I’m not the best actor or singer but anytime I put my all into a song I try my best to get into the headspace of who was singing it. Be it a real person or a character. I suppose that Caleb is really channeling the character of Spinel. There have been times where I’ve damn near made myself cry while channeling a character. Putting yourself in that headspace and making yourself feel those feelings can really take it out of you. Poor guy probably had to lie down for a good half hour after singing

“Is this how it works, am I doing it right” always get me. Spinel just wants to have fun with friends more than anything, hoping she doesn’t mess up or ruin her chances of that
It's so much more sad when you realise that she was literally made to be pink diamond's friend. It was her whole reason for being 'born'. Then all of a sudden, she realises, after years of fulfilling her purpose, that Pink didn't want her anymore. The only thing she's ever known has been taken from her. She's wondering why. Did she do something, say something? Was she not good enough? Then she discovers that, while she was waiting for her only friend, her reason for existence, she has forgotten her and made new friends. It's depressing stuff.
2:30 For me this is the best part of the song and he sang it gorgeously, you can hear the despair this lines have "Isn't that lovely, isn't that cool..." the pain starts to rise, at "and isn't it cruel" he sound almost as if he's singing through his teeth in anger, sadness, pain, and at "and aren't i a fool to have..." i can almost hear someone who's about to break down into tears since it cracks more than when he sang "cruel".
I was waiting for someone to talk about this. This man is truly phenomenal. The one thing he really adds to covers unlike others is character and raw emotion.
This reminds me so much abandoned pets, especially dogs. People impulse buy them, then they get bored of them or can’t handle their energy and needs. So they just discard them off at a park or the middle of nowhere. And since the pets don’t know any better, they wait for their owners to come back for them.

You know the sad thing? People would do the same to even their children if it was more socially excepted. The amount of people that impulse adopt pets or impulse have children then regret it when it's not the perfect fantasy they had in mind disgusts me. It's horrible.

Most of the reason this video made me cry is not only because of the song being sad in general, but how well he portrayed and became the character, showing his facial expressions as the songs emotions developed within him made it all the more real.
I like this song because it ignores bullying and being nice to others, but covers a problem I have. Loneliness and abandonment. Things school ignores because they can't force people to be friends with you, I respect spinel for covering real problems that are common, but ignored.
