  • In this week's episode of the Marathon Handbook Podcast, our editors Alex, Katelyn and Michael break down the Jakob Ingrebrestin vs. Josh Kerr rivalry, which is the most hyped track and field beef in generations, and how it will come to a head at this summer's Paris Olympic Games. Then, they explain a controversy brewing in the ultrarunning world triggered by a gel company and claims that its product is "fraudulent." Finally, they break down how to run safely and successfully in the heat.
Hosts: Alex Cyr, Michael Doyle and Katelyn Tocci

Very interesting video. Regarding the Gels. My friend will not go on a run without it. Mental dependency because of the marketing. So I got him for €40 the Libre 2 CGM. To cut a long story short.. His blood sugar goes up in a first 20 minute or so. Stays elevated for the first 2 hours then drops slowly down to normal level by the end of the run. He started eating a Gummy bear for 5 cents each before the run and a few along the way for fun.. No more expensive gels. Spoke to a trainer who said that for any run upto 2 hours no gels needed.

Can't say i'm a fan of the beef - kinda like runners as it's away from this type of nonesense - but Kerr is benefiting from it - the silly comments he's receiving gives him more publicity.
