Thank you for posting the update. You look absolutely beautiful. You are glowing! I am a 46-year-old Stage III Breast Cancer Survivor and had to make a decision about whether to get the full reconstruction. After prayer and reflection, I decided to go flat on my right side and am healing up from surgery. I am officially the One Boob Lady, but God is good. I admire you!!!
Thank you for posting these videos. I’m sitting here in a hotel helping wife recover from DIEP surgery. Today is day 6 post-op and this surgery is no joke and the meds they put her on trashed her stomach, bad nausea and diarrhea. We cut out most of the meds expect Tylenol and a very low dose oxycodone as needed. Like you, my wife passed out on me a couple of days ago and it scared me to death. I’m glad you are doing well now and thank you for the updates and sharing your story.
Thanks so much for your transparency and update ! I’m 29 and have my surgery in November and watching this helped put my mind at ease 😊it’s great to see that you’re in great spirits and are recovering well !

Hello Felicia, I just came across your videos!! And thank you so much for sharing… I just my Bilateral DIEP surgery January 25…so I’m one week post op… feeling pretty okay and inspired after watching your videos😃definitely encouraged me and also sooooo relatable …thanks again for sharing and I look forward to watching more as I continue to heal, rest, and recover!!!😍😍😍
Oh that’s so great to hear! It gets better and better with every day that goes by. I will probably do an update video soon letting everyone know my progress. So glad to hear you’re doing okay. ❤️
I reached out to you before. Again i thank you. I'm going in Dec.10th. I'm glad i did watched you again bc i realize i should get some things that haven't cross my mind in helping me with the healing process. 🙏🏾❤🙏🏾❤🙏🏾❤
Hi Felicia, I had my surgery Dec.10th and you are right about how hard it is to just sit. I do believe i have already did something wrong by moving to fast. I'm hoping it's nothing!!! I see my Doctor Tues. Again i thank you for being open with us. God bless stay safe
@@rebeccatroglin6139 I'm so super nervous I'm worried I'm not thinking right sometimes- mainly because I will have no one at home ro help me during peak Covid! I am relieved they keep me under hospital care for several days. Going it alone terrifies me. I do handle pain ok. I'm pretty tough. My FB support group helps. One lady came on and urged me not to do the surgery because she's disabled, can't get out of bed and not a day goes on she doesn't feel pain because of her tram flap- I paid attention and asked up with all my questions. I think there are different calibres of surgeons across the country. Good surgical skill means everything, I guess.
Thank you so much for your videos I am recovering from radiation currently but will be having the surgery in 6 months God is good and you look amazing 💪🏾💪🏾💞
you are amazing i started to follow because i try to find information about this surgery because i am gonna be surgery next week but i am in god hand your are warrior congratulations
You look so good! I just watched all of your videos. I'm still surprised at how many of us there are here. Your videos were very helpful. I find out my surgery date tomorrow-3 months after my first screening mammogram that went awry (or did its job...half full glass😏). I have my wife- no family, friends, kids. Just her. It's been a lot and there's more to come. She's 3.5 weeks out recovering from the hysterectomy I was supposed to have too. But then this. I'm trying to finish my MBA this week-Capstone- before surgery. My dog was killed by rattlesnakes, sold our house from hell(30 day transaction turned to 100 days), and Covid has been the least of my worries this year. Just venting...sorry. I keep getting through things and I wonder sometimes how I'm still standing. I guess I'm meant to do something more. I hope my recovery isn't too bad. Thanks for posting and reading this mad long comment. Stay well and positive ☺
Oh my goodness!! So much! Praying for you!! Did you find out your date? Will you get the hysterectomy at the same time or just focus on the breasts for now? Even though it’s just you and your wife, you have each other and that’s awesome. Keep me posted on everything. ♥️
@@felicia6608 Thanks for responding! I have a tentative date of January 14th, pending the results of the angiogram. I am so thankful for her because she has been my rock for 18 years. We are familiar with tough situations, but this is the toughest yet. I know we'll get through. The hysterectomy will have to wait at least another 6 months. Hopefully the fibroids won't grow too much in that time. It's crazy but so many have gone or are going through similar or worst. I count my blessings daily. Your attitude and smile throughout were incredibly inspiring and I hope you continue to do well. And yes, I subscribed 😊👏🏾😁!
I’m in Washington too! Original from Seattle currently in the Tri-Cities. Was just diagnosed with breast cancer in October and will have my mastectomy in January. I’m hoping pathology comes back good afterward and will be doing DEIP flap reconstruction. That honestly terrifies me more than the mastectomy does lol
I’ll be keeping you in my prayers! All will be well. Focus on one day at a time. The DIEP flap is a lot but it was the best decision for me. Trust whatever you choose will be the right choice for you. ❤️
Thanks so much for sharing. Just entering my 9 week post op (DIEP Flap) week in San Francisco. Definitely long recovery and healing delays. I also developed fat necrosis on one side which is kind of scary but hopefully won’t get worse, bigger or harder in the next few months before the next surgery. Always look forward to your updates.
Hi 👋 I'm Perlitia. So thanks for letting us gonthe journey with you. I'm only year out from my first battle with right breast cancer. Had mastectomy on right. Now post scan found spot on left. Biopsy Monday. Then will plan.
You are so encouraging! I finished my treatments (surgery, chemo, radiation) last June and am scheduled for reconstruction June 2021. I appreciate the sharing of your experience. Where in Washington do you live?
In watching more of your journey, I see that you’re from Seattle. If I may ask, have some questions. How did you physically prepare for this major surgery? What was something you’d tell someone to definitely do and what might be something you’d suggest to do differently? I’m trying to get my body, mind and soul prepared. Thank you to you and Jesse for sharing.
@@robendixon7652 It’s a tough recovery but never impossible. Have a good support system and go into it knowing that this is temporary. Felicia, I’m curious about why you didn’t have the surgery in Seattle. I would love to meet you some day! I don’t know anyone else who’s had this surgery.
Kelly Bailey It wasn’t offered to me when it was time for surgery. My PS said I didn’t have enough fat and that it wasn’t a procedure that was done much anymore. After having a hard time with the implants I joined an Facebook group for DIEP flap surgery and found out about NOLA and decided. After a lot of research I picked them. We should definitely meet someday!
Hi Felicia and thank you soo much for your videos. I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, went through chemo, unilateral mastectomy of the left breast, and radiotherapy. The initial plan was to do an implant based reconstruction, a temporary tissue expander was inserted during the mastectomy and it was, and still is , the worst thing through the whole process. It's been in for more than a year now and it is still causing me so much pain in my pectoral muscle and shoulder. I have decided to go for a diep flap reconstruction as I don't want anything under my muscle anymore, but I'm so afraid of the pain and the scars, do you think that if you knew how painful it was you 'd properly not have done it??? how bad are the scars and do they bother you? how long did it take for you to feel fully recovered and able to return to your normal life??? I feel it is the right choice for me but am so afraid: -(
safsaf shosho I think all of those feelings we all go through. I’m so sorry you’ve been in pain for so long! I definitely would do this procedure over again if I had to. I would’ve done this first than go through the implants. I have a second phase I’m going to do here in November and then I can probably answer some of your questions but the scaring to me isn’t bad. I have a big abdominal scar and the ones in my breast. I will get the ones in my breast changed with the second surgery but I’m so used to them having any scar that it doesn’t bother me anymore. The one on my tummy is big BUT it’s so low you can’t see it with my swimsuit. So I’m overall very happy with the procedure and scars.
