    Thank you for this video! I had no idea if mine was working! Good job putting emphasis on the fact that the can doesn’t look opened.

    Good demo! Thanks! But it's not safe to keep the food in the can after opening, even in the fridge. You should always store leftovers in another container.

    My family bought one of these yesterday. Well, I came home from work today and couldn't figure out how to use it as everyone was asleep and the box was gone. I had to watch this video to find out how to turn it on after locking it lol. Thanks.

    We've had one of these for years and it finally stopped working even though it's lightly used. I had hoped some mechanism could be replaced in the unit, but not so. If you look at the so called "cutting wheel" in the unit, there is no blade as such. The wheel is at an angle to the top of the can and I believe the wheel actually presses the top of the can from below with such force that it separates from the body of the can. The wheel has a "step" halfway down it that does the job.
    It's a shame the wheel wears out because the rest of the unit is very stout. When I disassembled the old one, everything in it was very solid. The plastic gear wheel inside that turns the toothed gear that moves the can had zero wear on it.
    The new instruction books do not mention the clear plastic tab that covers the removal wheel and I thought the opener was defective until my wife saw it. They could have made it white colored so it was easier to see.
    Also, the cord does come out farther, but it's not an elegant method to do so. It just has a space inside where it's crammed into and you pull a bit hard to pull it out.
    So in summary, it does remove tops with a smooth edge but will probably not last more than a few years if you use it frequently.

    Thanks for your video. Bought one yesterday at Walmart in-store. Works great and the lids come off smooth and safe not jagged or sharp like the other electric can openers. It's also slender and doesn't take up a lot of room. NOTE: remember to take the clear plastic piece (some type of shipping protector) off the opener when you unpack it or you'll think you bought an opener that does work!

    I wish I would have read Amazon reviews before purchasing! It worked for a while, but it fails to open cans. Even worse, as soon as the can starts turning the can opener shaves very thin metal strips from the can. Some stick to the can, some get in the food. Amazing how many people have experienced this and they kept selling it. As for warranty, you pay shipping both ways, so cheaper to go buy a can opener from a company that cares about their customer safety and satisfaction.

    Just ordered this after my beloved Proctor Silex failed after over a decade of faithful and flawless service - parts were just as expensive as a new unit so I tossed it. Hoping to get even half of that out of this one.

    Got this, it has trouble on some cans. Also makes tiny metal shavings sometimes. What do you think? Pay attention, maybe U missed this happening? Also, it would be great of they made it so you don't have to hold it going with the hand.

    • @eddyvideostar
      @eddyvideostar 3 роки тому

      To Therese Rothel: The horizontal system of cutting, circumscissile style is better than the vertical; since some cans' rims are higher and, certain openers cannot even contact the top of the can, let alone, pierce it.

    I have had this can opener for over a year. Only downfall, for me, is you have to hold the handle down the entire time to open a can, waists A LOT of time in the kitchen. I need one I can walk away from while it's working. Other than that works well.

    • @VoxVeritatisOne
      @VoxVeritatisOne 6 років тому +1

      You'll never get that 10 seconds per large can back. But it will add "...A LOT..." to your "...waists [sic]". LOL

    My problem with this can opener is that it worked great for its really only occasional use - for about a year. Slowly performance deteriorated, then the can started stalling out and not spinning - this creates the metal shavings reported by another commenter. When this happens, you really need to be careful when removing the lid, because you don't want the shavings to fall into the can you are opening! Finally, the cans started failing to open - so then you had to remove the can, carefully brush off the metal filings into the trash bin, and then use a manual can opener to finish the job. At first I thought it was only happening on Great Value canned products from Walmart, but eventually other canned goods brands like Libbys had the same problem. So I contacted Hamilton Beach and they said since it was over a year they couldn't help me, other than to offer a 40% discount off a product on their web page, which would include shipping and sales tax. Well I could save the shipping fee by buying another can opener locally, and their online products are not discounted. So look elsewhere for a can opener, this product failed miserably at just over a year with very little usage.

      I did, just recently - Black and Decker EC600B, $24.99 (not available on Amazon). We shall see how it holds up. It has a two year warranty., so I have better coverage this time around.

    Thank you for the video; the cord is ridiculously short; I have to use and extension cord; not fun. I well know that they do it to prevent accidents but they went from one side of the expectrum to the other; who on earth has an electrical outlet on the bottom wall to plug this can opener in? On having to use an extension cord it can get dangerous. Hope Hamilton Beach executives pay attention to this problem. The electrical Cord should be DOUBLE the size of what the appliance comes with. That would be reasonable.

      Majid Arif Siddiqui The Black N Decker unit. It never worked right. It will start to open then push the can out. Then you have to push the can back in. It will cut half inch then push the can out. It took 5 minutes to open a can. They actually sent me a new one. Its the same model but a slightly newer version. That one apparently works..At least so far..Although i have only used it twice..
