This is an interesting case if you look into it disney plus aside. Apparently, his wife collapsed 45 minutes after leaving the restaurant. She ate with her husband and his mom. After they left he went to take leftovers to hotel and she and mother in law split up. So for 45 minutes she was alone and then collapsed as she entered another restaurant where they called 911. Took her to hospital where she died and autopsy said she had high levels of nuts and dairy. I want to know what happened in those 45 minutes if she's so deadly allergic why didn't the reaction happen sooner. I think the disney plus thing is taking eyes off of something else. Maybe a larger conspiracy at hand.
Imagine the corporate meeting where they discovered he signed up for Disney Plus. Disney legal: we got him!!! He signed up for Disney plus! We’re in the clear! Disney PR team: is this a good look for the company though? Disney legal: I forgot the part where that’s my problem
What makes this even worse is that the poor Husband was only asking for $50,000 which is pocket change for Disney and they weren't willing to pay that.
Ive been done with disney when an employee went overboard on a cruise and they didnt tell her parents until AFTER the cruise was over. Between that and the epstein stuff..
All the guy did was sign up for a one month trial years ago, so they're saying because of that he can't sue them for the wrongful death of his wife. So anyone who has ever even had a trial, they're saying should not be allowed to sue them in court over anything. Ever.
What Martin suggested about distinguishing who in the household signs up for the trial is the defense the guy’s lawyer submitted to counter Disney’s stupid claim
You all are laughing but this is legit some disponian stuff. I signed a contract that allows a company get away with murder so I can watch X-men 97. Yo I had to watch X-Men 97.
I usually love Disney films and their theme parks, but this is beyond shitty. Honestly the case probably would've settled out of court even if it did go to trial, and it wouldnt have damaged Disney's reputation one bit. But this get out of jail free card is gonna do good damage to their image and reputation.
This is one of the problems with Disney. Not "woke" crap or "they ruined my childhood". This is actually real and how Disney treats their workers is real. Get mad at Disney over real issues.
The thing about is there isn't a judge that would rule in Disney's favor because suddenly that opens up for the precedent of everyone in the country to be at the mercy of corporations. You're injured in a car accident and your air bag didn't deploy abd it's defective tough you signed a deal. Mom died in a South West plane crash because they hired crap mechanics tough you can't sue us welcome to arbitration.
"K... well I was drunk when I signed up for Disney Plus...." so A legally binding contract needs...... 1. Legally consenting parties over the age of 18 2. A legal object ( pretty much you can't hire a hitman) 3. A definite start date and end date. 4. Consideration (something of value must be exchanged) 5. A meeting of the minds ( a person cannot sign a contract under duress or if they're not of sober and clear mind).... that's why I alot these Clauses don't hold up in court and why when you sell your house or something you have to meet at a title company with identification and there's a notary there.... so good luck on them enforcing that. Just because they say you can't sue them doesn't mean you really can't
I’m done. Hope everyone is done, cause I can’t ever go to Disney land now and feel safe. Not like I could afford to to begin with but now I have an actual health conscious reason to not go now.
I don't have a food allergy so maybe I'm missing something, but if I did I would NEVER let anyone prepare my food, never let anyone TOUCH my food. That sounds crazy to me.
It was a restaurant, my guy, and they told them about her allergy. You're saying it's her fault because she wanted to go out with her husband and eat. That's fucked, and poor Disney, am I right?
Employees that wouldn't have much to offer in a wrongful death, it's Disney's business. If they can't cover their accidents, they shouldn't have a business. Their jobs as bosses was to manage those employees and they failed.
This is a bit old now. Disney will no longer oppose the lawsuit. I'm sure they realized how bad this made them look. The plaintiff was only asking for $50k. That's nothing to Disney.
Probably one of the dumbest most souless moves I've ever heard of from a major corporation.... How did they think the publicity from this would effect their subscriber count?

Technically, Disney doesn’t really own the restaurant at Disney Springs, they’re just the landlord and the restaurant is operated by someone else. They’re just trying to get out of not being sued. The response is still ridiculous but I’m just saying.
The biggest problem with this case is the husband Piccolo whose suing them might not win anyway even being a Disney+ subscriber because Disney does NOT own the restaurant that his wife died from her allergies. So who knows…
John Campea has a good video on how it's not quite like this (basically moving it to a different court and Disney didn't own the restaurant on its property)
Just a little clarification because I work around here. Disney does not own or operate the restaurant. It is privately owned by another company. Disney is just trying to say they are not at fault, settling just saved time and money.

Its bs, Americans has a constitutional righf to a jury trial.. they can write what ever they want in their clauses
This has the boys S5 material written all over it. They already had people die at that theme park in S3.
Mickey is a gangster 😭
Julien's Goofy voice killed me. LOL!
