- What connects 3 continents, 22 countries and legendary empires? It's the Mediterranean Sea 🌊. Said to be the center of the world, the Mediterranean Sea is part of the Atlantic Ocean. So many have passed and still are there; Greeks, Assyrians, Phoenicians, Egyptians, Jews, Hittites, Carthagians, Persians, Romans, Berbers, Goths, Franks, Arabs, Slavs, Seljuks, Spaniards, Ottomans and so on! The sea was an important route for merchants and travelers of ancient times, facilitating trade and cultural exchange between peoples of the region. The history of the Mediterranean region is crucial to understanding the origins and development of many modern societies. The Roman Empire (both Western and Eastern) maintained nautical hegemony over the sea for centuries. If those countries could do something about their truly abysmal political and less than optimum economic circumstances I have to say, they would probably be among the most attractive places to live in the world. Unfortunately, I would advise not holding our breaths ...

It’s crazy how close Greek dance and music is to middle eastern debka like Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan! But some of the music also sounds close to Egyptian style music. It’s beautiful how we can celebrate our similarities rather than our differences ❤️

I understand the geographic criteria, but seeing Portugal not being included.... it hurts as a Portuguese, our culture is full Mediterranean.
Portugal is Mediterranean but it kinda gets overshadowed by Spain just like Albania gets overshadowed by Greece.

All Mediterranean people are great and unique and different but they all have great civilizations .I mean all of these countries historically were part of Roman empire so make sense .Many outsiders are now trying to steal the history of Mediterranean people . Agree. I an a fan of him and I believe that he is dancing way better the balkan or middle eastern dances than the dances which are strangers to his culture. He should make more Videos with this type of dances
@@Hobbymusiker84 middle eastern dances are pretty nothing like those from balkans, but also, speaking of balkans, other than a geographical distribution, what more is it really, especially in terms of dances? For example, Greece is in balkans, but especially the second dance in this medley would look a lot closer to an italian dance than to a Bulgarian one, let alone a middle eastern (the resemblance in the latter is literraly zero)
Overall, the part that i dont get in your comment is how "middle eastern dances are familiar with his culture"

@@Chris-xb7gm Middle East, Turkey and the Balkans 😊and to add to your previous comment, the Balkans are to some extent influenced by Middle Eastern culture (dances, food, etc.), even in such a small area dances vary from region to region, even within one country, but in some regions the influence from the Middle Eastern culture is more than in others, therefore certain dances in the Balkans are very close to Middle Eastern ones.
Levantines and Greeks have the same spirit 👏👏👏👏👏

Excellent work with Croatia! Croatia has many folk dances for such a small country, and you chose the right ones from Split and Dubrovnik which are on Adriatic Sea and belong to Mediterranean.
