T7 World Raid - First impressions review (mostly Onboard footage)

- Thnaks to this weeks tour guest, Christopher, I got to spend a whole day riding the brand new Yamaha T7 World Raid, and what a bike!
I wish I could ride the WR and the "standard" T7 back to back to really compare the differences between them, it has beem a while since I last rode the standart model, so I am not sure what exactly is new to the WR or just "normal T7 brilliantism" :P
I thought this would he a very simple video but it turns out to be sort of a complete review, although most footage is "onboard" or "helmet camera" so its a bit boring.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy it and learn something =)

Nice with a review that really don't need words. I can tell on the sounds you make what you are feeling :) Good stuff
Hey you! :D
Have you tried the WR yet?
I wish i could ride the T7 and the WR back to back to really try out the differences. It has been a while since i last tried the standart T7!
@@OFFroadOFFcourse Hi :) Nope, didn't try any other bike than my T7 for ages now. I sat on the WR and even that was a new experience. Side by side would be nice.
Very nice review as usual .. i love your reviews because you're simply honest ... i don't have your skills and i really envy you .. Hi from Italy
Thanks for your review. Really interesting bike.
Nice to hear your impression of this bike mate. I come from a 790 Adventure R and I love the World Raid more than my old bike. you put into words a couple of the same thing I feel, but I use my bike more for adventures than off-road, but still... it is gives great confidence in the loose gravel and even sand. Keep up the great work, cheers from Norway 🇳🇴
Thanks for watching and commenting man :) safe and fun travels!
Excepional review, like always!
I can not wait your test of tre Aprilia Tuareg 660, will you try it?
Nice review dude, hope you test a Tuareg 660 😊
Thank you! I was waiting for you to compare it to the Norden 901!
Just about to leave Portugal after 12 days of … bliss. Beautiful country. Wish I could have found time to ride, but this was a trip with my wife, not my bike. Didn’t stop me from noting the abundance of dirt roads/trails everywhere! Hope to make it back one day soon.
Too bad you didnt get to experience the off-raod freedom we have here :D Make sure to come back and contact me! I have everything you need for an awesome bike trip :P
Still loving your content, keep up the good work!
Bella review Diogo! Grazie!
Fantastic as usual!
Fantastic video. I can't wait to test one of these bikes out.
Thanks for watching and commenting, Chris :D
Wow, I hope they come to SA! Love the excitement :)
Definitely the dream bike if you ask me.
Thanks for your videos 👍🏻
Thank you so much for sharing your fantastic rally trip video. Success for you. Greetings from your new fans 👍
Thanks for watching and for the lovely comment man! I hope you enjoy the channel ;)
Espetacular Guerra, Obrigado
Obrigado por veres e comentares! :D
Over here 🇮🇱 the price difference is 6,000 EUR in favor of the World Raid compared to the Norden.
So I guess the Yam is a no brainer…
obrigado por comparar com a Ordem 901, ambas são as minhas principais opções de compra. Saudações de Espanha
This is my dream bike for the adventure riding I do. I'm currently on a DR650 until I can save up or hit the lottery.
I really love my T7! The WR is certainly, not a revolution but an evoltuion for people who want a more suitable bike for long trips. Off--road it seems it has some improvements on the riding comfort but overall, i think that Yamaha didn't want to antagonize too much both models, once they will be both on the market.
Thats a very fair statement Manuel! I think its absolutely true. Thanks for the comment :)
Will there be a longer version?
Would have bought it, but it's too tall for me! :) Probably the best big bike engine for off road riding.
And can you really compare the T7 to the nordern? The norden is a pretty paper bike, make to look good, but it falls apart right away. So many reviewers have had endless problems with the norden...
I bet the yamaha will still be running when the norden packs it.Yamaha is beautiful .
Waiting for one of these to come up second hand with a little use. Save a grand or more plus I'm probably OCD, but just cant bring myself to dumping a brand new 22 to 30k (AUS) worth of bike into the ground. I'm not that rich. lol
Hi, what is your height and weight for reference on the proportion to the bike and handling ?
I had settled for a 690. Even though the yam wr is heavier I need to find out how they compare now.
reliability issues is what would keep me away, sadly. otherwise VERY nice, almost perfect KTM bike; weight/power/suspension/...
what is the "best" dual sports bike in your opinion?
É sim senhor, o track do Hub norte :)
There is an abs off button in the place where the power supply of the standard model that allows you to recover quickly the abs off mode when you stop the bike.
One question for you: the norden has the same kickstand switch system than the 701 that when it brokes it can't be bypassed and you have to call for the assistance to take your bike home?
Are you talking about the kickstand switch? That's an easy fix
@@aib666 yes. Corrected. Thanks 👍🏻
@@porkulator3 You can buy a branded kickstand bypass, make your own before the issue comes up and even just keep a magnet when the issue comes up and you can quickly fix it while on trail
@@aib666 yes, I know. But why this complication?
@@porkulator3 I guess it's mandatory in EU for the kickstand to have a switch so you can't ride with the kickstand down for security reasons. Not sure but both my bikes have the same security switch (and they're different brands)
My idea is that out of purely business perspective, Yamaha brought out the original T700 with some 'defaults' or not entirely 'complete'. _missing steering damper, springs just a tad too soft, pegs a bit narrow, amount of fuel could be better, dumb exhaust placement... Surely they most have noticed these very obvious engineering deficiencies at the development?
So a bit later, out comes the World Raid with most of these magically corrected. And oh, several 1000$ more! 😧
My opinion is that people are wrong when justifying the extra cost of the World Raid by comparing with cost of the spare parts to bring a standard T700 up to this spec.
It would have cost Yamaha almost nothing extra to have the World Raid brought out in the first place _for the price of the first edition T700. (1 steering damper and 1 extra fuel cap, nothing else)
So what's next, a version 2 World Raid with an improved exhaust?? ...also a few 1000$ more?? Grrr...! 😤👿
Anyway, thanks for your nice video!
Ahah, i dont agree 100% with you, but i agree like 97% :p
I have a master's degree in marketing, and indeed there is always some sort of f**kery going on, just like you describe. But usually is not about creating flawed products, its more about creating the most simple thing (for the lowest cost) the customers are willing to buy today, and worry about the next step later.
Example: if "studies" tells them people are willing to pay 9-10k for a 450cc enduro bike with X, Y and Z specs, they wont create one with "W" even if they could (unless they want to sell it for 11k).
The part where i dont agree with you (the 3%) is that the T7 was/is actually a brilliant bike (but like ANYTHING in this world, there is always room for improvements). Its one of the best off road adventure bikes ever made for a killer price, and such a concept was veeery needed. Thats why they sold like hotcakes.
In other words: They created a very good bike for the price of an "Ok" bike... Witch is already very unusual nowadays.
So i think It would be a pipe's dream to demand a "super-duper ready to race all full specs bike" for the price of an "Ok bike". Know what i mean? 😁
As for the exhaust thing, its not that big of deal, especially if you eventually fit the bike with luggage racks or whatever. There are 47287582 T7s out there, and only a few got any serious (i mean serious) problem out of that exhaust placement so "meh", its not the end of world.
Neverheless, i find it a bit stupid that Yamaha didnt fix this for the new WR... Again, i think they simply know that 95% of the people really dont care/know and couldnt be bothered to solve it 😒
We live in a world ruled by "the principle of minimum effort" 😤😤
@@OFFroadOFFcourse Thanks for your reply and explanation!
"the principle of minimum effort" _ I see what you mean and... that's very sad too.
And/but ; we also wonder why China has become such a superpower. Yet we keep buying things as cheap as possible (in China) and not from our local market... Which makes it partially, our fault...
Is the steering Damper stock on the world raid?
Yes it is :)

