There are two distinct styles of solo traditional Irish dancing - step dancing which is virtuosic but more formal, and sean nós dancing, which is more relaxed and semi-improvised. Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are not connected to European culture. Not geographically, not ethnically, not genetically, not culturally and not even in linguistics. Turkey is sharing some of Europes culture due to the geographical location and the assimilation of dozens of neighbouring and conquered nations. But not ethnically, not in linguistics.
I didn't realise just how many different places these kinds of dances came from! I'm from Australia and a lot of the time i see dances like these irl it turns out it's often a mixture of four or five countries styles. Which is a very Australia thing, mixing cultures like that, although it does make for some nice surprises when you find out just where particular dance moves or styles come from. ❤ Keep dancing everyone

Sure, flamenco, everybody knows flamenco but that dance style is mostly representative of the gitano subculture of the southern province of Andalucia. If you want deep Spain try jota and muiñeira dances, you will find great similarities with the Balkanic dances. There are no coincidences.
To be honest my first choice for Spain was jota, but to a poll I made flamenco was more known! :) But I'm preparing a video for Spain and I'll try to cover everything! :D
You're so good, Vasílis! I'm watching this amazing video all the way from Norway 🕺. I must say that you really captured the right moves of the (Norwegian) Halling dance, there's no doubt about it that you got that one right 😘. What a lovely folk dance tribute.

Thank you Vasilis for putting this together. It took tremendous amount of work. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. Dance is a celebration, something we can all connect to.
Wow, that was a pretty accurate and aesthetic depiction of those nations' cultures. I should mention though that Kazakhstani dances that I saw when living close to its border were very different to those in the video, but that's probably because I was in the Asian part.
Wonderful ❤, we got a lot of great dances for many countries that are also your first dances from many of those Central/West/North European countries! Will stay tuned for future dance medleys from these areas :)
3:07 min - I never ever before have been proud of my country. I've always been fascinated by slavic(especially Ukrainian, Czech (Odzemek etc), Slovak), Romanian and Hungarian dances... But now I realize that my own country is not so boring after all! I'm from northern Germany, never been to Bavaria and always hated Schlager and all that typical "German" stuff so I never took a closer look. But this dance has quite some similarities to some of the dances I mentioned! It's not boring at all and very rhythmic, I like it! So thanks very much for this video! Now I finally can be proud a bit of my own heritage :) Also: can anyone tell me what is the song that's played for the Finnish dance?!? :D It's gorgeous!! and somehow sounds familiar, but I can't remember! at 3:32 min
I'm so glad you liked our dance. Often people from the northern parts of Germany dismiss Bavarian culture as backwards, dumb or fake and unfortunately "Volksmusik" is confused with "volkstümliche Musik". We have a rich culture in Bavaria and we try to preserve it, which makes us often look like we're stuck in older times. But we're just like the people in many other countries that try to connect their traditions with modern life and keep their roots alive.

Welsh country dancing is similar to what is shown for french, France has lots of regional styles, English has clogging and sword dancing (perhaps similar stepping to what was shown for Romania), medieval square dance similar to french, and use of handkerchiefs too. I think Scottish dancing should probably have been shown with a separate flag ;) as it's so different to Welsh/English styles and more similar to the Irish style.

И я даже не подозревала, что у финнов такой энергичный народный танец!
Well, I couldn't say which one is better since there are a lot of great dances, and together it is an amazing video! I find Ukrainian Hopak as a great dance and one of my favorites, Caucasian Lezginka, from Moldova, of course, our Balkan region. I like Serbian kolo, although you chose one which is not my favorite 😁Which one have you used from Bosnia? Sounds very similar to one dance from Northern Serbia, specific to one of our minorities. Thank you!! :)
@ vassillis...al the best from romania...kala xristougienna!!!!
Nice to see a video focusing on men dancing -- from a country where our most well known folk dance is done by men only.
Keep dancing, fellas!
Amazing
Well, I couldn't say which one is better since there are a lot of great dances, and together it is an amazing video! I find Ukrainian Hopak as a great dance and one of my favorites, Caucasian Lezginka, from Moldova, of course, our Balkan region. I like Serbian kolo, although you chose one which is not my favorite 😁Which one have you used from Bosnia? Sounds very similar to one dance from Northern Serbia, specific to one of our minorities. Great job! Regards from Serbia 🙂
