So glad i found your channel. TNBC, stage 1b, very dense breast, have had 3 biopsies in the past due to microcalcifications. Have 6 more chemo tx, then 1 month break, then surgery. Options are mastectomy, lumpectomy, or oncoplastic lumpectomy. Definitely no implants! Diep flap seems very invasive for a soon-to-be 66y/o. Still weighing my options. Thanks you for sharing such personal details and most of all, keeping it real and not sugar-coating the procedure. Your videos have helped me a lot. Meeting with the oncoplastic surgeon in a few weeks, taking a lot of notes. God bless and happy holidays to your beautiful family.
Have a merry Christmas and happy holidays! I’ll keep you in my prayers. DIEP is definitely invasive but not impossible. I would research and then trust that whatever option you go with, is the best choice.
I got tears when you said your body is beautiful before and after. I’m facing this surgery in September ( I’ve been flat since April ‘23) and it’s been so long since I felt pretty. Your words meant so so much to me.
I had my (TRAM) surgery Sept. 3rd. I needed a walker for about a week after I got home from the hospital. The pain just as you said indescribable. You were so blessed to have your husband with you.. Due COVID19 I was alone. My surgery was done at a hospital i currently worked, so I had some friends stick their head in to give me words of encouragement. Thank your for posting your journey. This video has helped me emotionally and validated all of my emotions.
Felicia I am getting ready to consult with a surgeon to do the same procedure in Indianapolis and I am flat right now from my double mastectomy and I just want to say thank you for your encouraging words to love myself because I am made in God's image. I've been struggling emotionally since my double mastectomy October 10th 2022 . I watched several of your videos this morning and it's really made me want to go ahead and go through and schedule this surgery.Thank you for sharing your journey. I would really love to meet you. I'm not sure what part of the U.S you live in. I live in Mishawaka Indiana which is close to South Bend. If you are ever this way it would be a pleasure to meet you. You have helped me through your videos which I just incidentally found this morning. I hope you are doing well! Thank you so much!
This makes me so incredibly happy. Thank you for sharing. I pray you have a great surgery/journey in this new year. If I ever get out to Indiana I’ll have to look you up! ❤️
I will be having this surgery soon and after doing my research on UA-cam you are the MOST transparent person talking about your experience. The majority of the videos I've seen making it seem like its a breeze and I know everyone body is different but I knew pain had to be somewhere and I needed to know the truth. Thank you and may God continue to bless you 💖
I've watched your videos, and I'm currently was Dx with breast cancer and had a bilateral mastectomy... waiting to see if I need chemo and reconstruction surgery down the road! Thanks for sharing this! How are you feeling now??
I’m doing great! I’m sorry you have to go through this but the surgery? I’m so happy I was able to have it done. It’s been a really great experience. Very thankful.
@@felicia6608 my bilateral mastectomy went great, unfortunately I have to have surgery again to remove more cells from the muscle. I'm waiting for test results to see if I need chemo..but I'm super nervous about the DIEP surgery down the line. I'm scard of the DIEP. I currently have expanders, so I know I'll have to get it done. Happy your doing well! What's the main side effects from the DIEP?
@@newlynatural9937 don’t be scared of the DIEP! LOL No, I totally get it. It’s a big procedure. The biggest side effect I’d think would be necrosis. I didn’t have that or any issues with it so I can speak much on it. But whatever you do, make sure you researched the heck out of all options before making the final decision.