Hey, I never heard about most of those bikes! I will investigate them and see what I can do :P
Thank you man!
Not enough power. Yamaha need to tune that thing for 90HP or make a T9
I know a lot of people agree with you, but i think its enough as it is (for offroad and the general use i have for bikes nowadays).
I guess having a T7 and a T9 at the same time on the market wouldnt hurt though
@@OFFroadOFFcourse off road it's enough power I agree. On road needs more ponies to be proper fun in both avenues.
First ✊️
Ahah, thank you xD
Is 200kg in total weight max..too mouch to carry..2 up riders plus laguagge plus panniers, crash bars..in total 200kg??! I mean rear suspension?? I mean ...long distance touring....on the nice asphalt road
What if the Colove 450 Rally is decent to drive and gets about the same price as in China. It would be Christmas time. Colove 450 Rally production version estimated price €6000 in China. It's a single but don't know about the oil intervals though ua-cam.com/video/M6JE9aUZQLk/v-deo.html
320 km for 16 L ? only if you never get past the speed of 90 km per hour 😄,
I never get more than 280 km..
Come on, normal speed, and some fun offroad 320-340 km easy with 16l tank. Cheers!
@@jednym_sladem Nope 😄, I know dozens of T7 owners.. only the cheapest of them can get 300 km with it...
@Bob Sacamano I guess worth a try..
"Damper" not "dampener".
