The “please plug in the Wii Speak accessory” part is so simple but so haunting. Something about how direct it is and how off putting the gradient makes it feel so threatening
A few days ago I tried to update my Wii just because why not and it told me that if there is unauthorized software, the console would self brick, but it actually gives you the possibility to shut it off. The message straight up said to "press down the power button for 4 seconds if you don't want to update the console."
3:58 imagine you just got this wii from gamestop or something and it came with 2 games and the wii speak accessory, you get home and play your first game of mario kart, then freezes at the end of the third lap. You go through the antipiracy mesures, even though you know that you just bought the bundle from gamestop, then you get to this part, and you dont know why they want you to plug in the accessory, but you do it anyways, then you get on the line with the police. Now your freaking out, you dont want to talk to the police and turn yourself in for something you didnt do. So you tell the police that you just bought this wii from gamestop and now its saying its pirated. They let you off the phone and the wii crashed. You reboot it and as soon as you open the wii menu, it says system files are corrupted, so now you have to drive back to gamestop and return the wii stuff and go back home without a wii.

This is very good, the only flaws (in my opinion) are the freeze frame at the start, and the "turn off the consle". (R.I.P to people with no Wii Speak)
i think it wouldve been better if the anti-piracy measure started with like an actual error screen about the disc & then rebooting to the anti-piracy measurement
UK police would laugh in your face for it and hang up lmao, maximum take the console and pirated games, it's not enforced unless it's you who's distributing mass game files and/or ones that are deemed censored or confidential to the copyright holder.

fyi the wii output at 480i/480p so you should try to avoid small text
