That’s how I felt. I have been running off of ivy bridge since 2013. Now there’s pcie gen 4/5, nvme drives, ddr4/5, gpu’s are 4x the price I last paid (which was in 2020 for an rx 580). It’s all easily understandable but it was more “work” for me to look up what to go with. I eventually said screw it and just got the most I could afford with alder lake. I’m glad I did since my soon to be server, ivy bridge rig just kicked the bucket like a week after I built my new rig. Guess I’ll just have to build a nas server now. Not too bad I guess lol.

We learned a lot from it, without wasting money on expensive new equipment. I'm now an embedded engineer and of my other friends is a SysAdmin... It was technically not allowed to take stuff from the garbage collecting facility, which made it only more exciting to us. One person was our lookout, while the others where scavenging parts... We occasionally had to flee when an employee noticed us. We trying to cycle away on our bicycles without falling, while holding a desktop in our arms... One of the employees had a big walrus mustache, he followed us for two blocks before giving up... The memories :-) ... It's sad that they installed cameras now, it only blocks young people from tinkering...

Specs don't matter if it's Dell. Literally *any* GPU and CPU chips they could possibly put inside will be so severely hampered by bad cooling and weak VRMs that they'll all perform just as poor at the end

It's now my degree and my job and I wouldn't have it any other way. Being creative with tech is just the best thing in life.

I love how he says he's running an "old" dell with i5-8400... For fun I am using an old dell inspiron E1505 laptop from 2006 w/ intel 2x T2300 @1.66GHz and 2GB RAM running Lubuntu 18.04.6 LTS 32bit. But he is definitely more advanced in his projects and knowledge.
Tucker was super nervous and he still managed to crack wise with Linus and crew. That's the sign of talent right there. I second all the folks calling for him to be an intern with LMG. Tech isn't just about gaming or data science; it's about all industries, and the maker community really needs more representation.
Plus, if he really wants to go deep into making and 3D modeling, LMG has lots of 3D printers of various materials as well as machining tools. So much potential for greatness and carnage all wrapped up into one workspace.

I'm just here to mention, that "Würth electronic" from Germany made the whole screwdriver with all its caviats back in 2008 - and did a patient on it. And this is the struggle, they're facing. BTW: I've got one of the Würth one.
Not before Nexus Gaming saves the kid before the transfer can be complete and train him to finally defeat his father in the climatic battle in the third movie.
But it's lacking for comfortable content creation and 3D modelling. He said one stick was more impressive that his whole setup, so he probably has 8 or at most 12GB RAM. This kid will have a powerhouse for years and years to come. It will most probably last for all the rest of his school and college days
Linus, I just upgraded from a 1070, I7-7700k and 16GB ram. Now, my current build is this: RTX 3070, I9-10900k and 32GB RAM. I keep watching these videos, I love them so much! I think it’s really fun watching people build PC’s, especially for the first time. I’ve never built one before, and if it suddenly happened I don’t think I’d be super ready, but I’ve been learning a bit and I hope one day I’ll be able to!
Get 'em started young! lol I got my nephew hooked on Skyrim a few years ago when he was 8 and he bought an X1 a few weeks later with money he saved up. Now that he's 13 I'm planning on introducing him to the hardware side of things. Recently built a new PC so I'm gonna do a teardown and rebuild of my old one with him so he can experience that and hopefully connect with him over tech some more. My uncle used to build his own PCs but he stopped doing that in the mid 2000s and then switched to PS4 and PS5 since they could use M/Kb input more easily. So he knows tech to a good degree but he's not up on current stuff at all for PCs, mainly just phone and console hardware.

I dunno, linus trying to make a kid look stupid isn't a real good look. Hiding parts and trying to make the kid look dumb for not instantly finding them. Mocking the kid for not peeling the stuff off just right, but then linus himself literally dropping fans on the floor. Then gets really defensive when the kid actually stands up for himself and points out that linus was literally bending all the parts trying to man handle the video card in. Feel like Linus is using his money and access to computer parts, and minor celebrity, to wield power over this teenager in a way that is designed to make linus feel good about himself. He behaves this way most of the time in his videos, making stupid comments to the camera like he is the smartest person in the room, but I assumed this was just playful banter with his friends he works with. But watching this video made it clear that his normal behavior isn't reserved for his friends he normal works with, but is actually just his personality. He kind of seems like a nightmare to work for. Not really sure I'm going to be supporting any more of his videos.

