It is very sad that people feel the right to criticise when you are giving up your own time to offer quality ideas for others. I actually enjoy longer videos where I’m getting great information that can help me in my artistic journey. Thank you for all you do.
As far as a video goes, if it's boring, that's on me and I move on. Now yours - they are anything but boring! You're my favorite person to watch! Your ideas are amazing and what you share is ample to fill several journals! Your directions are clear, and I'm able to follow. Thank you for sharing and taking time to do what you do. Joyce :)
You're one of my favorite teachers! Don't worry about the half percent of those who are unhappy with someone else's instructions! Just "poo-poo" them and carry on! 😄 I look forward to your ideas. TFS🤗
Great instruction on making the windows. I've been papercrafting for many years and when I watch your videos I still pick up really great tips and techniques. Thank you!
Your videos are very informative and it didn't matter that it was longer then norm. It was not boring as everything you show us is teaching us something. Thank you!!!
Thank you for sharing! I love that the things you make are more outside the box than others and always one more step to make it perfect. So easy to make and easy to follow your instructions. Oh...glad you use regular scrapbook paper!!!! 😀
SO funny!! "...and thats what sweatpants are for." I binge watch when I can. You are very inspiring! If folks don't like long videos????.......simple solution ... don't watch. Thank you Cori for all your amazing videos!
Your videos are the best!!! I have never made a belly band as I am newer but always thought I would just use a piece of paper. I LOVE the envelope style belly band! Also, I do plan to put the idea book together but have only made a few of these ideas so far. Glad I can come back to these videos as needed! Thanks! 😊
Super.👍 Very helpful tips. I really like the specimen cards. They look fun. I'm going to put pressed flowers in them. Thank you for sharing and working so hard.
Lol I'm busy making faux specimen slides with pressed flowers. Also butterflies printed onto acetate before sandwiching in so only one needed. I haven't needed glue, I just close together with a little ds tape before sewing. Love belly bands! I make ribbon tie ones for cards and they're very pretty. Ooh, I think I'm going to try a belly band with a window in!! Thank you for the inspiration 💖
I have spent the day watching your videos. Thank you for sharing these wonderful ideas. I have enjoyed all the ones I watched and I am happy to say I learned quite a lot. Thank you.🇨🇦
I’m not sure whether to say thank you or apologize! That’s a whole lot of my gravely voice. However, I’m happy that you learned new things and that you enjoyed the videos 💕
I am so happy to have found you on UA-cam, you have so many creative ideas and tips, you are a wonderful teacher and I thank you for sharing them with us,I really appreciate it.
Love the envelope belly band. I have three concept journals in process, so I am making one of each project for my idea book and three more for the journals. Doing it four times in a row really cements the idea in my brain. Sometimes I will also tuck a little note or diagram into the pocket or tuck, or even paste it into the idea journal, because if I don't use the process for months or years, I WILL forget how to do it.
Love you videos and this series. When I first started watching you had to get use to all the options on you rcreations, now I love it, it makes me think and not just copy. Though love you style and find myself using the way you put things together. Thanks 🥰🤸🏿♂️
Making those personalized mini journals and doing this series, I can imagine things falling everywhere. The mess we create from a project is amazing, how does that happen? Lol. Love the window cards, going to get busy and make some of them. Thanks again, loving.
I love all of your ideas Cori! I thank you for answering all the questions that we have because it is so helpful. Your creations are lovely and I appreciate your replies! Tyfs@
Another great video! Thanks...love the envelope belly band!!! You brought a smile with “deally bop” I haven’t heard that in years!!!! 😆😉😉😉 Have a great day!!☀️🌸🌸
Wonderful! Your videos are so helpful. Thank you for inspiring me to make my own scrap buster idea book. My 30 year old daughter is taking an interest now.
Awesome, Cori. Love your ways of creating belly bands! I remember using the OHT’s in front of the class, many many moons ago! 😂😂 How times change as do the methods used. 😀💞
Dear Cori, I think to be an interesting and knowledgeable person you also have to develop a really tough hide. Isn’t that sad that you can’t just teach the ones who want to learn and the others could just go away and do whatever it is they do and (who cares!). Love as always
Thanks so much! Could you talk about using bags in jj? I have some cool bags from stores that could make a great pocket. Also using clusters. I love the making of embellishments and have a harder time figuring out where to put them. Have a blessed day!
The belly band from envelopes is such a good idea. Shame as I just got busy and put a load of stuck down envelopes in the recycling bin only last week 😭
Thank you for another easy to follow and understand video! I am glad you went over the double sided paper clip as I realized I was confused and I didn't even know it! QUESTION: Should I make one of each of these so I can put them in a book with you at the end like you suggested? Is that kind of what we are going for?
Only found your channel 2 weeks ago but I’m hooked and watched almost all of your videos, some two or three times xx love your style xx please could you let me know how you coffee dye the tracing paper? Dose it not get too wet? 💜
Hello and welcome! Yes, it gets very wet. I dunk each sheet, separately, in a plastic tray then I lay it flat(ish) to dry. I have an old table I use, so the finish on the table isn't important. Once it's completely dry I stack the pages and place them in my paper press. It's just two sections of 1/4" plywood with holes at each corner to hold flat-head screws and wing nuts. I tighten, let the pages flatten overnight and done. I use a very simple method, but it works for my needs.
I enjoyed this video. You explained things very clearly and was very understandable. I was wondering if you have a checklist for a few beginner journal projects? Or maybe you can recommend something. Thanks 😊
Thank you Jen! I agree that creating an entire journal can be overwhelming at first. Maybe make a few pockets or pieces or items that you like, then put them in a bin to save for when you feel ready to tackle a journal to house them.
Enjoy the series. You explain everything so well What is that scraper. I kno you mentioned in a previous video but I don’t think you said where to get one Thank you
Most of the ones I use are Tim Holtz/Sizzix dies. There are both smaller and larger sizes. I also got three individual flower dies from Simon Says Stamps.
May be that this is more for people living in Europe,( I do not know about shipping time to the US), I have been buying magnets from a site called “Magnete”. They have absolutely every kind shape or thickness imaginable. Just wanted to mention it.
Regarding the silk. I have a textile background and I wanted to let you know that you were comparing two different types of silk. The “shiny” strip appeared to be a shantung silk, and the other appeared to be China silk. One is cultivated using “wild” words that have a more varied diet and living conditions. The other is cultivated using captive bred and raised worms. It has nothing to do with quality. Silk is a very diverse fabric, available in a wide variety of weaves, weights, and finishes. Some of the wild silks, such as noile have a rough surface and no shine at all. Yet, they are still high quality silk.
@@CoriDahmen No, thank you! I am a mixed media journalist and your videos have given me many ideas for my own work. I really appreciate your willingness to share and the time it takes to make these videos!
Wiping the glue on clothing is a very BAD idea. It will NOT wash out. An examples of this is Art Glitter Glue. This is experience speaking from a club/group I belong to. Keep a wet cloth or baby wipe close by. TFS.
Lol! I change into my “craft sweats” when I’m done teaching for the day, just so I can wipe my inky, gluey hands and not worry about ruining my clothes 😆
Wow! I've never seen a double belly band made into a flap over more pockets! So much hidden wonders 😍
Flipping and folding and trying new things always makes me happy... and sometimes produces interesting results!
Your tutorials are so easy to watch and learn and I will be watching whether it's 2 minutes or 2 hours. Thanks for sharing

