On this weeks Video i take out the 2005 CV8Z limited edition Holden Monaro! witch i thought was going to be stock! lol well.... was i ever wrong! but in a good way haha this Monaro had been modified to somewhere around 700-800HP and was one of the best sounding cars i've ever driven! the noise from the supercharger and the 3 inch exhaust was just magical! I can honestly say this was one of the craziest cars i've ever had on the channel! so i hope you enjoyed it and got some entertainment from my near death test drive of the "modified" CV8Z! lol please like and comment and consider subscribing if your new here.. let me know what other cars you'd like to see in the future :)

Hi Ross. I have no real details about the modifications yet but should know more in the next few days. I will let you know. I had it checked by my mechanic who is a performance specialist and he said the modifications were done very well but without taking the vehicle apart it would be difficult to know. I will go and see the mechanic who last serviced it as soon as I can.

Ford took the mercury Capri to the US in the 90’s and the Mitsubishi Diamante was australian made but that’s it, this would have been the first Aussie built GM vehicle to be importerd to the US

Absolutely 🤣 I have always had Australian made cars, first being a VT Holden commodore, now a Toyota Aurion (Aussie built V6 Camry) at the moment but I’m going to have to turn to the Americans now 😈
@@kademavroudis2357 i still have old Chryslers made here in Adelaide, The Regal se v8 has been the best car ive ever owned, 1 million ks on it but has a hot 360 in it now with alloy heads and the best of everything. Ive given that car a hard life but looked after it. True Australia made great cars but traitors running Australia dont want anything made here.

Not really a smallish coupe mate. It was based off a full-sized VT-VZ platform designed in secret by Mike Simcoe who is now vice GM president of global design. Back in the days when GM possessed vision and creativity. Even most of GM-H had no idea this car had been created. There was a V6 Buick based Supercharged version and V8 LS1 5.7 Ltr + 6.0Ltr. Supercharger most likely a Whipple but could be a Harrop, Magnuson or Eaton type.T56 gearbox or possibly a Tremec upgrade. Also, AWD coupe made used by HSV. Straight line car????Not for the windies???? LOL. They do handle with full IRS, a good spring and shock combo trust me. We live for the Windies in Oz. If you LOVE the sound try the last VF series with Bi-Modal exhaust. Sound like the god of thunder x 10. But so glad you love the car and it's so sad that you didn't get to experience the HSV version stateside. It's so sad that now Americans are finding out what great cars like this and Ford Falcon were after they were killed off. We love them and will miss them. Find an HSV GTS/GTO version and a Falcon GT or Barra powered Force6 turbo. Then your smile will never leave your face.
thanks for all that info! its small-ish in comparison to the regular sedans they make i was referring to and i said a straight line car more so because it was so heavily modified lol very scary going around the corners 🤣 but this car felt dam good and was way more than i could have ever expected! there are some FPV cars coming to the channel soon.. and HSVs keep an eye out XD

You should go to Summernats some time which is a horsepower car fest in Canberra each year. You will love the FPV GTF V8 blown Coyote motor, BA, BF,FG XR6 Turbo version. And find a GTSR VF. And if you like history maybe a VL SS Group A or one of the Holden V8 Powered Commodores with a stroker 355 crank. Look forward to your other reviews mate.Because you reaction is just worth the watch.

No, sorry to say that we made and sent to the USA the mercury Capri (sold here as Ford Capri) and the Mitsubishi Diamante (sold here as a Mitsubishi Verada) before we did something nice and sent the monaro as an apology to the abovementioned cars.

You should review a done up L67, one that has an upgraded pulley, a2a intercooler, tune, diff gears and cam
would be very keen hope one day to find one

I can completely agree with you they come stock with 225 kilowatts which I must say is quite disappointing but all I did with mine was do extractors full exhaust system and a Mafless tune now it makes 317KW which is 425HP which is quite alright considering how little has been done

@@RossReviewsau I'm like a 3rd generation commodore/Monaro freak haha been around em since I was a little kid I can tell alot off them purely by sound and shift length although I prefer the V6 they are under the radar and make alot of power when properly done there is a man getting around with a street driven V6 turbo with 1000rwhp

They indeed made a prototype VE coupe called coupe 60 that was built and displayed. But guess what...….GM killed that too. And the idea of exporting the Ute and Sportswagon to USA. Bob Lutz was a great MD of GM but once he left was replaced with a new breed of bean counter derived people who like Ford had no respect or appreciation for Aussie engineered, designed and built cars.

The ls2 engined variant, named monaro vxr in the uk, pushes 450 to 500 whp with a vortech supercharger, sports cats and cat back exhaust. Would be very surprised if the monaro in this vid wasnt pushing at least 600 whp
The ve/vf was the ugly duckling, over exaggerated wheel arches/fail ass end ( especially on the utes) plus they weigh 1950kgs the last decent shape was the vz ute, prefer the vu ss. Glad they made the monaro when they did, v2 was great with the vy/vz seats/dash/steering wheel etc.

