    You should try some stuff from Herman Marshall here in Dallas. Just visited them today and got a tour from Herman himself. Their bourbon is great and they have other varieties too.

    Since the Angels envy episode where Rex mentioned tasting peanuts, I have picked up that flavor in three different whiskeys ( Larceny, Evan Williams BIB, and Old Grand Dad 114). I don't hate the flavor, but I much prefer fruity/floral/spicy flavors.

    Great video guys keep it up... But, for the love of god if I don't see a video on the Knob Creek that I see behind you soon I'm not only going to loose my mind but you two will be missing out on some seriously good whiskey. I recently picked up a bottle of the Small Batch 100 proof and I am absolutely loving it.

    Greetings from the great white north! After you two praised the Dalmore cigar malt, I had to go out and get myself a bottle. Wow. It was like being a kid again, and discovering there were women who would take their clothes off on the internet.
    Now I know there's more to life than Lagavulin.
    Keep up the good work lads!

    He is saying Hooyah! It's SF (SEAL, SWCC, and EOD.) If I had a sip of whisk[e]y for every time I yelled that out to an instructor while I was trying to (con)vince them that I loved the beatin' I was getting then I'd fill the vault 10x's over! I completely understand how many requests you likely get, and if you don't get to it in 4...hundred months...I've witnessed your ability to complete tasks in a "timely" manner LOL! Seriously love you guys, keep doing an amazingly informative and hilarious job with your tastings. Still top of my list for guys I'd love to drink copious amounts of whisk[e]y with...next to Gandhi

    Hey guys I have a big question for you, I live in north Austin and have been really wanting to try Coal Ila Moch. Supposedly it's the same as the standard Caol Ila 12, just a tad lighter on the peat. Since your review on Caol Ila I fell in love with it, went on the Caol Ila website and discovered the Moch. I have been searching everywhere and can't seem to find it anywhere though, and was wondering if either of you gents might know where I can find one. Or two.

      Whiskey Vault Nice! I've been wanting to try them so now l'll def have to get a few. The water is interesting. Has a very mineral taste by itself and I've found it def adds flavor to bourbons, but not all. Play with it and you'll find some pretty big differences. But it's not gonna be dramatic with every one.

    I love how you are reviewing all these craft distilleries, but damn all of the good ones you keep reviewing I can't find anywhere. Your giving me whiskey blue balls!
    I saw that you got that Del Bac on the back little shelf. As a local Tucsonian I'm curious to what you thought of it. My first impression was that it wasn't the best, but the mesquite smoked was interesting.
    I'm really surprised that these craft distilleries are staying afloat, but its also kind of forcing the bigger brands to do more and experiment a little more.

    • @WhiskeyVault
      @WhiskeyVault  7 років тому +1

      I actually really enjoy Del Bac. I prefer the smoked one. And I love the impact towards experimentation it's have on the larger brand. And just like music, I don't think it threatens them truly, and the death of craft is only true if they were hoping to buy yachts in the bahamas. If all they want is to make a reasonable living doing something they love, they'll be fine.

    Are prices higher,lower ~same at the distiller than at liquor stores?

    • @WhiskeyVault
      @WhiskeyVault  7 років тому +1

      It totally depends. But often the main difference is that you can get things at the distiller that they don't distribute.

    • @chrisboggess4978
      @chrisboggess4978 7 років тому +2

      Whiskey Vault It all depends on the distributors. Because of the US 3 tier system, we at the distillery have to sell it to a distributor, and then buy it back from them. But the products we sell are generally market price if not some times cheaper.

    Wikipedia suggests that it is: Oorah (Marines), Hooah (Army), Hooah (Air Force), and Hooyah (Navy). My experience is there isn't that definite of a line between their chosen noises (with the exception of Marines, who are pretty territorial about their "Oorah").
    In other news, my adorable daughter had a question for me today. She wanted to know why, in the movie Frozen, Hans chases Anna instead of the queen, Elsa. She thinks it is because Elsa gave him the cold shoulder.

    Navy: Hooya
    Marines: Oorah, (done sharply sounding a little like a dog's bark)
    Army: Hooah, ( A kind of guttural grunt like being punched in the gut)
    Etymology is an acronym, (Like everything else in the military), originating from H.U.A.; Heard, Understood and Acknowledged. Then becoming HOOA during WWII by the airborne standing for Head Out of Ass.
    BTW, how was the wood finish of these two bourbons? I just had some Bulleit Bourbon last night and it too was too woody for me. Up front it was delicious. Carmel, Coconut, Cinnamon and more, but the bait and switch is more than I'm willing to put up with on a regular basis. The finish was harsh and all tannin for a really long terrible finish.

    Also, have you tried the Norlan tasting glass. The 'whiskey expert' here at work (the one who said the Johhny Walker colored labels were all the same) swears by it which makes me suspicious by default. Your thoughts?

    So I had a customer at my Duty Free who claimed to be the former master blender of Crown Royal. He then proceeded to try and convince me that you don't use a still of any kind to make whisky.
    Help me out here guys, what on earth is this guy talking about? Or am I right to assume that this guy is full of it?

    Random idea that has nothing to do with this video:
    I need to put some Monkey Shoulder in one of those mini casks. It's an almost perfect whiskey, but the one thing it needs more of is a lingering oak smell in the glass.
