- We were just about to continue our bicycle tour when the Corona virus pandemic shut down borders all around the world. So we got stuck here in The Gambia in West Africa without any idea about when we would be able to continue our world tour. Let's make the best of the situation! 🌱
Hello and welcome to our channel! 😊
We are Peyman and Matilda and since 2018 we are cycling around the world for 10 YEARS, making vlog-style documentary videos about our adventures.
We have cycled from Finland to Africa, and currently we are cycling the west coast towards South Africa and from there to Kenya. After Africa we will start to cross Asia and the Americas.

I have to say that your approach to travel is so much more authentic and in tune with an appreciation and understanding of why you are doing this. In most other cases of online travel influencers and popular youtube travel experts and vloggers that had to confront the realities of COVID-19 while on the road, their response was to travel back to their home countries to avoid being in the countries they were ostensibly traveling to visit in the first place. It shows, IMO, that their interest was more in counting countries on a bucket list and making cool videos than with BEING in the countries and meeting the people and learning the culture. Running away back 'home' means you were not really invested personally and spiritually in travel and the countries you visited in the first place - no matter how many countries you visited or how long you spent on the road. Nomad's Trails' commitment to the process and demonstration of the strength to build your life wherever you find yourselves is an excellent example to the host people and to others in the world that it's more important to engage with open heart and kindness to make the best of the situation wherever you find yourself. Everyone in the planet benefit from your good example of what it means to be human.

I also did a long cycling trip and ended up in The Gambia longer than I expected. I ended up in Farafenni for about a month and I became a school teacher for the duration and being hosted by another teacher from the school.

Wherever both of you live, the place become beautiful. Cycling couple become Gardening couple. Having seen mouse trap, I thought how wonderful grafts men in Gambia . People in Gambia though, they may be poor but how honest and generous.
I am more frustrated than you guys because of you getting stuck in Gambia. It's a relief that you uploaded one video now. Love you 💗
thanks Raja, we try to make the most out of this situation. we do miss cycling life for sure but now a bit of farming experience has been very interesting also in a sense we chose to be stuck in the Gambia rather than Europe and we happy with that decision. but we didn't know it would take this long😅

Love how resourceful you are, using natural materials such as bamboo for furniture, not wasting any water and growing your own food. And Payman, I'm a physiotherapist, and think you would make a good one 😉 You're so inventive with your exercise, don't need a gym, but can exercise anywhere anytime! Even in lock down keep posting regularly like another youtuber couple stuck in Peru. My point is people who follow your channel do so because they're interested in your amazing journey around the world, how you both look fulfilled with so little material comforts. The lock down is absolutely part of the journey, part of the life along the journey you are on. If you post I will watch.

You are remarkable and inspiring people to see you in a place where you know no one and do not speak the language, plus you create such a nice space from a very depressing structure with great ingenuity and very hard work. You also think of giving to others planting that garden in an impossible looking plot, leaving future vegetables and herbs for the people, very kind, and even adopting a stray cat! You are beautiful souls on a great adventure! I will pray for you, and I gave you a little bit a couple of weeks ago, not much, but something is better than nothing and hope others do too. In Africa, you make do with what there is. You just do it. Love that! No one will ask questions but most will help! The vegetable patch is a good idea. You can also buy chillies, beef and dry them to keep the for longer. Great work between you two. And the cat! Thanks for the vid!
