As Hurricane Ian swept through, it acted as a catalyst for an extraordinary shift in the natural rhythms of the ocean. The strong winds and cooler temperatures triggered the annual fall migrations and spawn, igniting a spectacle of marine life along the coast of Miami.
One of the most remarkable phenomena spurred by the hurricane is the start of the mullet run, which is said to be the best in over a decade. Mullet, traveling in vast schools, embark on their migratory journey, attracting a frenzy of predators eager to capitalize on this abundance of prey.
Offshore, another incredible spectacle unfolds as baby flying fish, affectionately known as "Gum Drops," gather in massive shoals along the edge. These tiny creatures, propelled by instinct and the tumultuous forces of the hurricane, become unwitting participants in an epic battle for survival as pelagic predators hunt them relentlessly.
Captain Mike and Luis, seasoned anglers with a deep love for the ocean and its inhabitants, seize the opportunity to witness this extraordinary event firsthand. With anticipation coursing through their veins, they embark on a journey offshore, determined to immerse themselves in the midst of this unparalleled fishing action.
As their boat cuts through the waves, they scan the horizon for any signs of activity, their senses heightened with the promise of what lies ahead. Suddenly, they spot the telltale signs of feeding frenzies: birds circling overhead, and the surface of the water erupting with splashes and thrashing fish.
With precision and skill honed over years of experience, Captain Mike and Luis cast their lines into the chaos, joining the fray with a sense of exhilaration and determination. The reels scream as powerful pelagic species, drawn by the abundance of prey, attack their lures with ferocity.
In a whirlwind of action, they reel in mahi-mahi, tuna, sailfish, and kingfish, their adrenaline pumping as they battle these magnificent creatures against the backdrop of the open ocean. Each catch is a testament to the raw power and beauty of nature, a reminder of the fragile balance that exists within the marine ecosystem.
As the day draws to a close and the sun dips below the horizon, Captain Mike and Luis reflect on the incredible experience they've had. It's a day they'll never forget, a moment in time when they were witness to the awe-inspiring spectacle of Mother Nature in all her glory. And as they steer the boat back to shore, they carry with them memories that will last a lifetime, and a renewed appreciation for the wonders of the ocean.

Great to see you posting again! Great trip
Solid work brother!!! Love when the fishing is hot like that right out front, its been awhile!!!
Love this style video, one of your best fishing vids.
I appreciate that!
Coming back to Stuart this month, after an great fishing season in Connecticut on the Long Island sound, Blues and striper, but can’t wait to get out for the Mahi!! Kudos bro! Great bite..!!
Good to see you making a new video. Even though I do not live near the ocean I love your video because not only do you fish you teach how to tie knots and other things that I can use. Your the only saltwater guy I follow.
Thanks!
Great job Cap!!!
Freaking awesome training video! I grew up with fishermen that I now realize didn't have a clue. I just got a big enough boat to put in the salt and start applying what you teach.
Been too long! This was a great video, hope you will start making more of them
For the same price you can buy a KastKing Kapstan elite 5000 that's 100% waterproof, and has 40lbs of drag instead of 25lbs. I love mine. I've had it a month and it's landed black tips, 38 and 42 inch red fish in Texas, and now tarpon, Jack crevalle, and hopefully a snook tomorrow or Friday here in marathon Florida.
That was an insane bite!! Awesome
Yes it was! This was all in about an hour too.
Yup after you get some groceries 😋 it's all fun with catch and release 👍
Nice bite to stumble across! That slow-mo of the bait at the end with the sad music playing as they got tossed in and eaten had me feeling a little sorry for them, ha
Great video I just subscribed and hope you keep making the videos. Keep them coming over the rail, Captain Mike, from another Captain Mike, but now in a dry state of Nevada.
You say Dolphin/Mahi-mahi… I say Dorado… we say great day of fishing!
My man
October was an amazing month of dolphin fishing out of Miami/Fort Lauderdale . I caught the most gaffers I’ve ever caught in Fort Lauderdale.
good vid!
Hola Capi, did you use white braid to camouflage on the sky clouds etc?
Awesome 👍!
You coming out of haulover? What time of the day was this? Bro I got a 2300HPS like 6 months ago and I'm dying to get some mahi or tuna on. I've had zero luck.
YEEHAA!!
What kind of live bait?
Do you guys try keeping a small Mahi that was caught online, next to the boat ? Great video BTW.
Sometimes we keep one in the water to keep the others around.
I’m in Sebastian Florida where is this at we have the flying fish 1/2 off shore right now

Hello
🫡smart man throws little fish in
Create the bite
I’d like to know why you use a fish bag in a fish box? Why not only use the fish box? I seriously don’t know.
The fish bag keeps ice better and easy to transport to the filet station. Also, keep the fish box clean.
@@ReelReports okay I think I might adopt that idea. Thanks!
So you cought and ate all these fish? I did not see one release.
Look up Ike Jime... please bleed out your fish before you ice it down, it makes for a much better fish!! Tight Lines!!
