I bought mine in september 2022 and preferred it to Hiundai i10, Kia Piccanto and another small car which name I have forgotten. The AygoX drives a lot better than the before mentioned cars. It feels bigger and lighter, a noble car to drive. You feel secure and not squeezed in a too small cabin. Yes, the engine is weak, but sounds great. Brakes are impressive and there is NO squeaking sounds - says a man, who is used to italian cars. I like the near-fact, that a Toyota very seldom sees the inside of a garage unless is it for service. All in all I am very happy for the car - never thought I would be.
No, definitely no, my H I 10 is much quicker, those 2 inches and the generous angle at which the back doors open makes a world apart in comfort, styling and the slightly cheaper price do matters !
The Hyundai I10 and Kia Piccanto are far superior to the aygo x in almost every way thinkable.
It wasn't that long ago that you could buy a decent new B segment car such as a Ford Fiesta or VW Polo for that kind of money. We pay far to much for new cars in this country.
Blame Brexit for the price increase.
You probably haven't been to Ireland! Here prices are astronomical, much-much higher comparing to what you guys have there.
@@daniilrusanau5849 Tell me about it. Ireland has a worsening housing crisis with record levels of homelessness and extortionate rent/house costs that are way above the EU average. The cost of hotels is a disgrace as you could nearly get a week in Spain for the cost of two nights in a b&b/hotel. Rip-off Ireland at its best.
@@anthonyconnor1603it’s no wonder so many Irish people leave the country!!
No one ‘buys’ them though do they, all PCPs. They just price them high for bigger monthly payments, then a bigger difference between the new and end of term price.
Had mine since July. Fantastic little car. No complaints. Does exactly what I need from it.
You had low information, low standards and forked out a lot of money and the dealership is happy.
You should've bought a 5 year old car
Is the acceleration as bad as people say?
I have had mine since August after placing order mid June. One of the most pleasing / fun cars I have owned. Exclusive Auto, with the opening roof. Although the engine is not the most powerful, I have found it perfectly adequate … I am not sure how aggressive a driver I would need to be, to find it problematic. I drive mostly in town, but sometimes A roads and motorways too, and I generally find it quite fun to drive, perhaps because of the handling which you do acknowledge. Reasonable review in other ways, I guess, but people looking seriously at this kind of car are not bothered about the most luxurious interior plastics, or the absolute sizes of loadspace etc … if you can do weekly shopping, weekend trips etc. it is fine.
I would guess that people in hurry cause more accidents than those who drive at a leisurely pace. So many car reviewers put so much emphasis on 0 to 60 times . Public roads are not a race track.
Had mine since July, I love it. Perfect little town car
Driving mostly rush hour traffic and short shopping trips to local mall, well - Aygo X excels exactly where I need it. And honestly, fast 0 - 60 and high max speed => I won't miss them.
Tight turning circle however and good mileage; that's what I want.
I did 100 km with one yesterday (I rent in toytota while my yaris was in officine). Toyota puts a lot of quality in this "entry" car. I had the most equiped version with the big screen. The best things: steering, the screen, the outlooks. (6 liter on 100 km, all types of road/traffic, empty car)
I have had the aygo x now for three months. and enjoy this car a lot. the fuel economy is great it is so easy to park. it is an ideal size for the small roads we have on this island. because people hare using far to bigger cars than they need
Exactly, these huge SUVs are ridiculous very amusing watching them struggle to turn in car parks
When you look at the price you they are asking..?? 🤔2nd car prices are bloody crazy 😳 manufacturers are asking more for 3 to 4 years old vehicles now than when they were new ..the world 🌎 has gone totally mad..!
The little engine is not important. Nobody buys such a car to get 0 to 60 times. You buy these cars to get to work and to the noodle shop.
I had a 2019 mid spec version of the previous Aygo. White with the black trim, looked fantastic.
Same performance as this one and you very quickly get used to and actually ’drive’ it. It’s one of those classic small cars that really likes to be worked and you don’t have to try to go fast to feel like you are.
It actually rewards good driving, in a way that was quite unexpected. Oh, and of course no niggles or teething troubles of any kind. No problems at all in fact. Well, it’s a Toyota. (And the person who has the car now has had not a single issue either, that’s normal)
Yes, the engine is ‘slow’ if you don’t drive it properly - or just can’t be bothered of course - but it’s great fun on the twisty bits.
