As a hampshire bloke, i Love the new forest and its history...also the spooky tales of witchcraft ect....really great video :)
Thank you!
I recall enjoying the Queens Head pub in Burley in my late teens and also driving along a dark country lane nearby where there was a spot witches met. Now l am living in sub tropical Brisbane, Australia and miss the forest and the seasons. Looking forward to visiting there again this October autumn. Thank you for reactivating those fond memories .
The Knight was called Sir Bevois of Hamtun. There is a part of Southampton named after him, Bevois Valley. Thanks for another lovely video.
Interesting video. I'm originally from Ringwood as well. I really miss the changing seasons in the many beautiful trees in the new forest.
Thank you for taking us along this lovely adventure
Thank you for taking the time to watch!
Lovely video. I first went to Burley in 1976 as part of our summer hols. My parents bought a witch on a broomstick (still has it). Roll forward to 2002 I went to the same shop to purchase a 2002 version of the same witch though not as nice! Have been several times since.
Many thanks for your walk and talk it was great we might not get this in our 15 minute cities for 99.9 percent of us
Hi i come here, quite a bit .ive seen her house and my friend knew her in person xx
Great video!
Thank you for watching!
Been binge watching your video's and heard you mention Sybil Leek. I heard of her because of her work with Hans Holzer. He was one of the early Paranormal Investigator/Ghost Hunter. I have many of his books.
Thanks so much for watching my videos! Sybil was an incredibly interesting woman.
A lovely part of the New Forest to walk and cycle
Quite agree! Probably my favourite part of the forest.
One of my favs in the New Forest, didn't know the story of the witch , brilliant video.
Thank you! It's a beautiful part of the area.
Interesting video . Thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching!
Great video! I'm a few villages over and absolute adore this neck of the woods
Glad you enjoyed it! It's a beautiful area.
Love a witchy town or village and love those knarly twisted trees. You mentioned Ringwood...I feel sure there's a old brewery there if its the same place I'm thinking of. In my fantasy mind I'll always like to believe there was a dragon there. Great job Nic 👏🏻
You're quite right, Ringwood brewery will probably be what you're thinking of. Sadly, they were put up for sale earlier this year.
@@walkingthewyrd 😭 the world needs beer, when will they ever learn not to close the places that make it.
Who’s here after watching Dave 😂 .. nice
Yay! Welcome! 😄
I used to stay there every Halloween week at the Burley Inn. Will be returning this year. It's a very relaxing place. I'm sure I'd heard of the Dragon a long time ago but didn't relate it to Burley.
Lovely video!! I live near Burley and you’ve caught the atmosphere very well. The woods are extraordinarily beautiful. Well done!!
Thanks so much for your kind comment! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Burley is a very special place!
Another great walk. Lovely village. Cycled through many times.
Would be good to walk round it though. Great to see local walks.
I was going to mention Bolton’s Bench 😂
Have you ever been to St Katherine’s Hill, Ramsdown enclosure or hengistbury head?
Recommend all 3. Not sure about the folklore though.
I've been to Hengistbury Head but not the other two. I'll definitely look into them. Thanks!
beautiful village and surroundings.
I had never heard of Sybil Leak, only from Rhiannon, written by Stevie Nicks in 1976. She was inspired for the song after reading the book "Triad" which is about a Welsh witch named Rhiannon.
The very beautiful woman Stevie singing the praises of the other beautiful woman Rhiannon. 👍❤🎼🎵🎶
Yes! Love Fleetwood Mac and that song. Burley is a fascinating little village with a really mystical feel to it.
How beautiful! I can't wait to visit soon ❤
It's a truly wonderful place and I'm sure you'll love your visit! Enjoy!
Hi, what was the name of those steps you crossed over at 6:48 thanks!
Hey! That's called a stile.
