I like how every concept are straight up body horror
Kinda makes you realize how messed up Spider-Man and his villains are, from a biological/scientific standpoint.
@@hamiltonmasseyii4747 Bro, you just posted cringe.
Spider-Man has always been body horror
@@theangryvoltorb8638 What was said?
@@Friendly_Neighborhood_Edgelord I forgot but I think it was something about Marvel being against religion or something idk.
I like that Alfred Molina was kinda chubby and was in that way unconventional for superhero movies
I liked that too, that he was a normal dude and not some freakin model with a disney cut.
Faithful to the comics as Doc Ock was overweight there.
@@lesterbronson2385 Goblin wasnt exactly a model either.
It was comic accurate for Mr. Molina
He was more burly than chubby lol
@@ObsidianKingSlade Goblin gained muscle after the serum.
Guy: spider-man 2 took more a serious approach
Spider-man 2: PIZZA TIME
This just shows that they could make an incredible horror movie with the spiderman licence should they have the correct tone.
Get Sam Raimi to re-enter the scene for THIS type of movie and I am certain we'd have a fantastic horror/thriller Spider-man movie!
@@GeekedOutNeckbeard make it base off kravens last hunt
"kIdS fOuNd iT sCaRy"
I mean srsly, a lot of cool concepts where ditched to appease to little kids (sensitive ones at that, since it really wasn't traumatizing or something) like the symbiote consuming and warping it's host or the animatronic Goblin mask. Sam Raimi with total control over a Spidey film would be insane.
they could use Scorpion or even Morbius for a body horror movie
I say Morbius so that they can give the character a second chance because it was a TERRIBLE idea to give an uninteresting B lister a movie of his own and not dive into the body horror the villain could have
Imagine a live action man spider movie
5:10 is how the Ultimate Dr. Octopus arms look like when closed. In the film you can tell they took inspiration from the ultimate Ock because in those comics, he usually impales people in the chest or stomach with his arms, and similar imagery is seen in the hospital scene in the final film.
This was a very interesting video. I’ve watched the Raimi trilogy since the start of my life so seeing more of what-could-have-been’s definitely piqued my interest more and somewhat enhances my childhood.
I was blown away by the original Spiderman in 2002! I went out a rented the video game immediately after! This video is something to consider for any Marvel fan!

Cheese Jerry cheese jerry
Fuckin ay you said this spot on.
Wow look at this distinguished gentle men
i’m your 420th like just had to say it
If Doc Ock carried a gun or two into battle, in addition to his four mechanical tentacles, he'd be absolutely untouchable.
Imagine him carring a chainsaw.
Absolutely love those lizard designs. I think the updated version from NWH certainly looks better than he did in TASM but I’ve always hated that smooth bald lizard look.
The designs are almost identical. TASM by far had better CGI tho, that is undeniable.
@@Optimus_Prime_2007 Yeah lol, I was kinda surprised by some of the CGI in NWH. Especially Andrew, I noticed he didn't look as good as he did in TASM2, and his mask just looked off- But I'm not exactly sure what it was.
@@nottoofast yeah same for Tobey. I’d wish they put half the time into there cgi as they would in they’re solo movies, but I do understand there is a lot to make, it’s a big film. But still…make the stars look good please.
@@nottoofast i think the cgi was rushed due to covid restrictions
@@Optimus_Prime_2007 they're running out of budget in the second half of the film. It's easier to notice bad CGI but no one notice that they film the whole movie on a set. And those building looking so real that anyone didn't even notice. The deaging of Alfred Molina is also very impressive, better than Hank Pym and young tony stark.
the liquids tentacles concept is interesting, the tentacles use hydraulic system instead of the mechanical one! just like in spiderverse when doc ock use pneumatic tentacles (pneumatic = similar to hydraulic but with air)
I would pay good money for an art book of the Raimi films
There's one for the first movie, not sure about the other 2
I think there's one for the 3rd movie too
In an alternate reality Spider-Man 2 has the futuristic looking arms same plot same movie just different arms
And in another alternative reality Spider-Man 2 it's a mature-rated movie with an horror plot and with many gore scenes. Maybe a disturbing version of the original movie and with a really insane and disturbing version of Doctor Octopus. Peter Parker could also been dealing with fear and anxiety because of his nemesis' nature and it can be also such an amazing movie like in this universe/reality.
Dont worry guys Spiderman 4 and TASM 3 will be in our hearts forever
And in their own universes
he mentioned that the Doc Ock concepts for the first Spider-Man seemed more campy, but IDK, some of those older illustrations looked like Otto was going to be a straight up horror villain. This one in particular, 1:29 for some reason really creeps me out.
I think Black Cat's story was adapted into the video game tie in of Spider-Man 2. It would've been cool to have her on screen to test Peter's decision to be Spider-Man, but I get why they cut her, as it probably would've been too much.
The green liquid Ock arms reminds me a lot of Olivia Octavius from Spider-Verse, probably just a strange coincidence though, given Doc Ock always having green in his aesthetic.
