A great performance from an old lady. Anyone who subscribes to your channel will know there are new machines that haven't performed as well as this. Maintenance of this vacuum is also simple and quick, unlike on a lot of modern machines where you need a set of Torx bits and a degree in engineering just to remove the base plate.
nice jumper Roger, and a great old hoover as well. I brought that brand new when I started working. hope my idol lasts as long as that. I never use it so should do. 🙄.
Just goes to show new isn't always better. I don't know why Kirby didn't come out with this type of tool attachment. It appears so much easier to use than taking the front off the vacuum, and so easy to take the base plate off and change the belt. Some vacuums really require some effort to change the belt. Hoover knew what quality was and it is really sad to see what Hoover has become. I hope the Hoover family are happy they sold their legacy to the Chinese and now the machines that carry their name aren't worth the lettering.
It would need to be a mechanism that seeks and diverts the air from behind the inlet at the fan housing and somehow also lift the head up from the ground.
Removing the front of a Kirby for attachments only takes a few seconds, not very hard at all. The Kirby does more than just vacuum though, it has a shampoo attachment, and several other attachments that aren't for vacuuming, at least the old Kirby Classic 3 my grandparents had did other stuff...I know it had a grinding wheel attachment I assume for sharpening household knives, scissors, etc. Not sure how some of the attachments worked as it had a spray gun attachment you could use to paint with, but most didn't find very good results in them. The way the Kirby is designed there's no solution other than pulling the floor nozzle and brush roll off and hooking up the hose.
The reason is because the Kirby attachments actually work very well unlike the uselessness of Hoover and Eurekas designs back then. The time and effort it takes to convert the Kirby is well worth it vs. the ease converting the other brands and they give you very poor suction!
Yes you're right. It looked OK when I did it, but I was viewing it from the other side. It's amazing that it performed so well with the belt on wrong. I always thought that the belt would come off if you put it on wrong as it does with the Hoover Junior.
I saw that, I thought maybe being on the other side made you turn it the other direction but seemed fairly unaffected by it. They sure don't build them like they used to, which may not be the worst thing in some cases but those older machines were very robust. Very cool to see the older technology, makes me appreciate the advances we've made!
Congratulations Roger on 25k subscribers. I think you were at 9k when I joined. I know it may not seem like a lot compared to some channels but your videos are directed to a very specific and rare viewer. 25k is something to celebrate!!!

Your Idol will last as long providing you never open it and keep it in a cool dark place.
I think that if you look for a Hoover aluminum wand in your garage you'll have solve the bare floor cleaning tool issue. Beautiful machine.
Great Vac I have one. When using the floor brush put bent wand to brush and then no bending
You need to turn the wands to use the floor brush. Have the same machine
To vac the floor you put the handle into the floor tool and then the wand into the hose.
Thank you Roger,
made to last and the 612.👍🏼
Hi:))
The hood styling reminds me of the old late 80s Singer twin fan I had as a boy! Lovely machine, lad!
Hello Roger I have the same hoover 612 with cleaning tools
I bought off eBay about 6 years ago !
This was the finest hoover model ever built , even far superior than the American Kirbys.
Nice video roger, glad to see the bag of filth is back in action, loving the advent series, hope it doesn't drain the to much. Take it easy
simple design yet built to last works amazing to
I have the same Hoover belonged to my gran, build quality is solid yes and still working
Happy to see the 612 again 👍🏻👍🏻
I think if you switch the wands around and then attach the floor tool it would work better 😊
yes i had one of these u put the straight wand first then the angled one the other way round then the brush...
Hi Roger how are u ok there u do a relly good job on UA-cam keep up there good work on UA-cam hove a good day mate form greg Bouchard

I keep saying that myself.

Did you connect the belt the right way? This was how mum did it and I used to correct the polarity so that it brushed towards the motor.
Now my son just asked for a bag of filth for Christmas, hopefully he won't say that to anyone else😂
I hope you give him one.

Where do you keep you vacuums from zach and Amy and todd
Your advent series is great for the waist. Lol!
I still have my parents old Hoover 912a.
Its a good vacuum but at 15kg its a workout using it.
Amazing how quiet it is
Your awesome my friend love love love your videos
Thanks.🙂
Are you sure you put the belt on the right way, it seemed opposite to the diagram to me ...
Yes you're right. It looked OK when I did it, but I was viewing it from the other side. It's amazing that it performed so well with the belt on wrong. I always thought that the belt would come off if you put it on wrong as it does with the Hoover Junior.

Yeah right, I wanted to comment on that, too!
It will perform well even on wrong, but it would be harder moving the vacuum over the carpet.
@@ibaisaicfantastic thanks Roger great video. I'm in the throws of buying one of these in a few weeks after isolation. It looks to do a great job.
I thought you would never use the 612 in a video again. You finally test this old beast! noice
Oh no , you put the belt on the wrong way

Yes, I am very surprised that my little niche channel is popular, but I am still striving for that elusive 100,000 subscribers.

I’ve still got one of these and it works great. I e fitted it with a hepa bag. Still better than a dyson 😁
Definitely.
How did you fit a HEPA bag?
@@heeheeriah I used a Henry hoover bag it was a push fit and it works just fine.
Other bags are compatible as long as the hose fits snug in the bag.
I put that same bulb on my grandmother Hoover model 62
Off topic but you should do a video on a royal metal
You can't easily get them in the UK I'm afraid.
do you sell any of you hoovers?
and do you know where I can get my hands on a blue hoover junior dirtsearcher in Canada?
