The R slowly started slipping over the past 5,000 miles and is now down to 5% power. I got lucky and found a whole transmission with the transfer case out of a 00 Cherokee with 41,000 miles that had an engine fire. $400.... works perfect now. What about shifting very hard into drive and reverse? 09 volvo xc90 v8 AWD, New engine installed and transmission fluid was changed out completely including torque converter. When it is shifted while on the vehicle lift with the drive shaft not installed the transmission shifts very hard into reverse and drive. What if I lost forward and reverse, heard a whirling noise. Adjusted fluid level, still no forward or reverse (Was low, not on dip stick) Few days later drives fine? Is trapped air a thing?
My wife's Buick LeSabre 4T65E started jurking a little at first , then it stopped pulling completely. I let it cool down and it started pulling again. But after it got hot it stopped pulling again. So I was thinking it was the toque converter slipping or the stator Sprague slipping. Not really sure, but I took it to a transmission shop. I'm weighting to here from them. Being that the transmission shifts and pulls ok when cold and stopped pulling when hot I'm guessing it is a torque converter problem. When it first started I thought it was a ignition miss. I mean it really felt like a ignition coil or plug wire shorting out.
sounds like your on the right track with the torque converter but usually when the converters goes bad they have little pieces of metal that stop the filter up and thats whats probably stopping the car from pulling the bad part about this is it may require a rebuild to remove all the metal debris, i hope this helped you

if you are losing all gears then it must be either the torque converter is bad or something is coming apart and it is stopping up your filter make sure the fluid level is good because chevy is known for one side of the stick showing full and the other showing nothing always go by the lowest fluid on the stick
I have an A4LD in a Mustang that upon cold startup, it goes into any gear properly but has almost no pull. As it warms up though, the pull gets stronger until operating temp has been achieved. It pulls normally then. The fluid level is where it should be.

I have an 1977 international scout with 727 auto transmission. I put it in drive and it slowly accelerates when gassing it. And in reverse it won’t move at all. What can the issue be there?
the reverse band has to release in drive and it has to apply while in reverse so I would look in the apply servo area
So I have a question, my truck transmission has always worked fine and all of a sudden today I put it in drive and couldn't feel it go into gear so I gave it some throttle and it takes a second and then it moves , what could be the issue?

@@carlosv5117no transmission was toast, so I took out the automatic and converted my truck to manual.
@@jaynelson8743 damn really? How many miles did it have? You didn’t try to change the fluid that’s what I’m thinking of trying mines at 150k
@@carlosv5117 the automatic transmission had 370000 miles on it plus the previous owner drove it into a lake, so it had to have had water damage, truck is absolutely beautiful, but the motor was blown because of the water so put a motor in that only has 128000 miles on it, runs beautiful, and my 7f5 I just converted it to is a beast. @@jaynelson8743Good choice. I am not a fan of automatic transmissions. Manual gear boxes generally hold up pretty well if treated properly. Replacing a clutch is not too bad of a job to do, generally.
I have no forward gears but i have reverse what do you think it can be.
I have a Toyota axio 2009, and for some reasons the Drive gear just stopped working. The car won't drive forward but can go on reverse. How can I fix it without necessarily replacing the whole transmission?
My truck is 1988 GMC Sierra K2500. It sometimes pulls, in Reverse and Drive but then after driving it for about 5 minutes it looses all gears, no drive no reverse. And sometimes when I start it, it just won't engage in D and R.

it sounds like there may be something coming apart inside the transmission and it could be clogging up the filter? but i dont think a filter change will solve all of those issues

Chrysler transmission was working perfectly fine and then while driving I hear a bang and its gone now, no gears at all. The transmission is whining, with increased rpms comes more whine. Any ideas? thats a tough one for the 6l80 making noises but sometime the noise could be the torque converter or pump making the noise, check out my other video on a 6l80 with a cracked filter, this has been a problem from the factory

Try to put it in manual low, if it goes thru the gears when you manual upshift then its your one way sprag but if it doesn't move then it could be burnt clutches

Shift is so hard it shakes the vehicle on the lift lol what could that be? Transmission was fine before the new engine was installed and installation seemed to go very smooth no codes in TCM either
What if it only happens after a long drive? Then I let it sit for awhile and it will go again just fine and shift smoothly? I don’t get it
either the torque converter is getting hot or your transmission filter is stopping up Hope this helps
I mean it really felt like a ignition coil or plug wire shorting out.
sounds like your on the right track with the torque converter but usually when the converters goes bad they have little pieces of metal that stop the filter up and thats whats probably stopping the car from pulling
the bad part about this is it may require a rebuild to remove all the metal debris, i hope this helped you

How come you didn't mention the solenoid
