I dont think thats the point. his supposed height being 5'9" is from a tweet from early access. i think they just made him taller. this is a Gith dialogue. they are known for being absurdly literal and precise. As laezel herself says "i dont pay compliments. i make observations." him being 5'11" is an observation.
Poor baby. I wish we could do more to help him. I always pick him to do the statue and Oskar’s picture cuz I thought it might make him happy to see himself . But you don’t get any reactions or anything. Kinda sad tbh
I also think it's wasted potential. Why commission a statue of Astarion or paint a picture if it doesn't provoke any reaction in him? Unless the game implies that you're doing it for your own selfish reasons so you can look at him, I really don't know.
@@Lunakitty1234 if it helps, Ascended Astarion can see his reflection again and does react to it. I think the initial response is "hello again, old friend. Gods, I've missed you." I'm honestly kind of surprised no one's done a mod using that dialogue for him reacting to the statue (the portrait is wonky and changes everytime you put it on the ground, so that seems more complicated)
This is a bit of a conflicting thing, but Larian also released a tweet stating that he's 5'9". Since he's body type 2, which is 180cm, then he's approximately 5'11" as Lae'zel can say here. However, maybe Larian officially has him as 5'9" despite the in-game height limitations. Either way, it's only a 2in difference.
1:15 Now I'm confused about height. Doesn’t 5'9 tick over into 6'0? How do you get 5'11? Edit: actually scratch that, I figured out what I was doing wrong. My brain was being stupid, it was telling me 5 inches and 11 cm instead of 5 foot 11 inches. Be really funny if Astarion was that tiny though.
@@MarinaCorbi I didn't know Larian once tweeted Astarion's height 😮 Up until now I was blissfully unaware of his height and now that I know, I seriously thought he'd be taller.
@@meganparrish807 When Lae'zel gave this information I had to check how much it was in centimeters, because I have no idea how to measure in feet and inches :P I live in a country where we measure such things in cm.
@@Fairbrooke 5'9" is the average male height in the US and UK (from what I could find), while 5'7.5" is the global average. The height for a male elf, according to Roll20, states that it can range from "under 5 to over 6 feet tall". Some sources just consider 5'6" to be the average male elf height as a result. So he's a bit taller for a male elf, and perfectly average for a male human. Personally, I'd prefer if his height were 5'9" instead of 5'11", but I'm only 5'2" so both are really tall to me.
I bet the tweet from a Larian Dev stating Astarion is 5’9” when in game he is stated as 5’11” (and they haven’t updated/changed his height in any of their patches to reflect the tweet) was just to mess with all the Astarion fangirls.
People keep going on about the 5'9" thing but he's taller in cutscenes than any of the other male companions except halsin. I'd have guessed 5'11" like laezel did; larian perhaps intended him to be shorter originally but unless both gale and wyll are shorter than 5'9", that isn't accurate anymore (I've gone through the act 1 scene with a wyll origin and astarion picks him up, when i played a taller female durge, she picked him up, that's an easy way to tell).
It was a compliment. Astarion is 5’9”. She gave him an extra 2”.
How has no one done anything with this yet? Lae'zel giving Asstarion an extra 2 inches? C'mon people! This is gold!

She does not dispence complements, only observations
I'm not sure he understands just how high a compliment that was from a gith warrior

@@5Demona5 Yes, and then there's the tadpole thing. I like reading fanfics where Tav uses a tadpole to show Astarion himself. It's just asking for it!

@Lunakitty1234 it would be an nice approval rating. Though I am questioning where his parents haha

So you're saying that Astarion, who said those words, was already traumatized by Lae'zel's compliments? It could be that way 😃

Damn Astarion... We're the same height 😅

damn we only have 2 inch difference 🥲🥲 not so bad though
Not at all, it's a really decent height ^^