The missus has a CV8Z.....exactly the same specs as the one tested (minus supercharger) with low k's.
The gearbox in it is really nice, short shifting and really positive in its action.
Of course my FPV GT-P is a far superior car in every way.........🤔

I actually thought this was going to be stock n when I rocked up to the dealer he casually told me by the way it’s been supercharged and making 7-800 hp🤣 prob more like 650 but was an absolute animal.. hoping to get a stock one on the channel again soon to see the difference

Coup is same size as sedan only roof has been lowered and maybe rear overhang cut a little short. Also not to unusual a model considering the history of these two brands locally with coupe versions of their sedans in the 60s and 70s
We got the same car in the states it was limited its rebadged the Pontiac GTO.

@@RossReviewsau sucks both brands discontinued, we still have the Camaro and Mustang, i wish Australia had an autonomous company to make muscle cars, i think tickfords still around though i could be wrong im a yank.
When this car was imported to the us the Pontiac club of America swapped the front page picture of a Pontiac GTO to a Mustang
in protest and disgust at the bubble car look.
I hate the Pontiac front end.. but the Holden GTO looks good

How good was this , those gearboxes are great . Expensive to rebuild, $4500 plus $1500 for a decent clutch. Wife used a Cheap Chinese blue steel clutch in her Vz SS , it destroyed the gearbox . It has 300,000 on it and that vz flys along .She was going to sell it because of the gearbox, i said no , been a very good car , Its done a waterpump, radiator and serpentine pulleys. Not bad for 300.000 and the engine is perfect but i oil change every 5,000 . These are good cars ,they go hand but can only imagine how fast that Monaro is being super charged . They sell those supercharger kits for old Mopars but its fast enough how it is. Great review mate love it.

I looked at this car before it got given to a dealer to sell it and the guy that built it told me the engine was a 6 litre l98 motor.

Well... your tyres didn't light uncontrollably, so it cetaomly isn't a XR6 TURBO with a.turbo upgrade. Want a white knuckle. Ride ? Drive a XR6T with 24psi boost. mine can scare the siht out of me.
Nor Dic this was controllable with a stable foot! But you had to be very careful! I’ve reviewed a Xr6turbo with over 400kw on the channel before check it out if ya haven’t already! FG model and that thing would light up all the time! Any gear

shifty dingo I think the ute did surprise me more for sure! This was def a beast tho!🔥🙌 very close cars! on speed the turbo FG was more violent! This was much more controlled but still I had to be very cautious 😳🤣

He loved it.. so much.
But he is suffering from dementia and can't drive anymore... wasn't happy when we all told him he shouldn't drive any more he was a taxi driver for 40yrs..
So now its in my garage (out of sight out of mind) i will end up with it but not sure what to do with it.
Store it away? Drive it.. or sell it one day...
She is pretty clean... has 98k kms.
Its been modded with full stainless big exhaust and cold air intake setup.
Its a beast. I would get myself into trouble with this thing.
When i start it up once a week i get a bit sad.
Dads music comes on the cd player and i leave it on.
Dementia is a curse.

It was built in August 2005 but holden didn't sequentually number the builds..
Would love to know what build it is.

@@RossReviewsau so in Australia throwing in more power is almost pointless, you can not use the power here in Australia without losing your license so they are a waste of money , i have a stock LS1 calais and i dont really ever get to use its potential in Australia , over regulated

i think the Holden looks far better than the GTO version but id agree its not there best car... i still prefer the utes and the sedans 🙃

I think that Pontiac actually straightened out a vulgar front end on the VZ, and actually added a bit of extra pizazz to the already well-sorted VE front treatment. Given the choice, I would jump at the Seppo offerings.

7-800hp, bahaha typical used car salesman talk, i doubt it. my mates got similar work done but with a better super charger to his 6ltr clubby and is only getting 650hp. More like 500.
Adrian Darby I think around 600 was a more realistic figure.. they may have been pulling my leg a bit but I tell ya this was one tough Holden.. best sounding V8 I’ve ever driven
I owned exactly the same car from new. Old Bill Lee built the 5.7 with exactly the same supercharger he's got on this one. It was Largely a stock motor with cam and upgraded fuel delivery to suite. This was back in 07. It made roughly 470hp.good torque but not overly powerful. I ended up frying the piston so bought an ls2 crate motor and stuck the same supercharger on it making about 427hp,largely stock.that was fun enough. At the time Harrrop & Walkinshaw were starting to bring out these whipple supercharger capable of up to 800+ hp.,but not these little ones. Great car. But the guy driving it is a douche. They are an excellent handling car in the twists if set up right. He's never driven a fast car before because he behaves like a novice.
