My buddy just designed, 3D printed, and painted an interior with driver for his C10. It came out awesome! He's now working on making it fit better. I suggested he sell them on ebay or etsy and he's looking into how much trouble that would be. He has the C10 and Jeep. I had him give me a ride to AMain last week and planned to buy the light green 67 Chevy, but the only 1/24th vehicles they had in stock was two Enduro24's, so I bought one. Awesome review I can't wait to get my hands on one. But there are no shops that have them here. I would gladly buy your deadbolt from ya Matt if you want to sell haha.
I usually sit mine on its lid and turn full left and hit the throttle. Then full right and hit the throttle. I will adjust the dual rate knob to get as much steering as possible without binding in the drive cups at the axles. You can usually hear if it’s binding or you can kinda look to see if the dog bone is sort of catching as it turns. If you turn it all the way up usually it’s gonna bind. So you kinda have to adjust it by watching it. You can also glue the stock servo saver together for better performance out of the stock servo. I do that on any of the stock servos I plan to run at all.
Yeah I’m not sure why not many companies had jumped on magnets mounts or at least Velcro like the Redcat Gen 8 comes with. That’s one of the 1st things I do to all of my RCs 😆
Hearing ya brother- we have 5 scx 24s in my household, I converted them all to magnets, I’m a former Marine with stereotypical fingers and thumbs so pissing around with tiny clips constantly to change batts was as hideous- it also scratches the bonnet to shit! Love every one of them but utterly frustrated with both this issue and the fact that if you use the included charger you could at best kill the battery and at worst burn yer house down maybe worse! The only reason I know any different is because of watching rc vids online in my early days but MANY kids would have been bought these by unknowing parents especially considering most have been bought online due to the plandemic & therefore wouldn’t have advice from the retailer 🤦🏻♂️ I’d hate to loose Axail due to a law suit but I’m sure that’s all covered in small print on the box etc 🤷♂️ either way it leaves a foul taste in the mouth
It’s card board boxes etc sprayed with spray foam, sprinkled with a light coat of grout and wetted enough to help it set up. Spray paint and more grout then a coat of clear flex seal over top to seal it a bit. I have a video on the channel of building it if you wanna check it out. It’s one of my earlier vids but it shows basically what I did. It’s held up really well.
thanks for the review. I want to by my young son a crawler. I want it to literally go as slow as possible so he can learn to control it. Can you recommend a 1/24 or 1/18th, lower end of budget, that might be best suited stock?
Really it’s hard to recommend anything but these scx24s because they are by far the best at this scale. You could probably get an RGT or element a bit cheaper but in the long run I feel like it’s worth the extra $20-40 to just get the scx24.
Yeah... I'm just getting into this mini crawler thing. The one that really got my attention was the Mini Z with tthe 4Runnert body. It seemed to work better than this one, but then I saw the price... it is almost twice than this one :(
@@MelbourneExclusive0 yep, using AAA batteries it a big NO NO in the hobby world. It’s ok when they use them for transmitters, but I will NEVER buy a vehicle that requires AAA batteries. They are only good enough for an occasional use toy. Not good enough for a serious rc or long term use

jason smith sr rc fun the emax servo is great for the money. It mounts straight to the stock mount using the longer screws that come with it or fits much better with the emax servo mount from hot racing. I like the savox sh-0350. I pay more for the reliability, because ive had several emax crapout on the trail. Also has more power, and with all my upgrades (weight), and larger tires with wideners (Scramblers and brass), the power of the savox sh-0350 makes the difference for me. It doesnt have metal gears, but composite are plenty strong. And digital is a must for me. So all in all, a win win win at 24bucks.
If wanting to stay fairly cheap you can’t beat the emax es08md. Next would be the savox 0255 at the mid price range and if you just want the best all around I’d go reefs 99. It’s a beast but a little pricey!