My favorite tentacles are undoubtedly those that look to have been purposely created to cause great harm and destruction, there's just something about their cold and ruthless almost animalistic style that really speaks to me
Doctor Octopus could easily have explained how their "Nefarious design is a necessity in order to accelerate the blahblah potential" in the movie
I like James Carson's idea of the arms being living machines that take on the arms is super creepy and memorable but I wouldn't change a thing about Spider-Man 2
The otto concepts remind me of The War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise
2:53 looks like Darth Vader and Dr octopus combined
I love how the all of the concept art is very ominous and eerie, it really shows the roots of raimi and gives off more of a horror and dark spider man vibe
Great video but I thought you were going to go into the abandoned storylines. Something I've been intrigued by was the writing situation. In a short window of time, Spider-man 2 went through scripts by original writer David Koepp, the team of Al Gough & Miles Millar, Pulitzer winner Michael Chabon and finally Alvin Sargent. Sam Raimi had Alvin Sargent write the final drafts using the ideas Raimi liked most from the previous writers as well as Sargent's own contributions. David Koepp went uncredited while Gough, Millar and Chabon received story credit. Koepp and Chabon's drafts are now online and have a lot of the same story elements but are very different as well.
David Koepp's script in fact has a lot of elements that went into TASM 1. Chabon's draft had the younger Doc Ock storyline where he had a crush on Mary Jane. Both scripts have the storyline of Harry putting a bounty on Spider-man's head.
Also, which elements of Koepp’s script went into tasm 1??
@@philatio1744 just now seeing this; sorry. David Koepp's screenplay has a big emphasis on Peter's dead parents. It opens with the birthday party scene where Peter, MJ, Harry and Aunt May are watching a home movie and everyone goes silent when Peter sees footage of his parents. Octavius is introduced as a colleague and friend of the Parkers only for it to be revealed he was in on their death.
More significantly Gwen Stacey is a major character. Mary Jane is pushed into a supporting role. There's also a dinner scene where Peter and George Stacey have a lot of the same dialogue used in ASM 1.
The script still uses Doc Ock as the main villain and involves Spider-man losing his powers and quitting, but it is handled differently. There is also a lot more of Harry wanting revenge
Another great video. I do enjoy seeing concept art of how films could have been. Ultimately I like how Spider-Man 2 came out - who didn't?
I love the way it came out as well. Of course many people complain about how the film is cheesy or Mary Jane being used as a damsel in distress again, but overall the film is masterfully made.
@@WarpingFist I rewatched the Raimi trilogy recently and I do have to say that of all three of them MJ is written best in Spider-Man 3. I think the only problem I had with it was the Bully maguire parts but those are so fun to laugh at now that I ignored it.
@@rumplestiltskins7590 those bully maguire part are supposed to be cringy.
No Way Home and going back through the Raimi movies was a nice reminder of how fuckin’ amazing a movie Spider-Man 2 is.
Damn I could totally imagine Sam raimi filming a horror type sequence with the tentacles playing piano
That would have been incredible and really creepy. Also it would have been nice if he was singing a song about killing Spider-Man while playing the piano or maybe singing "If I were a Rich Man" in a some sort of funny way while waiting for Spidey to arrive to his lab. So when Peter is inside it, he gets up from the piano and says with a creepy smile: "I was waiting for you, Spider-Man". Then he suddenly starts attacking him without compasion and from surprise.
Great video, I am subbing even without knowing what else you have...
I wish there was a version in where the arms controlled a paralytic Dr.Octopus or even just controlling his corpse, just to give us an impression on who is truly in control and who's merely the victim, there could be a scene in where Dr.Octopus last dying words are "Forgive me, I cannot...C" and moments after Spider-Man seems to have won and it is all over the tentacles "resurrect" and keep fighting him
It would have been dark, but also right up my alley
To be honest, Sam Raimi's Spider man was grounded to reality more than the other ones, the only excpetion was Venom showing up in movie 3.
Which he didn't want.
6:03 That kind of looks more like that mutation device Magneto uses in the first X-Men movie to try to mutate New York City.
2:17 aw fuck no i aint sleeping tonight
The arms in 3:57 resemble the arms of Olivia Octavius from Into The Spider-verse
The video thumbnail is pure nightmare fuel
Reminds me of the texas chainsaw massacre
I know things can't be verbatim when adapting to film -- and I'm grsteful for the wise changes they made -- but t's funny how the closer to the source material they stayed, the better the results.
I do like the designs for the lizard and black cat I wonder what Sam Raimis vision for those characters would have been in his Spider-Man movies I think without studio interference his take on lizard would have been as beloved a villain as green goblin and doc Ock I wish we could have gotten a Spider-Man 4 from him
Spider-Man 4 Vulture and Lizard was going appear in Spider-Man 5.
The flashlights in the tentacles are actually in the movie, if only for a few seconds.
It's the final shot of Ock slowly sinking into the river after destroying the fusion device. One by one, the flashlights are switching off as to show that the tentacles' AI died as well.
Wow, just wow.
