Now I’m no turkey connoisseur, but I have worked in a deli and I can say with 100% certainty that is the Dietz and Watson oven roasted home style turkey. It’s a bold move to cook a half chub of lunch meat made to be sliced and put on sandwiches and call it a thanksgiving turkey.

@@Rivwe the problem with turkey is that it's really easy to dry out on the inside when cooking it. Most make the mistake of not hydrating the insides enough with some kind of broth. It can take on the flavors of what you put in. I've had good turkey before that wasn't dried out - I think the whole turkey was fried - and it was the only time it contended with the ham those two years we got the turkey from a family friend who ran a catering business. He did the cooking and had a really nice fryer he used for whole turkeys during Thanksgiving and gave us one if we asked far enough in advance.
Cranberry sauce is the most underrated Thanksgiving food. Not only is the texture immaculate, so you can slurp it down at a breakneck pace, but it also tastes simply amazing. A couple cans of cranberry sauce and an empty stomach are all I need come thanksgiving day. I’m disappointed Charlie.
Nah dude you need to have it homemade. 100x better. Just throw a bag of cranberries and a third cup of sugar in the crock pot and juice+zest and orange into it with like a half cup of water, then wait two hours before mashing it and switching it to low heat for an hour. So easy

I live in a place where we have entire restaurants entire and solely devoted to pies, nobody is impressed by pumpkin because almost every other pie is just better. Peak performance pumpkin pie is just mid. I would rather have any from a laundry list of other moderately prepared pies versus the best pumpkin pie I've ever eaten. My grandmother used to make this dish called Apple Salad every thanksgiving that slapped, my brothers and me would literally fight over it. With the rolls, we cut them in half and put some cranberry sauce in there 👌🤤 with the pies, my grandma bakes chocolate pudding pie and pumpkin pie, as well as a fruit salad and sweet potatoes. Turkey is the best test for a cook. It’s purely subjective to who cooks it. I usually wet then dry brine and inject it with Cajun butter and garlic and it’s amazing

Personally I think Ham or any roast in general is a real game changer, definitely top tier and really changed the Thanksgiving meta in a big way.

@@Rivwe the problem with turkey is that it's really easy to dry out on the inside when cooking it. Most make the mistake of not hydrating the insides enough with some kind of broth. It can take on the flavors of what you put in. I've had good turkey before that wasn't dried out - I think the whole turkey was fried - and it was the only time it contended with the ham those two years we got the turkey from a family friend who ran a catering business. He did the cooking and had a really nice fryer he used for whole turkeys during Thanksgiving and gave us one if we asked far enough in advance.

Cranberry sauce is the most underrated Thanksgiving food. Not only is the texture immaculate, so you can slurp it down at a breakneck pace, but it also tastes simply amazing. A couple cans of cranberry sauce and an empty stomach are all I need come thanksgiving day. I’m disappointed Charlie.

Nah dude you need to have it homemade. 100x better. Just throw a bag of cranberries and a third cup of sugar in the crock pot and juice+zest and orange into it with like a half cup of water, then wait two hours before mashing it and switching it to low heat for an hour. So easy

I live in a place where we have entire restaurants entire and solely devoted to pies, nobody is impressed by pumpkin because almost every other pie is just better. Peak performance pumpkin pie is just mid. I would rather have any from a laundry list of other moderately prepared pies versus the best pumpkin pie I've ever eaten. There's a reason it shows up only a Thanksgiving and its out of obligation, not excitement.

I happen to love turkey and my girl and her family hate it. Well i hosted thanksgiving this year and made the turkey. It ended up getting DEVOURED. They all love it now
So insulted. Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday because everyone makes such good food. We bake a turkey, green bean casserole, and zucchini casserole. With the rolls, we cut them in half and put some cranberry sauce in there 👌🤤 with the pies, my grandma bakes chocolate pudding pie and pumpkin pie, as well as a fruit salad and sweet potatoes. Deadass, everything is good, even if I’m not a sweet potato fan. Y’all got to do over with family members that have their own recipes 😤

Turkey is the best test for a cook. It’s purely subjective to who cooks it. I usually wet then dry brine and inject it with Cajun butter and garlic and it’s amazing