Jeez, expected way better out of the box for $140. Garbo servo, bad tires, crap ESC? They might as well sell a Kit version with no electronics. I think the WPL-c24-1 seems like a way better buy, sure, it comes with the same issues, but it's bigger and half the price, and if you gotta upgrade anyways....eh. Could almost get a RTR 1/10 for what you'd end up spending on this lil guy with all the mods to make it drive like a crawler.
The motor will fail very quickly. Got an identical replacement motor. I totally remove the sticker cuz the sticker causes the motor to overheat. The new motor has been working fine for several months now. The other problem is the shocks are too weak causing wheel rub on the body. I added 1/8 inch preload to each shock by installing little rubber O-rings on the top between the spring and the shock body. I love this truck but I wonder why? The motor is a piece of shit with the sticker on it cuz it will overheat and fail, the shocks are worthless without adding preload. The charger is comes with is worthless and will destroy the battery. But I still love this truck anyway? Reminds me of being in lust with a woman.

The break over angle is a big issue with my c10
Awesome review I can't wait to get my hands on one. But there are no shops that have them here. I would gladly buy your deadbolt from ya Matt if you want to sell haha.
They’re finally back in stock on Amazon. I’ve been waiting for awhile as well

Is the wheel base of the stock Jeep the same as the stock Chevy ?
Has anyone tried to take the foams out of the stock tires to get more traction?
Stock tires don’t actually have foams. They are just harder rubber that’s vented
@@2fmrc see, i was certain they did, the way it ups the weight
Just curious, do you have the servo power turned up all of the way on radio?
I usually sit mine on its lid and turn full left and hit the throttle. Then full right and hit the throttle. I will adjust the dual rate knob to get as much steering as possible without binding in the drive cups at the axles. You can usually hear if it’s binding or you can kinda look to see if the dog bone is sort of catching as it turns. If you turn it all the way up usually it’s gonna bind. So you kinda have to adjust it by watching it. You can also glue the stock servo saver together for better performance out of the stock servo. I do that on any of the stock servos I plan to run at all.
thanks man can you tell me how you hooked up your gt5 to the scx24?
Honestly, the cost cutting measure of not having a clip-less body mounting system grosses me out.
Cheap looking
Very cool truck and coarse. How did you make the rock coarse, foam or concrete? Looks awesome.
You could try the Enduro 24 Sendero Trail Truck. Bit cheaper than the SCX 24.
Seems it’s a clearance issue underneath as apposed to the nittos look to be taller IDK. Cool truck
Find an RC that is perfect out of the box and it will be to expensive to purchase LOL
Yeah... I'm just getting into this mini crawler thing. The one that really got my attention was the Mini Z with tthe 4Runnert body. It seemed to work better than this one, but then I saw the price... it is almost twice than this one :(
@@sgecko7 plus the AAA killed it for me :/
@@MelbourneExclusive0 yep, using AAA batteries it a big NO NO in the hobby world. It’s ok when they use them for transmitters, but I will NEVER buy a vehicle that requires AAA batteries. They are only good enough for an occasional use toy. Not good enough for a serious rc or long term use
@@MrMrsregor I ended up grabbing a c10 scx24
What esc do you use and do you have a web site
jason smith sr rc fun running stock esc on this truck. I really like the castle sidewinder micro 2 esc though. It works great with brushed or brushless so you can use it with the stock motor, barrage motor or even the Holmes revolver that I have in my other rig which is brushless.
Would 1.9 tires work on this or the deadbolt or are they too big
No they are way too big. 1.0 is the wheel size for these.
@@2fmrc thanks! I figured
what’s the wheel/tire combo on the deadbolt?
I have a spectrum sx107 servo will that work?
Awesome video thanks for sharing brother
Thanks for watching & commenting!
Nice work on the Deadbolt. Any interest in selling your modified Deadbolt? I'm not really into doing the mods myself, better for me to buy one already modded out. If you are interested in selling, or want to mod a Deadbolt for me, maybe we can work out a deal.