I’ve had Audi, BMW, Alfa, Lancia and others, but the Aygo was (and probably still is in its new guise) much better than a short time with the car can probably show.
The previous model shared underpinnings with Citroen (C1) and Peugeot (108). This new one is pure Toyota from the ground up.
I’m not so gone on the looks of the Cross but I guess it’ll get better with time. Great car though.
Only motoring journalists ever see hard plastics and think 'got to scratch that with my nails! Scratch scratch!'
Exactly. Most owners don't care.
It’s a decent looking car! I think it’s better than its rivals.
I have the older Aygo which I love for it's size. Brilliant for being able to park it where larger cars just will not fit. With parking spaces at a premium in most towns & cities, why oh why do manufacturers insist on making the smaller cars in their range bigger? They already manufacture larger cars if that's what you want. I will be keeping my old Aygo for a few more years & carry on laughing at the people who, when they park their huge car, they cannot open the door wide enough to get out😂
Keep your Aygo. Preserve it. It's a true city car. Not this CynicalX
No doubt new cars are overpriced but I would still be interested in buying one. It is possible now to get a new one for 13.5k only the entry level model but it is still reasonably well equipped, although it isn't the best in class in many areas the 10 year warranty and the fact it is tried and tested technology is too much to ignore. Some of the mileage you see on the classified from older aygos is huge, I've never seen a small engine car do so many miles, although slow, the fact it's naturally aspirated unlike a lot of these newer engines with turbo chargers means it just won't go wrong in the long term... For that reason I would buy one
Not forgetting the bundles of standard safety equipments from the entry model that comes as extras from rivals.
Seen lots of these on the roads around me lately, don't know much about them, however they seem to be appealing to some folks and selling well (up here anyway)
I have owned my AYGO X for 8 months now. And previous to that I owned a second gen Aygo from 2018 till 2022. On the whole I am very impressed with it.
Performance - It is lacklustre and quite poor. I wish they would fit a turbo to this engine, or increase the size of the engine to a 1.2 maybe. On country lanes, especially when going between 2nd and 3rd it is very fun to drive. Steering is direct and the throaty engine note gives you some satisfaction and confidence to chuck it around a bit more.
Handling - It does roll a little bit. But because of the stiff suspension that does compensate it. Around town you can dart in and out of traffic with ease. The turning circle is second to none. It’s gotten me out of a few tricky spots in the past.
Practicality - It is an improvement on the previous Aygo. As I am the only driver of the car I rarely, if ever, sit in the back seats. But those who have sat in them have told me they are decent for short journeys but not for longer journeys. Boot space is certainly an improvement on the previous car. I can fit all my bags that I need for work and still have enough room for a weekend away bag and shopping.
Economy - I have been getting on average between 59mpg > 67mpg. And I do quite a bit of motorway driving. Filling it up with fuel costs less than £50 on average from empty.
Good points - The safety systems are very good, practicality is good (for what I need it for), driving experience is good and I like the funky styling. Better than the i10 and Picanto on style. They just look bland and cheap too. I love the rear windows on the Aygo X, means your car is never warm in the summer if left in the sun. Just have to pick your location if you are going to do that.
Bad things - The engine is lacklustre, it certainly needs the capacity increasing or a turbo being fitted. The lane departure and safety equipment can get in the way if you are trying to pass a row of parked cars for example. The seats, on longer journeys, can be uncomfortable.
Overall I like it. I would prefer a Yaris, but if you want a non hybrid, small city car with all the creature comforts of the Yaris but non of the expense. I’d go for the Aygo X.
I have had mine november the 5Th Aygo X Envy its the top model.
my previus whas an Aygo 2020.
the I enjoy my Aygo cross very much its such alot of fun to drive and low milage.
i find the extra`s like the adaptive cruise contro; the lane assist and thinks like automatic beam a very much plus.
the minus is the back seat its litle space and very hard absolutly not comfertable.
so for max two people this car is perfect. anyway i enjoy my Aygo X Envy
It is a cart only for running errands in the city and saving gas is basically for short trips. I love Toyota products they are very efficient and reliable. I liked the video Doug excellent
I think it’s a great fun looking small car. Not sure why reviewers focus on the 0-60 time so much when it’s competitors are even slower, the i10 and Picanto auto are 16 seconds to 60
Thing is you can get (or you could last year) the 99 bhp turbo Picanto which got to 60 in 9.8 secs and feels brisk. There is only one engine available in the whole Aygo range, and it is lacking power.