Interesting can you do James Cameron’s Spider-Man and Tobe Hooper’s Spider-Man for Halloween?
I plan on doing that video closer to Halloween
@@WarpingFist oh that’s good
The Tim Flattery designs are based on the Ultimate comics doctor octopus
amazing! i cant believe ive never seen this before! great vid!
This guy is chill’s brother 🤣. Great video these unused concepts are great
love your style, been watching all of your videos, keep it up!
2:55 Denton Octavious
Bro you vids deserves a million views
I'm really starting to fall in love with this channel.
Interesting how black cat appeared in the Spider-Man 2 game and she was originally going to be in the movie.
A real great video, Bro!!!
HOLY CRAP, WE COULD'VE SEEN THE BLACK CAT IN RAIMI FILMS, now I'm a bit disappointed
The concept art is 🔥
love these videos! how did you get the test footage for the tentacles?
A lot of this footage is from the behind the scenes documentaries on the bonus disc of the DVD. Watched it so much as a kid. Pretty sure someone’s uploaded it all on here
wait your telling be we could've had black cat damn that's a bummer that didn't went in the movie
She was gonna be in spider man three, but was replaced by venom, due to sony pushing venom.
Aye yo I ain’t know my boy Kermit had a yt channel
The voices aren’t even similar lmao
Imagine dr octopus tentacles made with STARKS nano technology 💥💥💥💥💥
chills cousin
2:27 that looks exactly like Colin Farrell
I've never cared for either of the lizards looks in ASM 2 or NWH. I dig the character just not the face.. idk doesnt have a reptilian look to me. A more elongated nose/mouth would have helped
Interesting that Black Cat and Lizard were considered for Spider Man 2 because Black Cat did appear in the tie in game and Lizard was meant to as well but got scrapped.
In some of the concepts for the fusion device, am I the only one who thought they looked like the citadel core from Half-Life 2?
That thumbnail scared the hell out of me
Looking forward to the Spider-Man 3 and the amazing and home series it’s one of the best series on UA-cam and you’ve only done the first 2 films hahaha
Would love to see similar videos for the TASM duology
We need this for all the Spider-Man films
Solid Documentary.
This guy must be a relative to chills
3:39 and 3:22 were actually for the first movie because the dates on them are marked "00" when the first original was in production in 2000.
2:56 Darth Ock
Bruh! Your video deserve got 269 likes
5:26 BBC
Huh I didn't know about Black Cat being cut from the movie. This might be why she has the roll in the video game? It's common for movies to send early concept art to tie in products like video games
2:24 Doc Oc looks like he lost his lips and had his mouth slit open to form a permanent smile
Do 3 next ^_^
Geez the art in the thumbnail is dawn scary
*_NOMBER FIFTEEN_*
2:32
That looks like Walter White.
You know my favorite spider man movie suit of all time is the 1st raimi suit from 2002 so what is yours my friend?
Its the same for me
@@WarpingFist i know you'd say that okay 😊👍
Mine is TASM 2 suit because the wide eyes lens
@@Bocchi4516 Yup mine too, but not the movie
Uncle bens death was not a freak accident, it was a murder
How do you get these images on the web

I can't be the only one who thought the more modern and futuristic design for the tentacles seemed a bit, diskish?
The action/fight scenes in this movie where insane, I lost it at train scene spectacular movie.
That thumbnail is fucking terrifying
Will we get a video like this for Spider-Man 3?
Just a suggestion but can you make videos on the concepts for the x-men movies , the fantastic four movies and the cancelled 1997 hulk movie there is a lot of cool stuff there for potential videos from you but again if you're not interested that's fine it's just a suggestion from me
Didn’t know there was a cancelled 1997 hulk movie
This video is tuned to 220hz
I still think why no one tried to shoot Doc.Ock. Won't it be easier to kill/put him down by shooting him with firearms 🙃 but movie wanted him to be superior and only spiderman allowed to fight him barehanded.
bc then the movie would end in 20 mins ?
If I remember correctly they actually try to shoot him during the bank scene but the tentacles react fast enough to shield Otto from the bullets
@@adolfopagano7762 They indeed do.
@ 2:28: Gary Oldman as Dr. Octopus?
2:31 Looks like Walter White
We still have yet to see black cat in film
Yet she's in every game 🤣🤣
Why is the thumb nail so crazy lol
Can you do Spider-Man 3
Yeah, that’s in the pipeline
@@WarpingFist yay, this is honestly extremely interesting to watch
I thought the thumbnail was wolverine
But in spider man 2 the game there’s black cat
The games aren’t canon
Why you talkin like that my man?
Make spiderman 3
Ok, but y the thumbnail look like that
Horrifying thumbnail.
Which one
What’s up with these thumbnails why they do dark
I wanted instead of Dr. Octopus, the main villain was beaten by a bi shocker, under the mask of which crusher Hogan was hiding, which Peter won in the ring, it turned out that the real name of the wrestler was beaten by Herman Schultz and after the defeat, he wanted to take revenge on Spider-Man.
eh....
