Cracking. I've never managed to go down that. Been down the main road countless times. True story...I managed to get away with a speeding ticket going down the long hill from the Rest to the Cairndow turnoff. Got clocked at 103 in a Council Ford Fiesta van. The cops thought their radar was faulty and let me off. What they didn't know was that the van was the Council mechanic's van with an XR2i engine in it. They didn't look under the bonnet thankfully.
Brilliant Graham. When we were up there had been a landslide not long before but only a small one, so it had been cleared. Great to see all that traffic snaking its way down there. Great vid mate
I used to enjoy riding down the Rest and be Thankful usually heading for Inveraray but too many road closures and coming from the south much better to get the Gourock to Dunoon ferry. Nice video, that must be some wait on that road👍
A cracking wee road but terribly congested which for me would take the fun out of it. I suppose the one advantage is you've got plenty time to soak it all in, especially if it had been raining 😊
One to return to possibly on a quieter day? I've only ridden the main road once, last year when I was doing the Crieff Cloverleaf, but I must go back sometime. When passing through some of the glens in the Highlands, I often wonder how it was for people traveling a couple of hundred years ago... slow is probably the answer.
It's a just a big cover up mate, they're mining for gold in them hills & divert via the OMR when they're taking the lorries of gold out! 😉👍 I've never ridden that before, but every time I'm up at the rest & be thankfull,I admire it! 😎👍
Ace that you got to ride the Old Military Road officially... I may have had a few spins on it on the sly back when I was based up there. It is mad that they can't fix the main road.... has been landslides along it for decades, it always has had roadworks.
I was up there today! Was heading to Kilmartin on Harley, about 1 pm. A great quiet dry Sunday ..bliss ! Great footage I'd love a wee cruise down that
Yea it was something different for a change thanks.

lol brilliant. It’s very easy to get carried away in that road. I always wanted to go down that road just because you can’t normally.
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing....
Thanks for watching!

Yea agreed mate. Much better now on the ferry. I didn’t have to wait but I would think it would be about a 30 minute wait.
@@haggiswhisperer not everyone knows this but you get cheaper ferry tickets in the local Co-op than you do buying on board.
@SouthWest-jj8yu lol I didn’t know that and I live here haha

Agreed though unfortunately the main road is open again. Well at least until the next land slide lol.
That looks a cracking wee road, when there is less traffic. I think they should enclose the main road like some of the avalanche tunnels in the alps.
Agreed mate. They really need to get it sorted.

Yea it must have been hellish walking everywhere lol. Main road is back open now so that wee road is locked up again.

That actually makes sense lol. I bet that’s what’s happening.
@haggiswhisperer We just need some drone footage as proof mate! 🤣✌️
Think I really need to go back there for lunch soon! 😬👍
Roads open again so snack van will be back lol.
@@haggiswhisperer I just assumed it was gone by the time you came back, but I guess he's usually right in the middle of the re-route! 🤣👍
The roadworks had taken over the car park and put a barrier up so snack van wasn’t getting in.

Yea was good to get along it. Yea I don’t think they will ever fix it.