@@andyhowlett2231 you couldn’t get the turbo with an auto. The Aygo X also drove so much better than those cars.
@@oliverstemp9132 Who would want a turbo with an auto? Not me.
It`s a tiny car, instead of been so critical as to how tight it is in the back seat you should really be complementing the fact that you can even sit there in the first place. This little car will drive forever, and a great little run around as a second car.
The rear seat of the AygoX is worse than the previous version
@@toyotaprius79No its not,my mums owned both and im much more comfortable in the back of the x,im 6ft 2 and 19 stone by the way.
aygo engine will out last all its competitors combined.
Looks retro inside with actual physical controls. Better than the complicated infotainment systems in modern cars.
turning circle is 4.7m. By contrast my Toyota IQ has a turning circle of 4.1m, a 97 BHP 1.33 Engine and 6 speed box. If you want a tiny car, the IQ is the best available.
Toyota was shortsighted by neglecting the iQ. If they bothered, more of their cars would have its platform. There would be more spacious and practical cars, but Toyota followed the short term profit;
Inflate cars sizes and prices, dismiss EVs and delay hybrids.
Enjoy driving ours reminds me of my first car (original mini ) they all go on about the small engine but it seems pretty nippy round town I get over 60 mpg on a long journey , and if I want speed I get in my tt but get half the mpg
I wish it would come to Australia. We have the Yaris and the smallest SUV is the Yaris Cross.
Nice looking little car, a shame its not available as a hybrid
Happy 2023 Doug.
Neither small or hybrid. It's a shame to call this a small car
Millennial fetishes with soft plastics aside, this car will be reliable and simple to run; for most of us oldies who don't fondle the interior, save the wheel, that'll do nicely.
Is this better than a Yaris ? I always think that Yaris is for old people 😬. Is this a bit cooler
I hope Aygo X is available Toyota dealer at Kolkata ? please share the on road price range.
I've had quite a few Aygos over the years, which we use as our 2nd car for City running around and when my wife or I are driving alone. For single driving, or picking up one of the kids from school, it's great, but we seldom use it if we need to drive with a person in the back seat because our kids are adult height now. It was such a cheap car, but did the job and allowed us to spend bigger on an upmarket family SUV as our other car. They've barely changed this new X version from the outgoing one, but they have just tried to double the price by giving it a new identity. Toyota have always called me every 2 years to upgrade to the latest face-lift Aygo versions for the same monthly price. But when this one landed, I said, "No & never!" It's not worth it. They just put some dark plastic around the mudguards and refreshed the interior design, but anyone who has driven an Aygo can see it's virtually identical. Even the engine is the same one used since 2014, just the auto box has changed from clutch less auto to CVT, but the new one's even slower than the outgoing one (which was pretty much the slowest car I've owned in the last 30 years). I like the one I have, it's just a year old, but Toyota were already trying to get me to upgrade it. This is likely to be my last Aygo.
I'm thinking of getting this car for my wife as a first car to learn in. It's ideal. Not too quick and small (easy to manuvour)
1:48 who says the Skoda Fabia is "better"? - you cant really compare the top Aygo X to a base Fabia. They aren't in any way similar in any way but price.
Is this car doesn’t have a center climate air? Only on left and right ?
I like it, but rule it out for two reasons: price is taking the piss and no spare wheel (even as an option). The old Aygo/C1/108 had no such problems.
It's double the price I thought it would be. It's down to pcp before after 4 years you would only be 1 year away from owning the car.. now after 4 years you just give it back lose everything and pay for any scratches or dents or any mileage not agreed and start the process all over again.
This needs to be brought to the states ASAP...
Could you fit in one? I don't think the land of fatties is ready for this type of car yet. Sorry for being so blunt
Nice little city car, however, for £17k top trim level is bad. Just buy an older non X version. The price was Yaris hybrid top trim about 6-7 years ago. Yaris now is £22k excel, but that is a different segment.
All of these cars have grown a segment
Styling-wise it's been executed well, and the engine's the same bulletproof 1.0 3cyl as in the old Aygos etc but I can't help feeling that I'd be much happier with a Suzuki Ignis.....
