The gentleman at 13:30 was saying that this road used to be a dangerous place for travelers and in war times because it is the only way through the wadi, so they would get ambushed from up top by bandits/enemies during battles.
He didn't say travellers, war times, or bandits. Your translation is a bit misleading. Unless you're familiar with that place.

Amusement parks are cute, but you can never duplicate the unique Wadi experience you shared with us.. thank you! Also, it’s about time someone came up with a app that allowed you to do your own private recommendations and get a commission.
