ABOUT THIS PIECE
"Everything Stays" has been a favorite song of mine for a long time. It's so simple, and beautiful, and the lyrics make me feel nostalgia and comfort and loneliness and companionship all at the same time. I've been waiting for an excuse to perform it for UA-cam, and discovering the connection between these two pieces became the perfect opportunity. Spinel, waiting in a garden, gem turning upside down, always staying, yet slowly changing...it very much seems like a lullaby written for or about her. This was a delight to make, I hope you enjoy!

you could try learning it by ear! it's extremely great practice but also super slow if you're just starting out

This mashup reminds me of how after the movie and a few months go by spinel realizes that even if she did get left behind, even if she was abandoned, she’s still worth it, and she can always restart with a better life with better people.

These two songs are so beautiful. Now that Rebecca has confirmed that their connected and that it originated from a bunny she once had. It reminds me so much of the innocence of childhood and how calm everything was back then. It soothes me in a way no other songs can. This will always and forever be the songs I go to for self soothing. Great job in capturing that. You're an amazing pianist.

When everything stays came out and I listened to it the first time, I couldn't stop feeling this nostalgia and tears started to slide on my cheeks. Drift Away made me cry so much because of the story it has behind it. Now, a combination of BOTH is an emotional bomb. I HATE YOU AND LOVE YOU AT THE SAME TIME, YOU MONSTER!!

I remember turning 18 and in high school and Binge-watching the Marceline arc of adventure time and falling in love with the song...Now 4 years later, I am 21 and a college student and now I've fallen for this song.

what i like the most about these two songs is that they are two different perspectives of the same thing. Everything stays is the one talking about their lost toy in the garden and Drifting away is the toy in the garden feeling lost without the person who abandoned them. well played Rebecca Sugar, well played.
