.
Which Mario Kart 8. Or I'm calling it Mario Kart Mobius Strip at this point. Is a beautiful game and honestly that one day. We'll have that Mario Kart Ultimate. Where EVERY single course from Mario Kart SNES all the way to now and in the future. Can be possible. Just like with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Duude when I went over to my friend’s house in 2014 and was introduced to his Wii U and Mario Kart 8 my mind was blown by how beautiful the graphics were. Even now I still boot up 8 deluxe and marvel at how good it looks compared to every other title.
I actually think the most important change from wiiu to deluxe was the removal of fire hopping in exchange for purple mini turbo. Greatly reduced the skill requirement to be considered good at the game as well as how you think about racing lines.

I played the Wii U version and the Switch version too. Wave 6 is expected to come out in the fall/wintertime, and apparently Mario Kart Tour will soon be no more once the Tour servers shut down, so Mario Kart 8 is porting the Tour tracks into Deluxe.

Tour is treated as a mainline entry by Nintendo
The second biggest flaw of the Wii U version was a bug that was present on 50 to 150cc class, called Fire Hopping and extended your boosts if you hopped left and right. This favored meta builds to focus on ground top speed as back then, there were little to no impact on the mini-turbo duration between opposite builds. So while there was more variety with heavy Mii, Bowser, Morton, Wario and Dry Bowser than when Waluigi reigned mostly alone, the massive presence of heavy vehicles on the road made it unplayable for lighter kart who would get bumped out easily. And, our R triggers and Left sticks were beginning to suffer from the abusive hopping, pretty much like the ancient era of GC/DS snaking.
@Sparksterlot To be honest with you, after 1100 hours of fire hopping and pretty much killing my gamepad's left stick, I had enough and even tho at the time I wasn't happy to see MK8 getting ported rather than replaced, it was all worth it at the end.
My little cousin just got MK8D and seeing him play it reminded me of being 12 in 2014 and getting a Wii U bundled with MK8😢

Going into 200cc I had literally never used the brake button unless I was goofing off. Going into 200cc I literally couldn't drive without falling off a bunch. It really did change everything about the game
It's broken
I had this prophetic dream, where after the bcp is done, nintendo releases this nintendo direct where it shows the 8 in the logo flipping on its side and the game changing name from mario kart 8 deluxe to mario kart infinity (deluxe).
And with that the announcement of a second bcp with more tracks, more characters, more battlemode maps and modes.
It genuinely amazes me that this game has somehow been the only console Mario Kart for nearly a decade. I’m not a big fan of the base game’s hyper realistic style or crossovers, but I’m glad it gave us new tracks and new characters.
The next goal should be a Booster Course Pass 2, which adds the remaining retro tracks, characters, battle maps, karts and items from Mario Kart Tour. That could last for another year or two, or keep the game as Mario Kart Ultimate for now.
How many remaining courses left from tour? There aren’t much left let alone nitro courses

I really like this game. I'm only playing the base game and it has so much content already! never got bored! I love this I'm still thinking if I should get a booster course pass but I don't play often.
also, with the rumors of the next switch I'm thinking if I should go and wait for MK9. the question still follows ("How are they gonna surpass MK8?")

I like toad circuit, if you start first it is very likely you will front run the race, the track is so short and so fast the blueshell and lightning never come out soon enough.
I like the track too. It’s simple, but pleasant. The textures aren’t a big problem.

Biggest addition you forgot to mention is the custom items mode added in BCP, you have so much freedom with your item choices, there are nearly infinite permutations.
There's only 4194304 (a number that is infinitely far from infinite) and the right word is "combinations" because the order you choose the items doesn't matter 🤓

The main reason is actually because Tour won’t last forever so they’re just archiving all Tour tracks. That’s it. You can thank Tour for 8 deluxe’s dlc

Not only because of Tour, but also because Mario Kart 8 is the second best selling game from Nintendo (MK8 has 60 mio and Wii Sports has 83 Mio), so it would be dumb to release a new Mario Kart Game obviously and they just had to use this opportunity (I bet that MK9 already exists, but it will get released on the next gen console and they are developing even more MK9 content, because they have enough time now)
