My daughter watched this movie with me back when she was 15..she loved the movie and this song so I dl it on my phone so we could listen to it in the car. She's 22 now and she still wants to listen to it!
jamie blyth I just watch this movie yesterday and it moved me so much that Kim Cattrall is now my top ten most favourite actress of all time! Also not only did it move me so much, that It made me know that my true love is out there, and it definitely my top most favourite movies! That meant so much to hear that from another fan!
A legend of a track and film - 1987 was quite a golden age for cinema in my eyes. And the music had so much funk to it. Those times are sadly well and truly over.
@@corynneclarke383 Im not too sure what happened but it very briefly appeared on spotfy in june last year i think for about half a day then prompty vanished again .
you really can't beat that 80's synth rock fused with dance. This song is obviously dance pop but is drawing influences from funk rock and just...that cheesy 80's charm. exclusively to that decade. love my decade. This is very madonna-ish, but total 80's pep. Back when the entertainment industry had to give a shit. Content was controversial and experimental, music was either raw or commercially fusing genres together. The 80's was a groundbreaking time for recording technology, musical technology, film, storytelling and just overall human social awareness. it was like a decade that built it's own identity thru it's creativity, but at the same time there was still a wholesome quality to everything and good vibes. The music made it seem like there was always a party going on and no matter where you were, who you were, or what you looked like.. you were invited.
This movie is one of my guilty pleasures....oh how I wish I could be in Jonathan Switcher's shoes! Also, props for this being set in Philly! Hometown heroes!
i went to this mall when i was kid.. and they had awesome Christmas show with all the lights and trimmings! great movie! and love her in Sex in The City!
OMG I love it, too! And Kim Catrall is so underrated. She was totally under-casted. And, I KNOW! I used to live on Chestnut St. I used to visit this store which at the time was a Lord and Taylor, and I would think OMG they were here!
i love this song and mannequin is my favorite movie of all time, next to waynes world 1 and 2 and sixteen candles. Andrew McCarthy was sooo hot in this movie
In the studio with all the session musicians who actually play for the recordings. The performers just shuck and jive to the music and pretend to play the stuff that was too difficult for them to play spot on with the drum machine!
I was 14 when this came out. I fell in Love with Kim for many years lol!! I still love this movie and the music. My kids love this movie now too. Im 37 now lol!
Another great song from the movie never released! I don’t know what they were thinking with this song and “In My Wildest Dreams”. They could have made a fortune on how crazy amazing they are and how much people love them! Thanks for uploading!
I was obsessed with this movie for so long......I was such a hopeless romantic back in the day. Sadly as a chubby guy, no girl seemed to want to be romanced by me......unfortunately I've lost so much of what was good about the young me. Too many heartbreaks I guess. Nowadays I'm mostly just cynical about everything. Maybe I'll get it back someday. It's not completely impossible.
And I wish they had released this as a single, even as just a promo with multiple remixes, especially a required extended dance remix! One my all time favorite songs, I first found it available on CD on the singer Alisha album CD titled Nightwalkin released in 1987. I found the CD in 1992 at Camelot Music brand spanking new in the bargain bin in the CD longbox! They had multiple copies for sale, wish I had bought them all!
@900msbieber You will probably like this film too. It is a cute fantasy about a department store mannequin coming to life and only the store's window dresser can see her 'alive'. There are only a few songs in this movie, but it is ALL 80's. The setting of the movie centers around the famous Wanamaker's department store in Philly.
lollin at how a lot of critics panned this movie back then.....those fuckers simply don't know what love is, or what it's like to be that person who always feels like they were born in the wrong time and place, that always has life run em down, but then gets this AMAZING gift (Emmy).....oh man if only.....
This song sends you through all kinds of emotions and heart felt feelings of wanting to fall in love all the while dancing along to it!!!! 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 My gosh this song
Great song from a hilarious film. I also like her song You Wanna Be A Star (Superstar) from the 1999 Molly Shannon and Will Ferrell film Superstar. Alisha is almost 51 now and I hope she keeps going.
Him and Jonathan Silverman was my guyz man. Y'all need to check that Weekend At Bernie's out yo'! That movie is ridiculous!!! I miss you Andrew dog, nobody will NEVER have that innocent Golden Boy smile like you bro................ NOBODY! King Andrew The Great...... 4eva
I wore the fashion of ray bands and high-tops shoes and listen to music like Madonna and George Michael and watched the great movies like this and the lost boys cuz I was an 80s kid =0)

I like this song as well. It is part of my collections on Pandora. It is a good song.
Believe it or not first time I seen this movie I was in prison stuck up in a cell. Was nothing else on the tele but glad I watched it.
Wow what a story.
How can anyone not like this song? 80's upbeat feel-good music.

The 80’s rule
Why wasn’t this song officially released? I love it. Still singing to it in August 2020!
It was released as a single just didn't get enough air time
Fo sho, Felicia. Yo yo yo!
It was officially released. Here it is. What are you talking about?
Is it on Apple Music??
@@corynneclarke383 Im not too sure what happened but it very briefly appeared on spotfy in june last year i think for about half a day then prompty vanished again .
Is it me or did we just have more fun in the 80's? :-)
The world could have ended in nuclear war at any minute, so yeah people made the most of it.
@@6581punk Please don't lol!. 😐😑.
Go look for, Waiting for a star to fall. And the video compilation that's with it... 80s and 90s might be the best decades ever
Without a doubt!
wish people had good music like this. everything was so exiting in the 80s
The 80's had heart, creativity, fun, sexiness, everything that is you can only get in little samples today.
@@tmendez31 and probaly plenty of cdrogs , but heck it produces such great results they should legalize it in the industry
Banger then. Banger now. Please release this to buy or stream.

Happy birthday Andrew McCarthy. Thank you for the best movie of my childhood years.
He was definitely one of the Bratpack those days.
Andrew and Kim both rocked this movie. And of course HOLLYWOOD!
Where do they hide the musicians?!?
In the studio with all the session musicians who actually play for the recordings. The performers just shuck and jive to the music and pretend to play the stuff that was too difficult for them to play spot on with the drum machine!
Omg yes 💗💗
C'mon!, let's dance!
Wooo! shake that thang!!! 😁😁
the 80s were the best, none of this seriousness thats plagued the 90s and 2000s.
I saw Mannequin at the cinema when I was 11... good times :)

If a current pop star sang this it'd be number one.great cult classic.had a crush on her when I was a kid.cant forget Hollywood.great verses
Dancing at a mall in Philadelphia while having this song play to re-create the scene from the film.