Owned the latest mk Ignis. I disagree, I'd have the Aygo over it. Ignis is more practical and has more features but feels 'thin', poor ride quality, poor gearbox feel, poor stereo sound quality (a portable bluetooth speaker probably sounds better than its factory system) and poor cabin insulation (sound & overnight condensation)
For central london, at 20mph , and with everyone on the bus chatting on their mobiles , seems 👍 great
I've only had mine for 2 months. I've had to replace a tyre and repair another. The tyres are hard to get and quite expensive. I went back to toyota to purchase a new tyre. It cost me £188. I previously had a yaris.
I never had any issues for nearly 5years.
If it had a Merc, or BMW badge on the front you would have
loved it, What car needs to have a shake up.
Great video, but that looks like a modern version of MK1 Ford KA.
Best little car i ever had.
Tbh, that front end is not as good as the previous generation Aygo. I liked the more aggressive lines.
I love it.
How time passes - this is three times the price of the original TPCA Sub-B cars. As for rear seat space, it's no worse than a Mk6 Fiesta which is supposedly a larger car (but is ergonomically catastrophic). Up against a Dacia, I'd have the Dacia 10 out of10 times. Don't forget - this is also an East European car.
the 0 - 60 time does not matter but being able to overtake safely and get up a hill without dropping down 2 gears is! The Suzuki Ignis has the same footprint but is much more practical and has much better performance for the same economy. OK, it looks quirky but I like that about it!
Having come from a Picanto GT line S (£15,300 4 years ago), I found the test drive of this new Aygo a bit dismal. It sure looks good, but the inside felt a bit basic and the engine was very weak - 14.9 secs to 60 mph is pretty grim. And I see the 'little Aygo' has already begun to grow - from 3.46 metres to 3.7 metres. How long before it becomes an SUV like every other car on the road (almost)?
Yeah, Picanto GT Line S is one hell of a small car.
Like the style but they need to improve interior and sort the engine.
Desperately need to replace my 17 yo Citroen C1 which I bought from my local mechanic who sadly moved away. I'm terrified to buy another car. I will definitely buy one from a proper dealer, however. I'm in love with the Aygo Cross, but terrified to buy one 🤔
Had a nose at these about 4 months ago . Toyota dealer wanted full list price with no part ex and couldn't specify a delivery date. Looked a bit tinny and expensive for what you get. The same situation was stated for the Toyota Yaris cross.
Ended up buying a nearly new BMW X1. Better build quality and priced within a whisker of a Yaris Cross.
Toyota resting on their laurels. Bodywork felt flimsy and as thin as rice paper
Not a fair comparison though. The Aygo is an a low cost A segment product so obviously built to a budget (in the Czech Republic). The X1 was a much pricier product new.
Listed as best top 10 cars for new drivers
Why did they keep the 10 litre engine?
are this available in malaysia?
I like the interior of that car. In fact I like the dashboard more than 98% of any other car I've seen in the last few years. The tablet (infotainment system) is where it should be unlike most cars I've seen in the last few years.
Still I rather the previous version of the Aygo instead of that bloated Aygo.
Also a car with such low power should come with a six speed gearbox with shorter gear ratios even if it still only hits 98mph in 6th gear.
The interior is pretty horrible when you get in it. Super cramped as well
Front looks like the iQ.
Is paint on the underside of the bonnet an option or did they just run out?
Saving weight dude... Performance is the key
Did he just say 50 mpg on a regular manual transmission (with no hybrid)??
Kalau ini axia baru, cantik jugak ✨✨
Quite like the modern Aygo shape at the front with big X look. But this version looks really dated like a 1990's small car.
If a 1990s small car costed more than a Mondeo
@@toyotaprius79 top spec is almost the price of 2 mondeos
Good luck to join the motorway without sweat 🤣
Just got back from Germany where I spent a few days with one of these. Tiny and gutless but got it 175kmph (109mph) on flat autobahn. Not recommended but it didn’t get floaty or particularly unsettled.
This isn’t new, this one’s been out for about a year…
And it's a shoddy cynical car crossover that's more expensive, less practical but larger than the original.
It's profiteering.
Why is literally half of the car covered in unpainted plastic? Back in the 90’s this kind of car would have been more basic than the lowest entry level you could get.
welcome to Thailand Aygo..
Looking funky, acting like 80s disco?
