To my mind, one of the best looking Hoover uprights of the mid 20th century. I remember Hoovering with my 'auntyDot's' ( no relation, just a lady who lived nearby) when I was a child. Sadly I've never owned this particular model. I've often dreamed of finding two of the Bakelite hoods and converting them into bedside lamps
Hey Sam excellent video as always. When I was a kid back in the 80s we used to go the royal Victoria hotel in Hastings ( all to do with family ) it’s a huge hotel and they used to have loads of these with hoover commercial bags on and they were the only vacuums the cleaners used to do the rooms both bars and both restaurants. I remember using these and vacuuming the bars in the mornings They are like tanks. There were a few places I remember that used these as a commercial vacuum. Lol mines hiding away in the wardrobe. Really should pull it out and sort it lol. Regards from a very storm battered but sunny Eastbourne xx
Great visual refurb but that vacuum needs a set of bearings my parents had one of these cleaners and it was very quite and smooth sounds very rough now
This model has always been my favorite Hoover! My father bought one of the for 4 dollars back in the mid '80's from an estate sale in Toronto. He used it for years for cleaning offices when he had his business, but I don't remember our 612 being nearly as loud as the one you're featuring in this video. The motor in your 612 in this video sounds harsh and a bit "buzzy" to MY ear. Have you checked up on the carbon brushes and given her a lube job??

That's a lovely memory to have! I must be younger than you because all I remember are old Numatics everywhere, or old Sebo's for larger areas!
My Mother also had one of these 612 and I as a child watched and use it. A great Vacuum
What a fantastic job Sam i can`t believe how good the paint came up on it.
Great job you did of the refurbishment. Well done Sam
Got one myself love it. Never owned one before but it is the best.