Personally, I don't mind the longer videos. I learn so much more from you! For a beginner, I enjoy your tutorials. So thank you so much!

I have not seen the envelope bellyband technique before; such a clever technique!

I think we should pity the person who has nothing better to do than criticise. Let them move on.
Exactly! Whenever I see a “thumbsdown” I think “What a saddo! What a negative person!”
Thank you, I love this series.. I also make junk journals and this is great.
Me too, loving this series!! 😘
Thank you very much you do a good job if long or short

I use pastry bags and such, but rarely use lunch bag types. That was a “thing” in scrapbooking a while back and I got burnt out on it 🙃
The belly band from envelopes is such a good idea. Shame as I just got busy and put a load of stuck down envelopes in the recycling bin only last week 😭
I generally use the adverts and junk mail. More will come!
Love your videos - love your style.
Soooo toll 😍😍😍
Cori, the short Q&A is helpful. Thanks!
You're welcome. I try to do them (when I remember) at the end of the video.
Thank you for another easy to follow and understand video! I am glad you went over the double sided paper clip as I realized I was confused and I didn't even know it!
QUESTION: Should I make one of each of these so I can put them in a book with you at the end like you suggested? Is that kind of what we are going for?
Yes! The last few videos in this series will be making the book and putting the pieces inside it.
I am enjoying this series so much! Did I hear you say that you are from the Pacific Northwest? Me too! I can't wait to make today's scrap busters.
Binge watching can see your video you are my top person and my grandson is named Cory
Thank you and great name 😊

Could also use double sided tape but cut corners for the top. But I'm paranoid about glue smear!
If glue smear is a concern, maybe try a glue that dries clear and matte? Tim Holtz makes one, as do others.
1st - love your videos. 2nd - re: ink vs oxide. in your example, are those the same colors? Looks like two totally different colors.
Same exact colors!
I like using tickets for my hidden paper clips
💜
Enjoy the series. You explain everything so well
What is that scraper. I kno you mentioned in a previous video but I don’t think you said where to get one
Thank you
I use an Eddie Bauer ice scraper. It’s super sturdy and it was $1.50.
Thank you
Hi Cori very information video. But. Please can you tell us where you got that wooden holder that holds your ink pad and dabber
Thank you! I make those and sell them in my shop; Etsy. Com/shop/CreatingWithScraps
I’m “closed” for a bit, but will soon have more!
Where do you get the small flower die cuts you use? I have been looking for some and can’t find any. Thanks!🥰
Most of the ones I use are Tim Holtz/Sizzix dies. There are both smaller and larger sizes. I also got three individual flower dies from Simon Says Stamps.