71bhp in something that should weigh about the same as a shoebox surely should better 14.9 seconds 0-60mph!?
Side on it looks a bit like the first series Ford Ka.
Gutless engine, however bullet proof.
Great car for a single person who thinks it adds to their "cool" image.
Truth is its not much use to families or anyone who even occasionally has passengers.
Cool maybe, better off buying a more practical car such as the i10 or the Sandero Stepway for quite a bit less money.
Rear seat space doesnt matter, is of no significance when you are an only adult or couple, my 20 year old Toyota Corolla is still going strong and back seats never ever used in all that time, obviously a family with 3 kids/ need a people carrier or bigger car, so the Toyota Aygo is really for a single person or couple
and do you think reviewers are too picky? looking for a car that doesnt exist ?
Also doesnt matter how powerfull an engine is , youre only allowed to do 70 mph by Law or get fined/points on license
Ay, go cross that one off my list!
Wish they sold it in the usa
Toyota would rather sell you less options, an an impractical sedan corolla or a dead boring corolla cross.
It's just too pricey in my opinion. Indeed the high spec models look poor value.
Petrol only? No hybrid?
Toyota doesn't give a damn about hybrids if they don't need to provide one. It's all profiteering
Such a shame. Ive a 13 year old Peugeot 107 (mostly toyota made) with a 1 litre Toyota engine - it goes like a rocket thats what I was hoping for
The doors on the Yaris sound tinny too terrible for the money, come on Toyota you need to keep up or lower you prices.
Yes it is the best small car - probably because its the only small car you can buy now. And that's not a small price. I think manufacturers deleting small economical petrols so resources can be directed at making a profit off rich people's electric SUVs shows contempt for the buying public. I guess I'll have to keep an old banger going for good - mad max style.
how much is the car tax on this? its not 0 like the aygo right?
If only it had a turbo and a bit more hp
Interesting
I sold brand new Toyotas for a short period at the beginning of this year. Tbh I’m shocked Toyota are getting away with the prices they’re charging for their new models, they just feel hopelessly cheap and they don’t come with an awful lot of equipment either
I absolutely love the first gen Aygo, my father has one and I love to drive it. I absolutely look the exterior looks of the Aygo X.
I would have a hard time not vomitting on these car by looking at that ugly, cyclopes eye dashboard!
Something about the design of the vents and the thing around the center screen really, really makes me uncomfortable!
Better than the fiat 500 cabrio for sure
Why can’t we get this in the USA 😑
UP Gti for similiar money.
I want ☝🏻
Is the automatic version any good?
This car is perfect for nipping in and out of traffic in towns/cities but for the price you pay for it, it should have more power. 71bhp isn't great for today's standards. I am not asking for 130bhp, 90 or 100bhp would be ideal.
I suppose that makes it suitable for new drivers
It's too big unnecessarily, reflecting its cost
THIS IS SO CUTE
I love the funky looks, it's so dolly.
£15.5 k for an Aygo.....really....I don't think so...people mad paying silly prices for cars like this
Have you seen used car prices? I give up tbh! High Energy prices, expensive housing and low paying jobs.
@@agharuokansirim4935 spot on... everyone out to try steal money from everyone now.. If people are stupid enough to keep paying, these prices will just keep rising too.
Even Dacias are getting close to that money these days.
That’s a low price for a brand new car these days. The days of getting a Proton Savvy for £8995 are long gone.
Exactly.
It's a silly car from a cynical Toyota that thinks so poorly of western driver's tastes.
Needs a turbo for that price
I agree. I think it needs a turbo to give it an extra boost as 71 bhp is not much. It would be very welcomed if the power output was increased to even 90bhp.
@@anthonyconnor1603 it needs a hybrid too.
Highest quality small car you can buy
No the fiat 500 is .
Definitely for students and it's fine
This looks like another small city car that is no longer in contention as a replacement for my ancient Skoda Fabia.
Looking at autotrader these can be had for approx 13-14k and that looks about right for how cheap and nasty they are inside. Quite a funky exterior design. Toyota are having a laugh asking 20k + for the top spec models.
Why are we even calling a city car ‘SUV-like’ 🙄
Give you a tenner for it 🤣🤣
I'll give you a tin opener for it.
18, grand and you don't even get front led lights. That is a joke. You got led lights in all the range of the last model.😢
the dash and nav screen all look dated to me
