Reminder he jumped several stories in the Prison to save Zell's life, and this was well near the beginning of Disc 2 when his Char Development wasn't showing so much of it's head. He makes the loner act because of his trauma, but deep down he really cares.
I really like this friendship. They even connect in Prologus. They're both the more mature and experienced yet less moody and serious characters, unlike Lightning and Warrior of Light. I guess you could say they're both the anti-hero mentors.
Jecht was never a villain to begin with, he was a tough father trying to make his son strong. he was swept away training by a previous sin, eventually following another father who was on a pilgrimage to end the sins reign in a different time. Eventually leading to jecht becoming the solution/problem when he became possessed by an evil religious spirit. making him into the next sin. remembering his son he traversed time to take up tidus and so up leads to the events of FFX
I wish there was a side story where you got to follow Jecht, Braska, and Auron on their adventure. I know Final Fantasy has enough spin offs now, but that's a game I'd enjoy playing.
Years after seeing it for the first time, I STILL haven't adjusted to what Kain looks like without his helmet on. I don't know what I had been expecting, but it DEFINITELY wasn't long blonde hair. Thankfully, Kain manages to make it look awesome anyway. x3

Got damn it, I miss this in the new Dissidia games. Why didn't they allow the characters to communicate like regular human beings instead of wax Dollar Store philosophy on friendship in NT. The newer version, despite all its graphics, does nothing to convey the relationship of these characters and is a huge missed opportunity to tell both its own story and be unique to itself. Its like the new Star Wars; just because its new and pretty doesn't mean it shouldn't put in effort in telling a good story or making interesting characters.
Jecht isn’t wrong here. Even if your intentions are good, like spending your free time working on projects or simply wanting a moment’s peace, others will start to see you as standoffish and unpleasant, even if you present yourself well. You can’t ignore the socialization aspect regarding the people you work with, or you risk bad blood.

I mean, everyone's got limited fishface expressions, and I thought the time of the fish face was over. Apparently not, or SE is just too lazy. : /. But I try to ignore it and like the game for what it is.