My pc is Intel core 2duo e7500 2.93ghz which is like 12 years old and GeForce gt710 kinda decent graphics card and 2gb of Ram so my pc is Nokia but with a keyboard and mouse
To be fair, I think this is a creative work first, gaming second build (Most of the parts are more ProArt than ROG) - The monitor is 1440p and given that it's ProArt, I'd bet it's colour calibrated and works much better for Tucker, given his 3D modelling & video editing work. Plus, he came from a DVD player screen so I'm sure this is really nice for him, if he needs to upgrade he can always get a second monitor!
From what he said on his entry he likes to do creative stuff. You notice that each of these ROG builds uses different parts for a different stereotype of user. This would be the creator user. Where you care more about color accuracy then refresh rate.
Shout out to Linus TT for giving this young man who has a talent and thirst for knowledge about tech innovations an upgrade. I can tell dad was at the LTT office to make sure he was safe, that means there’s a lot of love in that family. And the fact that he doesn’t have a newer computer to experiment on either means that his family is either impoverished or saving every dime they have in order not to be. Linus is doing the world a favor by putting capable equipment in the hands of people who will use it for something other than owning noobs in halo infinite. I too would be confused by Intel's box for their CPU.... SO MUCH unnecessary packaging. Environment is going to shit and intel over there be like "Lets package our little CPU into a box thats almost as big as the mainboard!" Did they take example of Amazon or what?
So, I'm not defending intel because they could've continued with the old sized boxes(10600k was appropriate imo) but there's a reason why the cpu boxes are so big. First is basically bigger box-easier to look at in stores. Secondly, it is to combat theft. If the bix was just a bit bigger than the cpu then it would've been a very attractive item for shoplifting. But now they can't just slip that big if a box into their pockets
there are sometimes when pc decides to start dying and there is nothing to fix. Has happened to me. For example one time i closed a browser which made my pc completely shut off... for no reason whatsoever.
@@generolas121 but I mean there's a lot of diagnostic steps you could take. Reinstalling or trying another OS, looking at the temps and touching the heatsink to know if you need to replace the thermal paste, testing the psu (either with a multimeter or with a psu tester), etc
Omg finaly i see a video where they kinda show the toolless m.2 "skrev". I was innstalling a third m.2 in my custom loop computer, and was hesitent to not get in there with the screwdriver without draing the loop an removing some tubes, then i found the toolless holder and i was shook for 4 hours straight
I was this kid growing up in the south, so noone ever fostered my interests in tech at all. I'm so glad we live in the day and age that that should never be an issue for future generations.

I dunno, linus trying to make a kid look stupid isn't a real good look. Hiding parts and trying to make the kid look dumb for not instantly finding them. Mocking the kid for not peeling the stuff off just right, but then linus himself literally dropping fans on the floor. Then gets really defensive when the kid actually stands up for himself and points out that linus was literally bending all the parts trying to man handle the video card in. Feel like Linus is using his money and access to computer parts, and minor celebrity, to wield power over this teenager in a way that is designed to make linus feel good about himself. He behaves this way most of the time in his videos, making stupid comments to the camera like he is the smartest person in the room, but I assumed this was just playful banter with his friends he works with. But watching this video made it clear that his normal behavior isn't reserved for his friends he normal works with, but is actually just his personality. He kind of seems like a nightmare to work for. Not really sure I'm going to be supporting any more of his videos.
God damn I'm jealous, not because he gets a new PC, just that he gets a 30 series GPU.

My pc is Intel core 2duo e7500 2.93ghz which is like 12 years old and GeForce gt710 kinda decent graphics card and 2gb of Ram so my pc is Nokia but with a keyboard and mouse

I still think its so cool how he built a pc from an old laptop an a old dvd player, definitely one of my favorite entry's. I knew he would win!
Now this is a kid who genuinely deserves this.

I feel like a 75 hz monitor is low for this build
To be fair, I think this is a creative work first, gaming second build (Most of the parts are more ProArt than ROG) - The monitor is 1440p and given that it's ProArt, I'd bet it's colour calibrated and works much better for Tucker, given his 3D modelling & video editing work. Plus, he came from a DVD player screen so I'm sure this is really nice for him, if he needs to upgrade he can always get a second monitor!

From what he said on his entry he likes to do creative stuff. You notice that each of these ROG builds uses different parts for a different stereotype of user.
This would be the creator user. Where you care more about color accuracy then refresh rate.
It fits his needs for video creating and 3D modelling. 144Hz ain't going to help you look at those 3D blocks clearer. Color accuracy can.

Shout out to Linus TT for giving this young man who has a talent and thirst for knowledge about tech innovations an upgrade. I can tell dad was at the LTT office to make sure he was safe, that means there’s a lot of love in that family. And the fact that he doesn’t have a newer computer to experiment on either means that his family is either impoverished or saving every dime they have in order not to be. Linus is doing the world a favor by putting capable equipment in the hands of people who will use it for something other than owning noobs in halo infinite. With that being said, I’m going to go que up…

I too would be confused by Intel's box for their CPU.... SO MUCH unnecessary packaging. Environment is going to shit and intel over there be like "Lets package our little CPU into a box thats almost as big as the mainboard!" Did they take example of Amazon or what?
So, I'm not defending intel because they could've continued with the old sized boxes(10600k was appropriate imo) but there's a reason why the cpu boxes are so big. First is basically bigger box-easier to look at in stores. Secondly, it is to combat theft. If the bix was just a bit bigger than the cpu then it would've been a very attractive item for shoplifting. But now they can't just slip that big if a box into their pockets

there are sometimes when pc decides to start dying and there is nothing to fix. Has happened to me. For example one time i closed a browser which made my pc completely shut off... for no reason whatsoever.
@@generolas121 but I mean there's a lot of diagnostic steps you could take.
Reinstalling or trying another OS, looking at the temps and touching the heatsink to know if you need to replace the thermal paste, testing the psu (either with a multimeter or with a psu tester), etc

Omg finaly i see a video where they kinda show the toolless m.2 "skrev". I was innstalling a third m.2 in my custom loop computer, and was hesitent to not get in there with the screwdriver without draing the loop an removing some tubes, then i found the toolless holder and i was shook for 4 hours straight

I was this kid growing up in the south, so noone ever fostered my interests in tech at all. I'm so glad we live in the day and age that that should never be an issue for future generations.
I never know how these people getting a free expensive pc can contain their excitement so easily