I rarely ever sell any rigs. I definitely won’t be getting rid of any of scx24s for awhile. I could totally build one if you wanted to tell me what all you wanted or send it all as a kit or something lol
@@2fmrc ... basically all the best mods you have done on the deadbolt platform in red. Servo, shocks, some weight, motor change if you think it needs it, etc. maybe spec out a new one for me with all the mods you do, total price. That would be cool, thanks
@@2fmrc ... I think an exact duplicate of your red deadbolt in this video would be what I'm looking for. I can tell it operates far better from stock just in the little bit you ran it.
@@tewksburydriver8624 the only main issue is the motor that’s in it is a brushless setup and they’ve discontinued that motor now. I’m hoping there will be another brushless setup available soon. There’s a new company working on a brushless system that bolts up easier and I’m hoping to get one of their first runs of it to test. Haven’t heard a release on it though.
@@2fmrc ... ok, let me me what’s you recommend. Wait for the brushless to come out or build one up with all the mods except motor?
What servo do you us
So sorry I missed this comment. I run the emax in a couple trucks, the Savox sh0257mg in my 4ws rig (2 of them) and now have a reefs 99 in one of my C10s. The reefs is definitely the strongest but it’s sort of big. Not for every setup. The emax is probably the best bang for the buck and what most will prefer.
Pros and cons of each model! ThIs iS oNLy tHe CoNS
🤘
I’m planning on getting one of these I’m new to the crawler side of things what one would you recommend getting that would work the best with upgrades?
Honestly I’d get whichever one you like best. You can make any of them into something different later if you decide to. They share all of the same parts. Just bumpers, body post and link lengths are different depending on the model.
@@2fmrc no worries thank you what ESC do you recommend getting as I have a GT5 and spear receiver.
@@plproductions8887 if you can find it in stock and the price isn’t jacked up I love the castle micro sidewinder esc. I got a couple for around $55 each. They are super smooth and have tons of adjustability. It’ll work with brushed or brushless motors so if you ever upgrade the motor you can still run the esc. They are really nice.
@@2fmrc thanks you for your help I can’t choose between the Jeep and the C10 like them both lol I’m in the uk so I’ll have a look for the esc and see if I can get them here
@@plproductions8887 hey bud I got one off eBay 👍 I’m 🇬🇧 too, I’ve got both - c10 has lower centre of gravity but man the jeep looks good, ain’t much between them but what I will say is the Chevy & c10 we have for some reason have a slower bottom speed than the others - someone here will know, I think it’s because of the difference in length of some of the drive shafts 🧐🤔🤷♂️ either way it’s notable and makes a difference to crawling 👍 I dunno maybe there are slight variations in the output of different motors even though they are made in the same place? I know this is true of rifle barrels and they are made to incredible exact standards but obviously a world apart from spinning magnets and copper wire! 👍🤣 I’ve done no mods thus far as I’m still no expert in stock setup level at this scale, if I had a 🪙 for every fully modded rc I saw controlled by a person with the coordination of a drunken handcuffed crab 🦀 I’d be a rich man 🤣
What servo and wheels do you recamend
jason smith sr rc fun the emax servo is great for the money. It mounts straight to the stock mount using the longer screws that come with it or fits much better with the emax servo mount from hot racing. I also really like the savox sh-0257mg but it’s a little more pricey.
Here’s the emax which is great for the price!
www.amainhobbies.com/emax-es08mdii-13g-digital-metal-gear-servo-emx-sv-0276/p667828
What servo do you recommend?
If wanting to stay fairly cheap you can’t beat the emax es08md. Next would be the savox 0255 at the mid price range and if you just want the best all around I’d go reefs 99. It’s a beast but a little pricey!
Can i get this one in India ?
Om Jage not sure? I would hope so!
It's a great little truck. Just have to replace all the parts with better parts to make it work good. But really, it's a great little truck .lol
Haha! I totally get that. I basically buy every rtr and expect to replace almost everything anyway 😂
I just realized I really don’t have anywhere I could drive a 24th scale 😔
EnforcedRaccoon we’ve crawled them over pillows in the living room! Up on to the couch and along the back of the couch or whatever!
